With its proximity to the Five Colleges consortium and its reputation as a cultural hub, the need for temporary or supplemental transport is consistently high. Enterprise aims to be a comprehensive solution for various needs, from personal errands to professional demands. Choosing Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Northampton is often a worthwhile decision for Western Massachusetts customers based on the brand’s extensive resources and the local branch's specific advantages. While some customer feedback suggests potential issues with vehicle availability and management processes, particularly around the reliability of reservations and customer service consistency, the overall structure offers several compelling reasons to choose this provider.
The global reach of the Enterprise brand means that even a local branch has the backing of a massive fleet and established procedures, which translates to a wide variety of car options, reliable roadside assistance, and a professional booking system. For many, the familiarity and trust associated with a national leader provide a level of security. Furthermore, the commitment to being a women-owned business and offering a tangible benefit like an active military discount demonstrates a positive engagement with the Massachusetts community that goes beyond the standard transaction. The physical accessibility for customers with disabilities is also a key differentiator, making it a reliable option for all members of the community who require a rental car or van.
However, when choosing any rental agency, especially in a localized and sometimes resource-strained market like a smaller city branch, the most prudent course of action is to reserve your vehicle well in advance. Following up with a phone call to confirm your reservation the day before or the morning of your scheduled pickup is highly advised. This proactive step can mitigate potential inconventies related to vehicle shortages or scheduling conflicts that have been noted by previous users, ensuring that your rental experience is as smooth and professional as possible when you need a vehicle to traverse Massachusetts.
Ultimately, the blend of a strong national brand presence with key local features like accessibility and specific discounts makes Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Northampton a powerful contender for your transportation needs in Western Massachusetts.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We have a corporate account with National/Enterprise and I rent from them all over the country, often. The service has always been very good. Occasionally I rent from the Northampton location, because of convenience for local business trips. On the last two occasions, they have called the day of the rental and asked if I can pick up later than I planned because they have no cars. I am now in the lobby (at the time they told be to be here ) with four other parties, waiting on cars. I now have to call my customer and reschedule a meeting because I will be three hours later than anticipated. So what is the purpose of reserving a car, being responsible, and planning ahead??? The way they manage the business here in Northampton has now affected my business, negatively. Hate to be blunt, but the management here and higher up needs to think about this. Not cool at all and not very professional. Feel bad for the staff here, but they don't seem to care either, so maybe not.Hope another brand comes to town soon.
September 09 · Peter GleasonLiterally the worst and most hostile customer service experience of my life. Didn't have the car I reserved, charged me the same amount for an inferior car, lied to me that they have zero control over pricing, and outright threatened not to rent me a car after I complained about the situation. This treatment was from someone who claimed to be a manager. There's very few options in the area but it would be quite difficult to do worse than this. To be fair the guy when I returned my car was quite friendly and apologetic but he claimed he'd have them contact me about my concerns and of course I received no follow up.
October 12 · Justin PTroy Schweitzer was the best. He took the time to explain and clarify everything clearly. The whole process was fast and smooth. He truly made the experience easy, highly recommended
October 17 · Francis ZhangCustomer service is lost. First I placed my reservation for 12pm, they called and said they couldn't do it till 5pm, but then they made it 5:30. I showed up 25 minutes early, because they close at 6pm, "because it's the right thing to do".I walked 1 hour to get to the office because my car was in the shop. I showed my identification and I was informed I would need to provide 2 forms of proof of address, I had 10 and they wouldn't accept any. Not a tax bill from the federal government, not my proof of insurance, not my w4, not a single credit card bill, and that's whatever. It is what it is, so I don't have the proper ID...my fault. Here are my specific problems. The person claiming I didn't have the proper ID, never once in the 45 minutes I was there dealt with me directly, only through a trainee "honestly a good kid" did he say yes or no to my proofs of address. He was dismissive, passive aggressive, and did not care one iota of my situation or even pretend to.After walking 1 hour, and running around on public transport since 9am, placing my reservation at 10am, and getting a call back stating "With ID and credit card your order is all set sir, at 5pm". I got to the location, calmly tried to resolve my issue for 40/45 minutes, the least you could do is give me your attention. I ended up leaving feeling defeated, flustered, and a little dissatisfied. I even left my darn credit card on the desk accidentally. Here's the kicker ! No phone call placed to tell me about my card, no one offered me a ride, even though I CLEARLY stated twice...I had just walked for an hour. Not one single attempt at eye contact or customer service was attempted. Making me feel like I was in the way, my time wasn't valued, or basic human emotion. Even though I was dropping so much money on a rental out of pocket. I even stated "My wife has all the information but she won't be able to walk here on time..."That's your cue Enterprise. Stand by that claim you always make online and in your advertising.Honestly, if they had kept the original appointed time I reserved online I could have resolved this issue. But they wouldn't have offered me a ride to do so anyway 😆
May 14 · Christopher WinslowHad a reservation booked for more than a week on a vehicle for an essential part of my job. Enterprise Northampton calls me barely twelve hours before I am due to pick up the vehicle to tell me they don't have it. I had to scramble at the last minute because of their incompetency.Totally absurd, profoundly dysfunctional. Would avoid at all costs.
