Terminal 2 Rental Car Return Introduce
The Terminal 2 Rental Car Return facility serves as a crucial point of service for many Minnesotans and visitors concluding their trips via the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). Located in the Ground Transportation Center adjacent to Terminal 2, also known as the Humphrey Terminal, this location is the designated drop-off point for vehicles rented from numerous on-airport agencies, including popular brands like Enterprise, Alamo, Sixt, Dollar, Thrifty, and others whose operations extend to this terminal.
Unlike a traditional car rental agency that focuses on the rental process, this facility's primary function is to provide an efficient and stress-free conclusion to your rental agreement. Its value lies in its direct connection to the terminal, allowing passengers—especially those flying on airlines specific to T2 (such as Sun Country, Southwest, and Frontier)—to quickly transition from their vehicle drop-off to the check-in and security process. The facility operates as an integrated airport parking and service area, ensuring a seamless experience.
Public feedback often highlights the speed and efficiency of the process upon arrival, particularly during busy travel periods, demonstrating the staff’s capability to handle high volumes of returns swiftly. While some customers have noted occasional confusion over processes like receiving printed receipts, the core function—a rapid and convenient vehicle drop-off—is generally well-executed and highly appreciated by departing travelers.
The Terminal 2 Rental Car Return is situated on the premises of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, making it exceptionally convenient for travelers departing from Terminal 2. It is important for local users to note the specific location to ensure a smooth return, as MSP’s two terminals are not connected by pedestrian walkways.
- Address: St Paul, MN 55111, USA (This address correlates with the airport's Terminal 2 infrastructure.)
The facility is physically located in the Ground Transportation Center, typically within the Purple Parking Ramp area, directly across from the terminal building. Drivers approaching MSP are advised to follow all overhead highway and airport signage specifically marked for “Terminal 2” or “Humphrey Terminal,” and then look for “Rental Car Return” signs. The return lanes are designed for quick processing.
In line with MSP’s commitment to passenger convenience, the Terminal 2 Rental Car Return area is designed with robust accessibility features:
- Wheelchair Accessible Entrance: The facility, and the connecting path to the terminal, provides an accessible entrance to accommodate all mobility needs.
- Wheelchair Accessible Parking Lot: The designated parking and return lanes are structured to ensure easy access for all customers, including those utilizing wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
The close proximity to the terminal is a significant benefit, minimizing the distance between vehicle drop-off and the airline check-in counters.
As a combination car rental agency service point and airport parking lot, the Terminal 2 Rental Car Return offers focused services essential for ending a rental period. While it does not function as a standard long-term parking facility, its location serves as the point of final transaction and drop-off for multiple rental companies.
- Vehicle Check-In and Inspection: A staffed return process where agents from the respective rental companies (e.g., Enterprise, Alamo, Sixt, etc.) conduct a final inspection of the vehicle, finalize mileage, and close the rental contract.
- After-Hours Drop-Off: Many on-site rental companies offer a secure, unstaffed drop-off option for returns made outside of typical business hours, allowing customers to return vehicles 24 hours a day to meet their flight schedules. Instructions for after-hours returns usually involve parking in the designated lane and leaving the keys in a marked drop box or inside the vehicle as directed.
- Final Receipt Processing: Agents are typically available during business hours to process final paperwork and provide electronic or print receipts, though the ease of obtaining a printed receipt may sometimes depend on the individual rental company’s specific procedures and staff availability.
- Proximity to Terminal 2 Check-in: The facility is steps away from the Terminal 2 building, allowing for immediate access to airline ticketing, baggage claim, and security checkpoints.
The Terminal 2 Rental Car Return offers specific features that enhance the efficiency and convenience of the airport drop-off experience for all travelers.
- Integrated Airport Location: Its key highlight is its direct, on-site presence at Terminal 2, eliminating the need for a separate shuttle bus ride—a crucial time-saver for departing flights.
