★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1To start off, they did not have a car available for me in the class I requested. They made me wait about 30 minutes while they figured out which on to give me. The car I finally got was not practical and not in the class I requested, but I needed to leave so I accepted it. About 1/3 of the way through my trip, the tire pressure alarm came on. The front driver side tire was low and started losing air slowly at first. I filled it back up and was able to make it to my destination. Over night the tire went almost flat. I filled it back up and made it about 30 miles before the alarm came on again. I filled it back up and found a tire shop to repair or replace the tire. They could not repair it because it had too much damage likely from racing on a track. There was chipping and cracking and extreme wear on the inside edges of both from tires that wasn't evident from just looking at them normally. They also don't stock tires that size so I couldn't get it replaced. My only option was to limp it along until I could find a near enough and open Avis location to try to swap out the car. Fortunately this other location was able to put me into a car with good tires and it was actually even the class I initially requested. I finally made it home, delayed by 8 hours. I dropped the car off the next day with a full tank of gas. The following day I got the email receipt with fuel service charges and an extra day rental. I am very disappointed with this rental experience and will likely not be renting from this location ever again.
July 09 · Aaron SchmeltzThe lady at the front desk said they didn't have enough cars for reservations. Even though on my way there someone called me and said the SUV I wanted wasn't available but they had Malibus available. I said that's fine. I get there and that wasn't the case. The lady there kept on saying she was new and was there by herself. She told me all she had was a Cadillac and a Malibu that wasn't cleaned yet.My major credit card I needed for just the Cadillac didn't have enough money on it. So I asked to split the payments on two different major card cards. She called someone on the phone and they said I couldn't do that. At this time there was at least 5 different people waiting for cars behind. I believe she panicked and she basically told me to leave so she could take care of everyone else. I asked her if I could just wait for the Malibu to get cleaned because the card i was using for that car has plenty of money on it, and she looked at me if as though I was speaking another language. This lady, was rude and had a face on her like I was causing her great grief. I will not be using this service again for anything.
March 02 · alicia ramosI’m only giving 2 stars because we at least got the vehicle we asked for…which actually seems like a miracle. We actually ended up with Avis because we redeemed points from a credit card. Looking at the reviews…they are spot on!!! Covid has effected many things in our world…but proper customer service and speaking to people in a professional manner was not a Covid symptom. We were contacted by the local Avis to confirm our reservation that we made in April. The girl (Katie) informed my wife that she needed the original card we booked with. My wife’s card was hacked and we needed a new card…so this girl said that we would not be able to rent the van and would have to cancel our reservation. After spending 3 hours on the phone between Avis Customer Support and the customer service for the bank (where we redeemed points)…we figured out that when you use the points, a travel agency books on your behalf…so the original credit card is the travel agency. We called the local Avis and let them know and all was well…not really. When we showed up…there’s Katie. She asked for the original card…we explained the situation…and again she said we couldn’t rent. It wasn’t until a very nice lady (wish I remembered her name)…had to re-explain everything. So the car was not ready so we had to wait about 30 mins or so…while Katie was getting our paperwork together…she made time for a few texts on her phone while we stood there. Finally…the van pulled up and everything appeared fine…until you took a closer look. There were still dead bugs on front of car and was not really clean. The guy who did the walk around stated “they ain’t gonna charge you for anything unless you bring it back missing a door”. Let that be an indication of the condition of the vehicles they rent to you. Once we got the vehicle home…mot of the cup holders were gross and sticky, I found French fries and beef jerky under the seats. Needless to say…I re-cleaned the entire inside of the van. When my wife and I took it to the store to pick up items…I noticed a growling from the back of the van. I’ve driven long enough to know that is an sign of wearing tires. Van ran fine…but looking at other reviews it was par for the course. When we returned the van…my wife and I pulled in to random spots in the parking lot (attached are pictures of the spot I was in). My wife walked in and walked back out like 2 mins later since there was no one at the count. Katie came walking from the “car drop off area” and told my wife 2 times…”is that your ride (meaning me) and said I needed to move because I was in her managers spot”. Then made my wife drive the car down to the “drop off area” and get the miles and whatnot herself. NEVER had I have to do that with other places!! When inside…my wife overheard a conversation about another rental being pulled over and the plates didn’t match the rental. Again…Covid has done terrible things and I know how difficult it has been on many businesses. Rental companies are struggling from the aftermath…but the customer service I have received from other rental places during Covid was nothing like this and they still took pride in the vehicles. Good Luck if you have to deal with Avis and Katie. And by the way…her manager never came back to her “parking spot”
July 18 · sean houserVery nice. They didn't have the mini van I set reservations for so they gave me an upgrade. I needed a vehicle with lots of room so instead of a mini van they gave me suburban xl
March 30 · Jamie NazarioUnfortunately, this was a good location until a recent incident. I rented/returned vehicles through my company for the last 2 years here. I work on a ship and we do monthly crew changes where the guy coming to the vessel rents a car and brings it to the guy getting relieved (go home). So, the cars are always in different names etc - which can lead to confusion. The problem, I was being relieved and the individual rented through Avis (I would say use National / Enterprise preferably). He brought me a Toyota Rav. Since we were crew changing in Upper Michigan in December…at a dock, which is muddy. Well a week later I was notified they were charging a $450 cleaning for the vehicle liked I smoked in it or did some other negligent act. So… I’m assuming it was some Mud (on the driver side floor/mat) and possibly wet or something? and exterior had mud around the wheel well etc from the dock. It wasn’t that serious… it’s not like I took it to go off-roading lol. This location is in Ohio not Florida IN A RURAL AREA. You think - you would expect mud? No? This location must think they are in Miami!Anyways, they like to be petty at this location and before I was notified of this letter, I was actually booked another vehicle to return to the vessel from this location. It’s now posted various things that will cause a $450 cleaning charge - clearly posted everywhere. I rented the car anyways and was called by the company travel coordinator. That if I don’t return the car back to That Same location, they will bill the company $2,500… I thought this was a joke and I was required to waste half of my day dropping this car off and going to Enterprise to get another one. They know the car wasn’t going to return at that same location, the guy who takes it will go to the local airport and drop it off there.Upon returning the vehicle, she said it was a $250 fee and it’s because if not booked one way then the fee will be added and one way you get charged miles (I’m driving over 300 on average) - since when are they UHaul?Long story short, they suck, they are petty, and obviously will never deal With this particular location ever again - maybe Avis in general if this is truly a company policy and not this “Independent location Avis”.
