Advantage Rent A Car Introduce
For residents and visitors arriving at or departing from Georgia’s primary travel hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), selecting a reliable car rental agency is a critical first step. Advantage Rent A Car is one of the providers located within the convenient on-site Rental Car Center (RCC). They specialize in both general car rentals and van rentals, aiming to meet the diverse needs of the busy Atlanta market, from solo business travelers to large groups needing a 15-passenger van for a Georgia road trip.
The brand positions itself as a competitive choice in the crowded airport environment. However, any local user considering Advantage must exercise extreme caution. An overview of recent customer feedback reveals a concerning pattern of negative experiences that potential renters should be fully aware of before booking. Issues frequently cited include exceptionally long wait times, aggressive and potentially misleading insurance upselling practices, and problems with vehicle quality and maintenance. The tone of customer commentary is overwhelmingly critical, with multiple users advising against renting from this specific location due to the operational challenges encountered.
As one Georgia customer recounted, they faced a full hour wait to pick up a car, followed by what they described as an attempt to "scam me into buying insurance I don't need," a situation requiring them to contact their personal insurance agent for verification. Furthermore, receiving a vehicle that was "all dented up" with a malfunctioning tail light that posed a safety risk during a two-hour drive highlights significant concerns about vehicle readiness and management responsiveness. These accounts stand in stark contrast to the modern convenience of the rental facility itself and should prompt all prospective renters to thoroughly weigh their options.
Advantage Rent A Car is situated within the high-traffic Consolidated Rental Car Center (RCC) at ATL, providing direct access to the airport terminals.
- Address: 2200 Rental Car Center Pkwy, Atlanta, GA 30337, USA
- Location Type: Car Rental Agency, Van Rental Agency
The location benefits from the centralized infrastructure of the Hartsfield-Jackson airport complex:
- Direct Airport Connection: The facility is easily accessed from both the Domestic and International Terminals via the free, automated ATL SkyTrain. The SkyTrain provides a quick, stress-free transfer directly to the RCC building.
- Vehicle Return: The return process is noted by some users as being straightforward, utilizing the same centralized RCC facility.
- Accessibility Features: The location is equipped to serve all customers efficiently, offering essential accessibility accommodations:
- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance
- Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot
Advantage Rent A Car at ATL primarily functions as a comprehensive vehicle provider, focusing on the core services required for temporary ground transportation.
- Car Rental Services: The company offers a fleet spanning typical rental categories, from fuel-efficient compact and economy cars suitable for navigating Atlanta traffic to mid-size and full-size sedans, and SUVs. Available models may include popular makes such as Ford Fusion, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, and various Nissan models, though reservations are often for a vehicle class, not a specific model.
- Van Rental Services: A key offering is their van rental capacity, providing vehicles for larger passenger needs. This includes:
- 7-Passenger Minivans
- Larger Passenger Vans (e.g., 12- and 15-passenger models)
- Payment Flexibility: They accept a modern array of payment options at the counter, allowing for customer convenience:
- Credit Cards (Major)
- Debit Cards (Renters must confirm current policies regarding deposits and acceptable debit cards)
- NFC Mobile Payments (Contactless payment methods like Apple Pay or Google Pay)
- Supplemental Insurance Offerings: Like all rental agencies, Advantage offers various optional protection products, including Loss Damage Waivers (LDW) and Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI). Customers are strongly advised to thoroughly review their existing personal auto policy or credit card benefits before purchasing any additional coverage at the counter.
While the customer service environment has been heavily criticized, the company does offer a few standard and modern features typical of a major airport rental provider.
- Modern Payment Technology: The acceptance of NFC mobile payments is a convenient feature for customers who prefer a contactless and quick transaction experience at the counter.
- Consolidated Location Advantage: Being situated inside the ATL Consolidated Rental Car Center simplifies logistics for travelers. The dedicated facility and SkyTrain access are inherently convenient features of the airport's design.
- Focus on Van Rentals: The agency’s specific offering of a full spectrum of van sizes caters to a niche but crucial need for large families, sports teams, or event organizers in the Georgia region.
- Vehicle Fleet: The fleet generally comprises vehicles from a variety of manufacturers across standard size classes, giving customers options, although actual vehicle readiness and condition appear to be inconsistent based on customer reports.
For all reservation and location-specific inquiries for your rental experience in Georgia, use the following contact details:

- Primary Phone: (404) 761-4999
When deciding whether to rent from Advantage Rent A Car at the ATL location, prospective customers in Georgia must balance the structural convenience of the location against the significant volume of negative customer experiences reported.
The strongest points in favor of Advantage are external to the company's direct service: the convenience of the location within the Rental Car Center and the easy, free connection via the ATL SkyTrain. Furthermore, if you specifically require a 12- or 15-passenger van and they offer the best rate, this location may be considered as an option, provided you are prepared for potential operational delays and service issues.
However, the overwhelming customer consensus indicates substantial risk in choosing this provider. Reports of excessive wait times (up to an hour or more even with a reservation), aggressive attempts to sell unnecessary insurance, and the documented receipt of damaged and potentially unsafe vehicles (like the Hyundai with a non-functioning tail light) are serious concerns that cannot be ignored. Customers have also reported feeling helpless when trying to resolve issues on-site, with long waits for managers who never appear and counter agents refusing requests for different, undamaged vehicles.