- Multiple Payment Options: The facility, and the rental agencies operating within it, supports modern, flexible payment methods for any final charges, fees, or incidentals:
- Credit Cards: Standard acceptance of major credit cards.
- Debit Cards: Commonly accepted for rental closure and payment of fees.
- NFC Mobile Payments: Acceptance of near-field communication (NFC) methods, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, provides a fast, contactless payment option.
- On-Site Parking (Related): While its main use is for returns, its designation as an airport parking lot indicates its structure and clear layout are conducive to organized vehicle processing, which benefits the return speed.
- High Efficiency: Customer feedback often praises the swiftness of the return process, even during peak travel periods, noting the ability to drop off keys and luggage quickly and proceed immediately to the terminal.
As a central return location for multiple rental companies, the general address represents the physical location of the car return lanes. For specific questions regarding a rental contract, final fees, or after-hours procedures, customers should primarily contact the rental agency they booked with (e.g., Enterprise, Alamo, etc.) using the phone number provided in their rental agreement. The address for the physical return is:
- Address: St Paul, MN 55111, USA
- Phone: The primary contact should be the specific rental agency’s customer service or the general MSP Airport information line, as this address is a shared drop-off facility. No single phone number is provided for the "Terminal 2 Rental Car Return" facility itself, given its shared nature.
For residents and visitors utilizing Terminal 2 (Humphrey Terminal) for their flights, choosing the Terminal 2 Rental Car Return is the most logical and efficient choice. Its immense value lies in reducing the stress of a tight travel schedule. The process is designed to be a ‘piece of cake,’ allowing users to offload luggage and keys with minimal delay, which is particularly crucial when traveling during high-volume holiday or peak summer travel seasons, common in Minnesota.
The on-site location means there is no need to factor in extra time for an off-airport shuttle, a significant advantage in the often-unpredictable climate of the Twin Cities. Furthermore, the modern payment options, including NFC mobile payments, speak to a commitment to quick and convenient transactions.
The most important consideration for local users is preparedness. Since this is a shared return location, the quality of service for final paperwork—such as the confusion reported over printed receipts—will depend on the individual rental company’s policies and the specific agent you encounter. Renters are advised to confirm with their rental agency beforehand how they will receive their final receipt (email is often the fastest) and to save the number of their rental agency’s customer service. By navigating to the clearly marked signs and being ready for a quick transaction, the Terminal 2 Rental Car Return facility stands out as the ultimate convenience for concluding any Minnesota road trip or business journey.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Returned a rental from enterprise on labor day. Was very busy. They showed us where to park and was done asking us questions before I could hand them the key and get our luggage out of the trunk. Couldn't have possibly gone any smoother. Wasn't sure what to expect after reading reviews but ended up being a piece of cake!
September 03 · jeff dunnWas told to go to office to get printed receipt, person at counter said no can do and when i asked them to relay to the return agent to not send people to get a printed receipt that wouldn't be given he said idk who ur talking about. No apology for the misdirection or wait.
August 13 · Pam XAfter reading previous reviews online about terminal 2 pick up and return I was a bit apprehensive. However, I was pleasantly surprised. After you depart from your flight I would suggest going straight to pickup b/c theblines get long. You can scan the arcade while waiting for your car to hopefully make the process quicker. I waited inline about 1/2 hour.Upon return, I put in terminal 2 in my GPS and it took me right to where I needed to be despite all the construction everywhere it seems as tho you're going in circles but it's the way. I had to check my car in at 4am and knew there would be no staff, it's clearly lit and the signs are clear. LEAVE KEYS in the car. Simple. There is no way somebody could back out and take off because there were the spikes behind when you enter. All in all a great experience and would definitely rent at terminal 2 again.
August 20 · Barbara WOWThis place is difficult to get to and there is limited information on how to get to terminal 1.The people at the car rental were polite but I will avoid MSP whenever possible. The car rental area is miles from the gates. Not good.
August 08 · Ernie WoodThe rental return experience is fine, but there should be signs letting you know you are in terminal 2 and how to get to terminal 1.
