Southport Transportation Introduce
For many families and caregivers in Southeast Wisconsin, securing reliable and compassionate transportation for individuals with disabilities or special needs is not just a matter of convenience—it is an essential link to independence, medical appointments, and daily life programs. In Kenosha, a service dedicated to this vital role is **Southport Transportation**. Operating out of its 34th Avenue location, Southport Transportation identifies its core business as a handicapped transportation service, catering to those who require specialized, accessible transit solutions that standard public or private options cannot adequately provide.
The importance of this service in the Kenosha community cannot be overstated. Accessible transportation removes barriers, allowing individuals with mobility challenges or cognitive delays to participate fully in life's routines, from medical treatments to day programs. As a provider in this specialized sector, Southport Transportation aims to offer the crucial vehicle and expertise needed to safely and comfortably transport clients. This often involves vehicles equipped with lifts or ramps and drivers trained to handle mobility devices and various special needs.
However, potential users, especially caregivers and families of special needs individuals in Wisconsin, should approach their choice of transportation provider with careful consideration of the service experience. Customer feedback is critical when assessing a specialized service like this. Unfortunately, some customer accounts of interactions with Southport Transportation raise serious concerns regarding professionalism and basic respect. One specific review mentioned an exceptionally negative experience with a staff member named Chris, citing rude behavior, shouting, and a complete lack of concern regarding the early drop-off of a cognitively delayed and deaf daughter at a program that was not yet open. The caregiver felt disrespected and unsupported, stating, "Being a caregiver and a parent of a special needs person is difficult enough without dealing with unprofessional jerks like this guy! Not once did i raise my voice! I demand the same respect!" This highlights that while the service itself (the vehicle) may be necessary, the human element of scheduling, communication, and driver conduct is just as paramount.
Another customer review focused on driver conduct outside of the immediate client interaction, detailing a highly concerning instance of dangerous driving and road rage in a public place. This included speeding in a parking lot, nearly causing an accident, and aggressive tailgating and honking at a driver with a child in the car. The reviewer expressed a desire to "Retrain your drivers to have some respect," questioning the professionalism and attitude of the company's representatives.
Prospective customers must weigh the essential nature of specialized handicapped transportation against these significant reported deficiencies in customer service and driver professionalism when choosing a provider in the Kenosha area.
Southport Transportation is located in a central area of Kenosha, offering convenience for pickups and drop-offs within the local Wisconsin community.
The physical address for the facility is: 6606 34th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142, USA. This location is situated for local Kenosha access, facilitating their specialized transportation routes throughout the city and surrounding areas.
In terms of physical accessibility, which is crucial for a handicapped transportation service, the location provides an important feature:
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
While the parking lot is accessible, prospective clients should confirm all aspects of the facility's accessibility and vehicle accommodations prior to booking their first ride.
Southport Transportation operates as a specialized transportation provider focused on meeting the mobility needs of individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities. This type of service is typically non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) or paratransit-style service, though the exact scope should be confirmed by calling the company directly.
The core service offered by Southport Transportation is:
- Handicapped Transportation Service: Providing vehicle access and transport for individuals using wheelchairs or with other mobility and intellectual challenges who cannot utilize standard public transit or private vehicles.
While specific details on the types of trips (e.g., medical appointments, day program transfers, personal errands) are not detailed in the public information, similar services in the region typically include:
- Scheduled Route/Program Transportation: Transporting clients to and from recurring day programs, schools, or employment centers.
- Door-to-Door Service: Assisting clients from their origin to their destination door, often including securing the individual in the vehicle.
- Wheelchair Accommodation: Utilizing vehicles equipped with lifts and tie-downs for safe wheelchair and mobility device transport.
It is important for clients to note that services such as scheduling, driver conduct, and adherence to designated times are integral parts of the transportation service quality and should be clearly discussed and agreed upon during booking.
For clients in the Wisconsin area seeking specialized transport, Southport Transportation has specific operational features that define their service delivery, as well as areas of concern based on customer experiences.
- Specialization: The company focuses explicitly on handicapped transportation, suggesting a dedicated fleet and understanding of accessible transit needs.
- Local Operation: Their Kenosha location allows them to focus on serving the immediate Southeast Wisconsin community.
