There was one person working, and it took about 10-15 minutes for him to check in each person individually, which was not a big deal because I was second in line. After getting everything set up in the system, the desk agent had me sign off that the car had no scrapes before I had seen it. I pointed this out and he said to just bring back the form if I had any issues. At this time I’d been there about 30 minutes.When making the reservation, I reserved a small car, and they provided a Ford Explorer, which was not ideal because it felt huge. (The person in front of me at check-in asked for a smaller vehicle and the desk agent said they didn’t have any.) The exterior looked like it hadn’t been washed and the windows were all open. As I was taking pictures of the car, a man was sitting in the corner of the garage watching me and not saying anything, which was a little strange. I went to the passenger side of the vehicle to take pictures, and there was a mark as though the car had been keyed in one long line, running the length of the back door and about halfway down the passenger door. I went back to the desk, and I waited while another person was checking in. By this time, I was about 45 minutes total at the car rental location. When it was my turn, I told the front desk agent about the scratch and he made a mark on my form then said I was fine.I went back to the car, same guy is there staring, and I got in the vehicle and the chemical smell was extremely strong. I debated going back in again, but I was already late for a meeting and almost an hour delayed. It didn’t look like it had been cleaned as much as wiped with a Lysol wipe. The vehicle also had an “oil change needed” alert that was on the dash display every time I started the car. The garage was under construction and so when I followed the signs out, I came to a dead end and had to ask construction workers there how to get out.As the chemical smell wore off, it was apparent that it had been used to try to mask the smell of cigarettes. I was about 20 mins away from the rental location when I realized this, but didn’t want to turn around and ask for another car again - I was already missing multiple meetings I had traveled to attend. Instead, I spent my time in the car with the windows down in 40° weather.On drop-off the man who had been sitting in the corner yelled from the same spot to take a picture of my mileage and give him my keys. I did as asked, and then went into the desk area to check out. There were two front desk agents, one was checking in a customer and another customer was waiting in line. I gestured for him to go first and the agent without a customer said, “Does he have a car to return?” in a scolding way. I did not know the answer to her question and said so. She said no and called me up to the counter. She was not friendly but switched when she asked how I liked my car since I picked it up from the same location, and I said it smelled like cigarettes. She said that happens because the cleaners wear masks so they can’t smell it. If I am charged a cleaning fee for the smell that is already there, I will update this post.I rent cars frequently for work, and this was my first and last time using this location. Most other rental sites have many more options, more efficiency, and 24-hour key drop off that doesn’t take more than a couple of seconds. I would recommend trying somewhere else.
April 11 · Natalie MExtremely poor customer service. My return time was 4:30pm. I was there by 4:35pm but the lady at check out desk was busy with another customer and couldn’t attend me until 5pm. When I approached her desk she stepped away to take a personal call. My train was leaving in 30 minutes so I tried to convey the urgency but she didn’t seem to care. She finally attended me at 5:20 and charged me $170 extra saying that I will be charged for an extra hour. When I tried explaining her how this is fair she asked me to call to NJ office to get the refund as I had picked up my car from NJ. This made absolutely no sense. I tried calling NJ office but no response. I am left with no choice but to dispute this charge with my credit card. Never renting a car from this people again!!!!
September 12 · ANJALI GHADIAThis is one of the best Avis local offices! As a PC member, I am always recognized. Cars are very clean and low mileage. The staff are friendly and super quick, even when it is a busy holiday weekend. They do their best to solve any problem. Its worth a couple of extra stops on Metro North just to rent from here.
July 15 · JSI returned my rental with fuel tank full I have a picture to prove it right next to mileage when it was returned. Yet, I was charged almost $100.00 for charge. I called and they said I would be refunded. Really annoyed that they charge triple the amount of gas that I put in. Make it make sense. I've rented many times with Avis but they just lost a customer with their scheme.

As a regular at this location, I don’t understand some of the negative reviews here. My cars have always been great, clean, with low mileage. When Avis overbooks this location at busy times, like July 4th weekends, the location staff go out of their way to ensure cars are available. They also support Uber now, but I don’t think those reviews should be included here. I strongly recommend.
