I'm Emerald Executive status and have now twice waited about an hour to pick up a car, you have to wait in line with everyone else and they don't seem to have anything particularly luxurious (had a hyundai last time and an Escape this time - despite my usual request being for a European sedan)The app tells you that you can go pick out a car from the aisle, but when you get out there everything is locked and there's no sign of anyone. I probably rent 5-10x/year and the last two rentals here stand out as some of the worst I've ever experienced.
September 27 · Graham StewartI am an Emerald Executive Elite member and usually complete 2-3 different rental reservations per week for business as I am a frequent business traveler. I arrived at this location to pick up my rental for a work trip and was denied pickup and the reason given was because the reservation was placed on the same day. Yes, my 5:30pm reservation was placed online same day around 9am the same morning and which is not unusual for a corporate business traveler as our schedules and flights are subject to change. I also had a successful confirmation reservation number via the app along with the pickup details of my car. When I questioned this with the customer service representative he acknowledged that I did have a successful reservation within the app and that this directive was just implemented on today. As this is not a rental for leisure but for a business trip I begged and pleaded for them to honor the reservation that was accepted online via their system. My request was still denied and I was left to scramble to find another car so that I could still make it to work. Fortunately, I was able to find a car through a different at this airport.As a loyal customer that completes several rentals on a weekly basis and has already completed nearly 40 rentals this year alone this was very upsetting and just shows that National does not value loyal customers and not their business.I will be taking my business elsewhere for my company rentals after this.
May 13 · Deanna LoweryI was informed that my Executive Elite status holds no value, as I had to wait in line like everyone else, despite having made my reservation in advance. The lady at the counter, who appeared visibly frustrated since she was the only one working on a Sunday evening, blatantly violated the National policy that states Executive members do not need to wait in line. I will be canceling my membership and taking my business elsewhere, where being a loyal customer actually means something and does not depend on someone's mood.Update: I did contact the owner as they requested. Have not received response.
September 28 · Jelena LaehnI did two rentals with National at GSO. One went normally, the other had the slowest pick up experience I have ever had getting a rental car. I don’t know what caused the service delay but on that day but my wait time from check in to getting a car was 1h 20 min. They had no cars in the pick up area and a queue of 14-17 people during my pick up experience. I dropped my car off at DCA airport the next day and reported the issue. They did apologize and have customer service give me a discount on the rental. I was pleased their customer service was empowered to react to a service level gap like this.National can do better and needs improved process and tools for their staff when they run significantly behind servicing the pick up queue like they did that day. The staff had no tools to keep the customers informed where they were in the queue and updated about their expected wait estimated delay in pick up as the situation played out. There was also no seating (permanent or temporary) at the pick up location in the parking lot during the wait.I don’t know if this was a one time event or periodic occurrence at the GSO location.
June 25 · Richard FordThis was my first time renting from National, and I have nothing but good things to say about how they treated me from beginning to end. I make multiple long-distance weekend trips per year, and I am trying to preserve the mileage on my vehicle. I was in the market for a car rental company open after regular business hours, but the only places I could find were at the airport. National didn't require me to have a flight number, so this choice was a no-brainer. I wish I could remember the name of the attendant at the front desk and the name of the one who helped me when I returned the car. They were both very kind to me. This whole process was simple. It took less than thirty minutes to check in and get the keys and less than 5 minutes to park and give the attendant the keys when I returned. I chose luxury, so they put me in a 2025 BMW 228i xDrive Gran Coupe. It was the perfect little car for a quick weekend trip out of town.I am looking forward to doing business with National Car Rental - Greensboro Airport (PTI) again. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality!
