TURO Introduce
For Minnesota residents and visitors looking for a flexible and varied alternative to traditional car rental agencies, Turo offers a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace. Turo connects local car owners (hosts) with guests in need of a vehicle, offering an expansive selection that often goes beyond what's available at standard rental counters. This model allows users in the Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota to choose the exact make, model, and year of the vehicle they want, whether it’s a rugged SUV for a trip up to the North Shore or a fuel-efficient compact car for navigating downtown Minneapolis and Saint Paul.
Instead of relying on a corporate fleet, Turo's marketplace is powered by local entrepreneurs, giving you access to a diverse range of vehicles for any occasion, budget, or need. The app-based experience is designed to minimize paperwork and waiting in lines, making the process of securing a vehicle in the Land of 10,000 Lakes seamless and convenient.
While Turo operates primarily through its online platform, one major hub for vehicle pickup and drop-off is at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP). The provided address, 4300 Glumack Dr, St Paul, MN 55111, USA, corresponds to MSP's Terminal 1, a key location for travelers arriving in or departing from the Twin Cities area.
For customers utilizing this major transport hub, Turo hosts often coordinate vehicle drop-off and pickup within the airport's permitted parking ramps or designated areas, offering a convenient alternative to long lines at a rental counter. Specific instructions for finding your reserved vehicle in the Terminal 1 Parking Ramp or other authorized airport locations are provided by the host through the Turo app.
Accessibility Features at MSP (Terminal 1 - 4300 Glumack Dr):
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- On-site parking, typically utilized by hosts for vehicle hand-off.
It is important to note that Turo’s core strength lies in its ability to offer thousands of pickup locations across Minnesota. Many hosts offer flexible delivery to custom locations, including your home, hotel, or other travel hubs in areas like Rochester, Duluth, or even smaller towns across the state, making it a highly accessible choice regardless of your specific destination within Minnesota.
As a peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace, Turo facilitates a wide array of services designed to meet diverse travel needs. These services are offered by individual hosts through the platform, allowing for personalized experiences and flexible booking options. Common services and trip types facilitated through the marketplace include:
- Car Rentals: Standard daily, weekly, or monthly bookings for general use.
- Vehicle Rental: A general category covering the booking of any available vehicle type.
- Car Delivered: The option to have your chosen vehicle brought directly to your preferred location, often for a fee determined by the host, or sometimes complimentary.
- Custom Delivery: A specific service where hosts may deliver the vehicle to a custom address, such as your hotel or private residence, beyond standard delivery points like airports.
- Business Trips: Suitable vehicles and booking structures for corporate travel needs in the Twin Cities area.
- Vacation Rental: Booking vehicles perfect for longer family vacations, whether exploring the Boundary Waters or hitting the Mall of America.
- Day Trips: Options for short, single-day use, ideal for a quick escape to a state park or a nearby town.
- Minivan Rental: Access to spacious minivans for larger families or groups.
- Jeep Car: The ability to select specific off-road capable vehicles like Jeeps, often favored for Minnesota’s varied terrain and winter conditions.
- Emergency Roadside Assistance: Included with every trip, ensuring 24/7 support in case of a breakdown or issue.
The marketplace model offers distinct advantages over traditional car rental companies, particularly for those in a large and spread-out state like Minnesota. Key features and highlights include:
- Unmatched Vehicle Selection: Access to hundreds of unique makes and models, including SUVs, trucks, luxury cars, electric vehicles, and sports cars, allowing you to choose the exact vehicle you want, not just "a compact or similar." This is especially useful in Minnesota, where specific vehicle types like all-wheel-drive SUVs are highly sought after in the winter.
- Convenient, App-Based Experience: The entire process, from browsing and booking to checking in and communicating with your host, is handled via a mobile app, eliminating the need to wait in long lines at a physical counter.
- Flexible Pickup and Drop-off: Hosts frequently offer delivery options to airports (like MSP Terminal 1), train stations, and custom locations, providing greater flexibility than fixed rental agency spots.
- Protection Plans: Every rental includes third-party liability insurance, and guests can select from different protection plans (Premier, Standard, or Minimum) to choose the level of coverage that best suits their needs.
- 24/7 Roadside Assistance: Support is available around the clock to help you get back on the road in the event of an emergency.
- Local Host Community: You are renting from local entrepreneurs who often have extensive knowledge of the vehicle and the Minnesota area, sometimes offering personalized service you won't find elsewhere.
As a technology platform, Turo does not operate a traditional, fixed retail counter, with the address often associated with the most frequent meeting point for bookings in the Twin Cities. For direct contact and booking, customers utilize the mobile app or official website. However, the physical point-of-interest most associated with pickups and drop-offs for this region is:
Address: 4300 Glumack Dr, St Paul, MN 55111, USA (Corresponds to Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, Terminal 1)
Phone: Please refer to the Turo website or app for customer support contact information, as a public-facing local phone number for this address is not provided.
Choosing Turo is about prioritizing choice, convenience, and flexibility for your travel needs across Minnesota. The opportunity to bypass the traditional rental counter experience, especially at a major hub like MSP, is a significant draw. Rather than settling for the "closest available" car, you can specifically book a vehicle tailored to Minnesota's unique demands—perhaps a comfortable SUV with ample cargo space for a family trip to a cabin near Lake Superior, or a reliable all-wheel-drive sedan perfect for navigating the unpredictable winter weather in the Twin Cities.
The custom delivery option means your vehicle can meet you where you need it most, whether you're arriving from out of state or simply need a temporary car while yours is in the shop. While the experience is highly dependent on individual hosts, the system is designed to provide a streamlined, digital process. It is important for all prospective users to review the company's policies regarding approvals, as some customer reviews indicate that denials and account actions can occur without detailed public explanation. Nevertheless, for the user who values a wide selection of cars and a highly localized, flexible pickup process for their Minnesota journey, Turo represents a modern, powerful alternative in the local car rental landscape.

TURO Reviews
I had an extremely disappointing experience with TURO. I applied to rent a vehicle and was unexpectedly denied. When I reached out via chat to get clarification, instead of helping me, they abruptly closed my account.Their lack of transparency and refusal to provide any real explanation is unacceptable. If they are going to deny someone service, they should at least provide clear reasons and a chance to address any potential mistakes. Instead, they chose to shut me out entirely with no recourse.I would not recommend TURO to anyone looking for reliable customer service or fair treatment. If they can falsely deny me, they can do it to anyone.