For Georgians or visitors prioritizing reliability, vehicle safety, quick service, and a transparent rental transaction, the collective warnings from previous customers—who advise that "you would fare better drawing a door and knocking three times"—suggest that a different rental agency within the Atlanta Consolidated Rental Car Center may offer a much safer and less stressful start to your time in Georgia. If you do choose to rent here, thoroughly document the condition of your vehicle with photos and videos before leaving the lot.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I see why this company is named what it is, they will take clean advantage of you.Rent at your own risk, literally & figuratively. The reviews speak for themselves at this point, This rental company is equivalent to"The last house on the left"This is where you go when you're clearly out of options, you would fare better drawing a door and knocking three times....It might be a brighter light at the end of that tunnel than going to this rental car company that's listed in Hell's phone book. 💯
July 13 · Earth ReignAt the Atlanta, GA Airport: Customer service was terrible! I had to wait 1 hour to pick up my car. The person at the counter tried to scam me into buying insurance I don't need. I had to call my insurance agent to reassured me that I don't need their insurance. I had reserved a Nissian, but when I finally got a car, it was a Hundai. It was all dented up. I've never seen so many damages with a rental car! I was very worried that I will be blamed for damages. I had to thoroughly document all of the dents and stains outside and inside the car. I also took pictures. There were the same make and model cars parked in the lot so I asked to take another car and the woman at the counter refused to give me another car, saying that it was reserved for someone else. Why is that reserved, but I had to wait for my car? Others ahead of me had to wait also. I asked for the manager at the lot, I waited for another 1/2 hr and no one came. I still had to drive to Columbus, GA (Almost a 2 hr drive) so I couldn't wait any longer. On my way to the hotel, the warning light went on. It was because the one of the tail lights wasn't working! There no number to report a problem so I had to take my chances for the next two days. The only thing that worked out as expected was the ease of return. DO NOT rent a car from Advantage at the Atlanta, GA Airport!
May 29 · Rene BenderThis had to be the WORST experience ever... we arrived at the Atlanta airport around 9am... after getting to the counter to get the car we reserved (the counter experience wasn't the worst but not the best customer service either).we go down then back up to retrieve our car.1st car check engine light on2nd car was like a matchbox3rd car we finally get to drive off the lot..(this is after 2 hours spent with this company) we were going down the freeway we her a big snap we were thinking something hit the car no no no.. it the window panel flying off... we had to ride down the freeway holding it so it wouldn't come completely off and we were to blame.I called the ONLY number they have no direct number fir me to waist another 30 saying we had to take the car back to the airport. keep in mind we have been in Atlanta for 5 hours and 2 of them was already spent with this company... we get back to the counter the customer lady was very nice & funny (the ONLY good thing)4th vehicle LOL.. a joke... that car ran so loud.. it needs a rotate and balance of the tires...we came to the conclusion that they do not service these vehicles because no rental car should give anyone this much trouble...ALL VEHICLES WE INSPECTED FOR USE WERE SCRATCHED UP LIKE A SUBWAY...our return day.. the check in lady was so rude we couldn't do anything but LAUGH because we had to be on a TV show to see if we would crack under pressure...our bill was charged an extra 63 and we were trying to see why.. we asked to speak with a supervisor after waiting 30 mins he said he would call in 30 mins.. I am back home in my bed 7 hours later he was given 3 different numbers for contact just in case one was in flight needless to say we hadn't heard from him as of yet
February 11 · brooke millerCRIMINAL RACKET. Advantage rented me an UNSAFE vehicle at the Atlanta Hartsfield Intl airport and are involved in a RACKET to get their customers to pay for worn tires. The tread on both front tires of the Dodge Caravan we rented was worn flat. We didn't think to look at the tread when we were inspecting it because we assumed we were getting a safe car. We rented the car on a thursday. By Sunday morning we found the driver side tire separated from the wheel causing the tire to completely deflate. This was not a slow leak caused from a nail. Advantage does NOT provide a spare and jack so we had to tow it to a local repair shop. At the repair shop, we did not find a nail when they filled it with air. Lf and Rf Tread depth was measured at 1/32nds. As I inspected the wheel when it was on the lift, the tire literally separated from the wheel, which caused a loud POP and BLEW IN MY FACE. I am lucky i didn't lose an eye. We had to buy a new tire. We brought the ruined tire to the Advantage rental and the manager went to look at it. When he returned, he showed me a NAIL lodged into the tire. It was so new it was SPARKLING SILVER. As if somehow the professionals at the repair shop missed it. Since this "proved" they didn't rent me an unsafe car, he offered me a 20% discount for my trouble. You have got to be an idiot to think this MANAGER working Sunday December 22nd around 4PM, didn't try to swindle me. In addition, when we returned the car my partner got out to show the woman inspecting the car the ruined tire. We watched her go inside the car to look at the speedometer. When my partner went back in to collect his things, his cell phone that had been sitting in the center consul was GONE. We spent 20 minutes frantically looking for it. We had already been through enough that day trying to catch our flight. It wasn't until the manager came back to show me the nail in the tire at the office, did they miraculously find the cell phone! BOTH THE MANAGER AND THE INSPECTOR ARE CRIMINALS. I will be reporting this to government watch dogs, the police, my attorney. And I expect a full refund and reimbursement for the cost of the new tire. See photos attached to see the front worn out tire verses the rear tire.
September 07 · Sara NessonOne agent doing EVERYTHING. The line was brutal. We might have saved a few bucks in the rental. But I’ll never submit myself nor my family to an hour and a half of waiting even with a reserved and confirmed reservation. Worst wait ever. And the sign to go find the outdoor kiosk is terrible. It’s confusing and it’s not clear. “You get what you pay for”, I suppose! First and last time I’ll rent from this company.
