From start to finish, it was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had.When I first arrived, the car I was promised wasn’t available. I don’t mind driving any car—as long as it’s fully covered by insurance. However, the employee insisted I pay $30 in taxes, claiming insurance wouldn’t cover them. Needing a car that night, I reluctantly paid. The next day, I called my insurance company and learned she was wrong—insurance does cover taxes.Three days later, I called to switch to a smaller vehicle to stay within insurance coverage. The employee said it was available and I told her I’d be there in three hours. When I arrived, she had given the car away. I insisted on something that wouldn’t cost me extra, and she gave me an SUV—but again tried to charge me taxes. I asked her to call her manager, who confirmed that I should not be charged anything. I finally left with the car.But weeks later, I was charged $89.30 for taxes on my credit card. After a 45-minute call with Hertz customer service—who contacted the Fairport location on my behalf—the same employee still insisted I owed all the taxes. Exhausted, I accepted a partial refund just to end the call.I will never rent from this location again. Misinformation, poor communication, and a lack of accountability made an already stressful situation worse.
July 11 · Robin ThompsonThis experience went from good to bad really quickly. I booked a car for pick up at 9:00 AM last week and arrived punctually. When I arrived, the car wasn’t ready yet and the staff member I was speaking to (who was very friendly, I must add) assured me that my car would be ready shortly. I ended up waiting for about a half an hour until they finally told me that my car was ready. I went out to have a look around it and the worker told me that the driver’s seat was a little bit wet considering that he had just washed it and that he’ll leave some towels in the car that I can sit on. From his description, I figured that it wouldn’t be a problem and that there was only minor wetness, thanked him and put my bags in the car to start on my way. Immediately as I sat down on the seat, wetness started soaking through the bottom of my pants. Knowing that I had a 90 minute dive ahead of me, this wasn’t going to be acceptable. I went in to the office and explained that it wouldn’t be possible for me to drive this car with a sopping wet seat and asked if they had a couple of bath towels that I could borrow instead (the towels they gave me were small, thin towels used for wiping windows). They didn’t have any other towels, but offered me a different car altogether, so we went out to do the necessary inspection on this other car. I’d like to add that two of the workers were talking about this specific car to each other earlier on in the office and one of them said that he had the understanding that the car shouldn’t be rented out and the other worker said that it should be fine. I asked the worker if this car was suitable for being rented out and she assured me that it was. Anyway, we walked around the car together to mark where the damages were. I was amazed to see how many imperfections this car had. There were dents or scratches literally on every side of the car. Not only that, but it was blatantly evident that a thief had tried breaking into the driver’s side door at some point considering that there was significant damage along the driver’s side door and in the doorframe. When I opened the door, I was in awe at how filthy the interior of the car was. There were significant stains on ALL seats of the car and looked like it had never been cleaned before. Because I was already pressed for time, I reluctantly accepted the car and was out of the parking lot 45 minutes after I had arrived to pick my car up. As soon as I had left the parking lot, the digital gas gauge had already gone down one bar. Soon after that, I noticed that the car had alignment issues and constantly pulled to the right side. Overall, I had this car for 10 days total and had no pleasure in driving it. Upon returning the car to Hertz, I explained my dissatisfaction to them and the only response I received was a simple “sorry”. Needless to say, I certainly won’t be doing business with Hertz again.
April 08 · Matthew BoeckmannOh my gosh it was pouring rain and one young employee running the whole show .Car was spotless .I think she / he even detailed the Chevy blazer.Then upon my return I had minutes to get over to amtrack had an important meeting in NYCI ofcours was running late and ordered my Uber to amtrack station as I'm pulling into the satellite hertz location.There was a customer picking up a rental and I actually apologetically interrupted them as my Uber pulled up to ask if I could just leave key and car. She didn't get mad and I apologized to the person she was waiting on.Here's the kicker she must have worked on expeditiously closing out my ticket. And I know this because my Amex was credited back the hold hertz placed .It's more then worth the few extra miles to head to that locationThanks so much

By far the best customer service of any Hertz location.Updated 2/25/22 - I have reduced my former 5 Star review down to a 1 Star. The branch management has changed hands and the new onsite manager is sub par. Very poor customer skills and provides incorrect information. The branch manager fails to realize that they represent a brand and needs some positive training to reinforce the brand identity. I will continue to use Hertz in the future, but will be cautious before renting from this location again.

Not only did I incur an unexpected $108 fee that was eventually returned I know have been mistakenly charged $113 that I'm told "will take sometime to get back" because the car given to me while mine was being repaired wasn't properly marked as returned - even though the insurance has communicated to them and I the rental will be fully covered. If this has been expressed requiring a deposit in the first place clearly leads to nothing but trouble if you aren't keeping an eye on your bank account. 1 out of 10, do not recommend.