- Wheelchair Accessible Premises: The inclusion of a wheelchair accessible parking lot provides a necessary convenience for those visiting the office location.
- Customer Service Concerns: A major highlight, though negative, is the reported unprofessional conduct of staff and drivers, including rude communication and dangerous driving, which necessitates a strong caution for prospective clients.

Choosing a handicapped transportation provider in Wisconsin is a decision that impacts the safety, dignity, and daily routine of a vulnerable individual. The primary value of Southport Transportation lies in its specialization as a dedicated handicapped transportation service. This focus is inherently worth considering because it means the company operates vehicles specifically designed and equipped for wheelchair users and other special needs, fulfilling a vital requirement that standard taxi or ride-share services often cannot meet.
However, for caregivers and families, the most crucial consideration is often not the vehicle itself, but the reliability and respect with which the service is delivered. The detailed customer reviews indicating severe issues with customer service, professional conduct, and adherence to appropriate drop-off protocols—specifically concerning a non-ambulatory, intellectually disabled, and deaf individual—are significant red flags that cannot be ignored. The reported incidents of verbal rudeness, unprofessional communication, and reckless driving directly undermine the goal of safe and reliable service, which is paramount in this sector.
In conclusion, while Southport Transportation fulfills a critical need in the Kenosha area by providing specialized, accessible vehicles, prospective clients are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and diligence. It is essential to conduct thorough vetting, request references, and perhaps conduct a trial run before fully committing to this service. The well-being and respectful treatment of the individual being transported must be the foremost consideration, demanding nothing less than professional, courteous, and safe conduct from all staff members at all times. Families in Wisconsin should explore all available local transportation options, including other private providers or county-run paratransit services, to ensure the highest possible standard of care and professionalism.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Absolutely horrible customer service! Especially the man by the name of chris who i spoke to. Speaking over me and raising his voice. My daughter was scheduled to receive transport through this company. She was dropped off at the day program 30min prior to the program even opening the doors. Basically told by Southport to deal with it or find another company for transport. My daughter is intellectually and cognitively delayed and deaf. They don't see a problem with dropping off an individual 30min prior to the appointed time! Then if you call for assistance they are rude and unprofessional! When I repeatedly asked him to tone down his voice and not raise his voice to me he hung up on me! Being a caregiver and a parent of a special needs person is difficult enough without dealing with unprofessional jerks like this guy! Not once did i raise my voice! I demand the same respect!
October 06 · Romona NunezHeavy set lady with curly brown reddish hair, blue hoodie. EXTREMELY rude to the gas station clerk. Then she sped off in the gas station parking lot almost hitting my car. Almost rear ended me when I had to stop at the yellow arrow. Started honking at me when I wouldn’t turn because there were cars coming and I had my daughter in the car. Retrain your drivers to have some respect. If you hate your job so much you have to disrespect people and have bad road rage maybe find a new job? Would rate these guys a zero if I could.

February 12 · L VI use to not have trouble with them at all. Now I been having trouble. When I leave my transportation on a will-call (calling them to let them know I am ready to be picked back up to go back home from my destination). It takes for me to call them 3/4 times to actually get someone to pick me up with my kids. I have never came cross this trouble. Now today I had it as a request that I would need help. Driver just sat there looking at me, my daughters and the road. My brother in law who also is another person that can’t drive, he seen me struggling, he came and helped me. License plate number that is a temporary one in the window is W4603R.I have been so irritable with them.
December 22 · Christina BakerThis is a horrible transportation service. Luke and Fred have poor customer service and don’t know how to communicate with their customers. They are very rude. They are the reason why I have a ring camera. They would pull up, open the side door, allow my brother to get in but wouldn’t allow for him to seat belt himself in without closing the door before pulling off. This has happened on many occasions and each time it was addressed. ( I know I should’ve cancelled services long before now) but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt. Well today I had had enough, they lied and stated that they had pulled up to my residence to pick up my brother but my camera has no footage of them ever showing up, I had spoke with Luke explaining the situation which he was very rude. Long story short we were supposed to meet so I could show him the footage of them never showing up, but he left early so I had to encounter Fred up pawn my arrival ( whom also is very rude). They know that they never showed up.. Please people never utilize this transportation service for your love ones especially if they can’t advocate for themselves… signed a frustrated sibling
