Please refer to the pictures of the Dodge Ram 1500 I reserved and paid for before I arrived. As you can see, very clean (inside and out!) and definitely not a Cheep Compass. I even got the “Yes, sir, we have honored your reservation, but don’t have the vehicle available” line. I really wish I could fail this badly at work and still get paid 35 million a year (CEO take home pay 2024). P.s. I see that every review gets the same generic auto response from Hertz, including this one.Sixt was awesome for my next rental. Just saying!
October 14 · Lynn LehmannWhat an absolute disaster of a rental experience.I rented a business vehicle for a week and was trying to return it just as I was about to start a personal family vacation. I lost the keys — fine, that happens — but thankfully I had good insurance, and I was eligible for tow service. Unfortunately, Hertz’s system had completely lost track of my rental extension, even though I had extended it multiple times both in-store and over the phone.Trying to reach a local store by phone? Forget it. They either disconnect you or hang up. After wasting hours, I finally got them to manually enter the extension so I could get roadside assistance.From there, it only got worse.I had made a separate reservation at MSP International Airport as a Gold Rewards member and requested an upgraded vehicle that could fit six people. Instead, the tow driver dropped me off at the wrong Hertz location. I was promised an Uber ride to the correct one — but since my car was already dropped off, I was told I’d have to pay for it myself.I finally made it to the right location by train (on my own), only to find that the staff couldn’t find my new reservation — because I gave them the case number, not the reservation number (totally understandable after the chaos). As a result, no free upgrade, and I ended up with a smaller car I didn’t even want.The cherry on top? Hertz somehow merged the two separate rentals, making the car due at 5 p.m. the same day — and none of this was what I agreed to online. While trying to drive, I had to pull over to fix all of this manually, and nobody at Hertz could call another branch for help.This system is a total mess. It wrecked the start of our vacation, delayed our departure by six hours, and stuck me with an expensive, downgraded rental I didn’t choose.Hertz has the worst computer system of any rental agency I’ve ever dealt with.Don’t let the Gold Rewards membership fool you — you’re on your own when something goes wrong. Terrible customer service, no internal communication, and zero accountability.Avoid Hertz if you value your time, money, or sanity.
August 04 · Tory SchaafUpdate- Now that’s its light outside. They gave me a vehicle that was in an accident.The ABSOLUTE worst. Do not rent from anything on the 4 floor here - Hertz, Thrifty or Dollar. Everybody except for the very first young guy and the exit, had an attitude because the I asked for the vehicle that I reserved and prepaid to be provided.I was first in and 6 people later and an hour later, I still had no vehicle.
August 10 · H.M. EnterpriseBesides the Ontatio, CA airport Hertz location this was probably the worst presidents circle selections I've ever encountered. The days of seeing a decent selection of anything larger than a compact SUV or mid sized sedan in Hertz presidents circle are over. New company ownership after Hertz BK clearly no longer cares about customer service and loyalty. I haven't seen a happy employee at Hertz in years and MSP was no exception. Staff at this location have a seriuos attitude and seem extremely inexperienced and understaffed. If Hertz treats their employees as poorly as their customers its not a surprise. It should never take over an hour after picking your vehicle to exit the lot. My years of presidents circle loyalty has run its course. Time to take my business elsewhere.
October 10 · Drone photographyThis is my first time renting from Hertz; I adore Enterprise. I was given a Hertz Gold Member account when I bought a new car from #1 Cochran VW in Wexford PA. I booked and paid in full for my Hertz rental car one week before my flight. I could not find the Hertz counter at the Minneapolis Airport MSP. I walked around for an hour with my baggage with no luck. There is NO SIGNAGE directing the traveler to Hertz. The “Gold Member” status is a joke. I was sold on it by Hertz saying bypass the line, go straight to your car, and drive away. COMPLETE LIE. It was a nightmare. I finally found the Hertz counter after asking an airport employee. Then I had to navigate a labyrinthine path of desolate corridors, a tunnel (!), escalators, an AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY sign on the door that the Hertz Gold Member (what a joke) counter signage arrow pointed to (it said (HERTZ GOLD MEMBERS PROCEED TO LOT ➡️) and the doors the arrow pointed to warned AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL ONLY. So forget “bypassing the line.” I had to stand in line to ask where I was allegedly supposed to just quickly and conveniently pick out my car and drive off. It took me just under THREE HOURS to finally watch that barrier arm go up so I could drive out of that airport. I felt like the Pope when he lands in a new country and gets out and kisses the ground. Nothing is clearly marked by Hertz: not the location of the counter, not the office, NOTHING. I will never rent from Hertz again.
