They were supposed to pick me up at the auto repair place which was in the same street about a quarter mile away from Hertz.The time I had arranged for pick up at the shop came up but no show from Hertz, whatever I walk down the road to deal with it.While I was walking down to their… office I rang their listed phone number and there was no response by the time I got there.I noticed there was CAUTION tape around the handicap ramp, there was a messed up Hertz van parked on the side, it looked like someone had crashed it. The whole set up looked like a crime scene. I was scared I’d find a dead body in the office if I peered through the locked glass door but I didn’t see one. I then decided to walk home. This was on a Tuesday. Later that day I got a call from some so called supervisor who assured me everything would be taken care of by 1 pm the next day. Well next day, Wednesday, 1pm came up and nothing so I spent about an hour looking for an explanation. Got in touch with a costumer service representative who “helped” me by escalating the situation to a supervisor… TWICE, but no call the rest of the day.Finally the next morning I get a call from said so called supervisor. I chewed them off, somehow they expected me to continue my business with them, they asked for my address, just like they did the day before.I then contacted the insurance company and demanded they cancel the booking with Hertz and book with Enterprise instead. They booked with Enterprise and I gladly walked to Enterprise the next morning, where they treated me with decency to say the least.
September 23 · Andres HMWorst experience I've ever had with a rental car company. My insurance booked a rental through them Monday evening, so I called when they opened at 8am on Tuesday. I spoke with Sandra, she told me she would have a midsize SUV for me at 10am. I arrived at 10:05am, the door was locked with a sign on it that said they were out of office assisting a customer and would be gone no longer than 30 minutes and left their number for immediate assistance. I called 5 times and no one answered. I waited until 10:50am, when Sandra finally came back to the office. She let me inside and took another call, so I had to wait another 10 minutes for her to get off the phone. Then she proceeded to tell me she had no appointment at 10am, I pulled up my confirmation number, but she said she would just look up my name. She then remembered speaking with me this morning, but told me she has no cars for me. She said she had one but gave it to another person at 9am because they were "ahead of me" in line. I asked her why she even told me to come at 10am then? She had no answer aside from she doesn't know what to tell me and that "[she] hopes [I] haven't been waiting since 10, she's been gone picking up another car since 9:30am". I said, yes, I've been waiting for an hour... because she told me to be here at 10. I even asked if I spoke to someone else on the phone because of how crazy the whole situation was. She said no, it was only her.She had 3 cars around back, but said they are all now reserved for Uber. She said she could give me an Lyft to Milford so I could get to work, and I could try calling Hertz Milford to see if they have a car in the afternoon, with no guarantee. Which means I would be stranded in Milford, 40 minutes from home, if they don't have a car. My insurance thankfully changed my reservation to Enterprise and they were INCREDIBLY helpful and respectful. Sandra later called me and told me she found me a "midsized" Elantra for me... which is a compact sedan, not a midsized SUV... like ??? DO NOT GO HERE, just go to Enterprise less than half a mile down the road.
October 08 · Anna CasaceliThe staff here deserve an award for their hard work and perseverance. They are efficient, helpful and always pleasant. They work, through no fault of their own, in a space that frankly needs a complete overhaul. The lot is too small and the building needs to be renovated. Despite these conditions, the manger and her associate are always helpful and efficient. I always patronize this Hertz due to the staff, their overall professionalism, and the convenience of the location!!
August 04 · Carolyn Speranza-HouleyI had a horrible experience just returning a rental car provided by my insurance. This location has no parking, and after waiting 25 minutes in line, the employee shouted at me to move the car I was trying to return—even though there was nowhere to park. When I explained that, he rudely told me there was a space “next to the white sedan,” which definitely wasn’t available when I arrived. The lot is tiny, and the way I was spoken to was both rude and unprofessional. On top of that, I was overcharged for extending the rental by just one day past my insurance coverage. If I ever have a choice, I’ll go with Enterprise every time instead.
August 29 · Stephanie NelsonThis is the absolutely worst experience I have ever had with Hertz. It started with showing up to pick up my rental at 10:04 am when I was scheduled to get it at 10:00am. There was a sign on the door that they were helping a customer and would return soon — no longer than 30 minutes. More than 45 minutes later, they finally returned so I could get my car. The car they brought around for me was the dirtiest car I have ever received from a rental company. There were bugs splattered all over the windshield and front of the car. The inside was OK (not really clean but not as dirty as the outside) but had a slight smell of smoke.Fast forward several weeks and I need to extend my rental because my car is not done at the body shop. The Hertz site is having some technical issue, so I could not do it there. So, I called the local office to get help. The phone rang more than 40 times before I finally hung up. To add to this (which his not a local issue), there is not main Hertz number I can find to speak with a rep. They all send me to the website — which is not working. I need to rethink my preference for using Hertz…
