★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1On 9/27/25 I went to pick up a vehicle that my husband and I had a prepaid reservation for (Paid $127online).The woman at the counter was on her cell phone talking to a friend on speaker and I had to wait for her to finish her conversation before being helped. This I did not mind at the time, but in retrospect really bothers me since she made an error that cost me over $400.When she finally got to me I told her I was picking up the prepaid rental and gave her my husband's name to look it up with. She then said, "ahh this will have to be under your name since you are the one picking it up". She told me that she would transfer the reservation to my name and that my husband would still be able to drive.Once she drew up the new paperwork I noticed that the total was now $242.12. I asked her why it was so much more when I had prepaid for it, and she said it was due to the deposit that I had to put down and I would be reimbursed that amount after returning the car. I also noticed the the new paperwork that she drew up had Lorton Virginia listed as the return location and not Albany NY where we had specified in the original reservation. When I asked her about that she said it didn't matter because we are allowed to return the vehicle to any budget location. I should have known better but we were on a time crunch so I dismissed my intuition, signed all of the paperwork, and left with the vehicle.The vehicle itself was clean and undamaged. While driving back to Albany I noticed that my credit card was charged for $442.12. This was in addition to the $127 that was already charged. We decided we would make sure and ask about the charges when turning the car back in.When we got to the counter at the Albany location I asked the rep about the charges and what the total would be once I was refunded the deposit. He said he was unsure but noted there would be a one way restocking fee between $100-$500 because we did not return the car to Lorton as noted on the agreement. I explained to him the situation and asked to make sure that I wasn't double booked because my original reservation listed Albany. That is when the rep found that I indeed had been double booked. I asked if he could fix the situation and he said the only ones able to do so would be corporate at the 1800 #.So in the end I was only refunded the original prepayment of $127 by customer care. They told me that because the reservation in my name was already closed, they were unable to do anything with it because they cannot modify it once closed.After this I will not EVER rent from Budget again! I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the Lorton Virginia location in the Comfort Inn. Either the worker is extremely incompetent, or a scam artist. Regardless those are not traits I look for.***Update*** after emailing Budget customer service as suggested in the response and noting the case number I got an email telling me that I was charged the correct fee. The original quote was from Springfield Virginia to Albany NY and the 2nd more expensive quote was for returning the car to Springfield. This company does not care about people! Do NOT rent from them unless you're looking to get ripped off.

Totally weird and random reason and not valid for me to delay my rental 2,5 hours and ruin my travel plans. At least their customer service was understanding and helpful later on and compensated some.
September 30 · Mellie SchI just want to say, the women at the counter last Friday, 8/1 was awesome. She is very sweet and a good listener. However she has no authority to help you out. I had a reservation for that day, and I actually showed up 30 minutes earlier than my reservation had called for. I walked in and was greated with a big smile and a very warm and inviting personality. Then I was told she does not have my rental. I did the pay in advanced, and so technically they had already taken the funds out of my account. She said maybe someone will be back, and I could have that rental. So I waited until almost 5:50 and nothing. She then told.me I could go to the airport and get a rental. As my wife and kids were already waiting on me, and our B&B was waiting on us, and I thought I was out of luck. Then she said I could go to reagen airport to pick up a rental. This would had put an additional 2 hours on my drive, as we were leaving from woodbridge, VA and traveling south towards Fredricksburg then towards Williamsburg. I simply did not have the time to go out of my way and fight heavy traffic. Anyways, the woman was very nice, but has no authority or power to do anything for you. She said corporate let's people rent and reserve vehicles as much as they want and she has no power to correct this when they have more reservations than they do vehicles.I wouldn't even had left this review if it wasn't for Avis / Budget taking my money and not returning it. It counts as I did not pick up my rental. However, that was not by choice. So basically they told.me I was S.O.L. and they will be pocketing my 300 dollars. I'm not mad, but a lesson learned hard, is a lesson never forgotten. I just feel bad for anyone who would have to take a hit like that but can not afford it.Hopefully my money helps them invest in business strategies that help them build on what seems to be a long running brand that is being mismanaged and slowly bleeding itself out. Execs have a tendency to do that when all they care about is thier own vacations and bank accounts. It's easy to disassociate yourself when you don't care.Call me old school, but this country use to have a code of honor, and if you didn't use the goods or have the goods, then you don't pay for them, but if your good at sliding things into the paperwork for people to sign, then they can just take your money regardless.I had to go to enterprise (loisdale) , with less than 10 minutes until they close, and my man Nate took care of me. He said that just wasn't tolerated and he didn't get into the customer service business to have customers go home unhappy and empty handed. He called 4 other places and with in about 5 minutes he had a suitable vehicle for me to take my family on a weekend getaway to the beach. I saw this man, tell his staff start dialing numbers they were not leaving until I rode out of thier with a bug enough SUV to fit the family comfortably. He didn't have to do that for me last minute, but it shows you the difference in priorities between the two very large companies.If you take anything away from this,Go see nate at enterprise, he doesn't let excuses fly in lieu of customer service.
August 05 · Anthony HeadyIf I could give this place zero stars, I would gladly do so. This has to be the worst car rental location I’ve ever visited! The employees were asleep when I arrived and then I was told that no cars were available and that I would need to look elsewhere. What?! At least Enterprise will ask other, nearby offices if they have any cars available. I was better served if I had let the employees stay asleep.

I asked if any other location and she said try airport. No alternative offered. I asked do you have any other cars and she said nothing. I have zero cars. Then why is she even there and why online system let you book it? Really upsetting.
