I reminded my dad, “Check if they have an AARP discount.” Vicky rudely interrupted and said, “We don’t.” The price was suddenly $20 higher than we were quoted online. Vicky refused to add our Gold Member discount even though we had a paper showing the member ID number. My dad wanted to add me as a backup driver and Vicky informed us that I would need a declarations page from my insurance company in addition to my insurance card. I said to my dad, “I think I might have one of those in the car.” Vicky rudely interrupted again, “Well go get it then!” I ran out to my car and was unable to find the declarations page. When I returned, Vicky mumbled that I would have to call my insurance company. When I asked her to repeat what I was to ask my insurer for, she laughed at me, acted like I was stupid, and spoke slowly and loudly as if I was deaf, “ASK THEM FOR THE COMPREHENSIVE COLLISION COVERAGE.” My insurer confirmed that I had the correct amount of coverage to be a backup driver. Vicky then asked for my driver’s license and told me that it was expired. I said, “My license expires at the end of June. It’s May.” We were finally able to rent the vehicle. You have a real problem with Vicky and you should train her how to interact with customers in the correct manner. That was some of the worst customer service I’ve ever received and if I talked to callers like that in my job, I would probably get fired! In addition, when we tried to add this rental vehicle to our EZ-Pass account, we received a message that the vehicle had outstanding Toll By Plate charges associated with it. When we tried to switch vehicles at the New Castle, PA Hertz, the associate told me that I was unable to do so because the vehicle was privately owned and licensed specifically to the Johnstown, PA Hertz. This was never disclosed to us when we initially rented the vehicle. Because of this horrible experience, we will no longer rent from Hertz. We will give our business to companies that treat customers with respect!
May 16 · Bee YThey take all your information and you take the extra step to save time at the desk by giving them your card and license and they run your credit score?! The website says nothing about this, and that they don't take debit cards if your score isn't high enough and you're not using a credit card in the first place. They can't run your credit as a part of the process for setting up your reservation and saving time at the register. This is complete and utter crap! For people that don't know this and get an Uber here to pick up the rental because they don't have a vehicle to use is really making whatever that person is going through worse. And besides Enterprise and Payless, they are the only game in town with reliable stock! Plus their customer service is terrible here. Their employees talk with a cold unfeeling tone and I was at the counter for a time before they came to assist me, the one employee was playing games on her phone. Also, in this day and age and economy, not everybody has a credit card and perfect credit, and not everyone wants to deal with a real bank and the horrible way they treat customers, which is where online banks excel, but they're not considered real banks and debit cards because they aren't brick and mortar. Nevermind the fact that Bancorp is a real bank and they own Chime and their cards say Visa in them, so that makes them real as well. But everyone is going with that crappy stigma! Also, they don't come out to my town which is only 6 miles away, so you have to pay extra for an Uber which there aren't many around here!
May 07 · Matthew LaneAttempted to get a rental from here in an emergency, called and was informed they had a full sized suv available at the time and when i questions if I need to call the insurance company to set up the reservation, the man said no. Arrived at the airport where the man I spoke with quickly walked away and sent a woman over to speak with me. She then informed me that I needed to call my insurance if I needed to rent through them (after being told I didn't need to over the phone), the lady then informed me they had no full size SUVs available.. I had called 15 minutes prior and the man told me they were available. Needless to say, they were extremely useless and I wouldn't recommend unless you like trash customer service and rude employees.
February 08 · Samantha MossI’m Very disappointed. I am a minority shareholder of Hertz global holdings and a member of their gold loyalty program. I reserved a rental for a week and decided to extend it for a couple days.Immediately from pickup it seemed as though they were trying to get more money out of me to begin with. So what happened when I tried to extend my rental didn’t completely surprise me. I had credit card issues and spoke to the manager about that, and the extra amount discrepancies that incurred when they tried to charge my card on the phone, for second day in a row (amount doubled).Financials aside, the manager was extremely rude, unaccommodating, and not understanding. She even made the mention of going to the authorities over a potential 2 day late return, which certainly would rub any customer the wrong way.Furthermore, I feel as though I was treated in such a manner because of my young age with an assumption that I was ignorant and she could provoke fear out of me.No customer deserves that treatment, regardless of disadvantages or misunderstandings and someone so ill-mannered and intolerant does not belong in a leadership position.I hope to have a better experience later. They need to do better.
March 15 · Eric GambleJST airport is tiny and it is great that there is a Hertz location here. It closes at 5 PM weekdays, but there is a flight from Chicago that comes in (usually) at 10:20 PM. I was on that flight and I had called to see if there was a way to get a car after 5 PM. The agent was very helpful and said she or another agent would be there when the flights lands. Our flight was substantially delayed until 2:20 AM, and I was completely surprised that the agent was there with our keys for the car. Shout out to Caitlin for being there at such an inconvenient time!
