Diamond Transportation Service Introduce
For many residents in Northern Virginia, including those in Fairfax County, the term "car rental" goes beyond simply renting a vehicle for personal use. It often refers to essential, specialized transportation services required to maintain mobility and independence. Diamond Transportation Service, situated in Springfield, VA, operates in this vital sector, focusing on the critical area of Handicapped transportation service and other dedicated transit needs. They are not a traditional car rental agency that leases out standard passenger vehicles; rather, they function as a specialized transportation provider for individuals and groups.
Diamond Transportation Service, which operates as a part of National Express Transit, has extensive experience in the Washington Metropolitan area, particularly with paratransit, shuttle operations, and student transportation. Since winning its first paratransit contract in 1980, the company has concentrated on providing tailored transit solutions for persons with disabilities and various public and private organizations. This includes services for local transit authorities, schools, and organizations requiring dedicated, reliable, and accessible transport. Their comprehensive offerings are designed to ensure riders who cannot use fixed-route public transit due to disability have a safe and reliable way to travel throughout the region.
It is important for local users in Virginia to understand the company’s core mission. They provide essential services such as Wheelchair Accessible Services and Paratransit Service, often under contract with local government entities like the City of Alexandria’s DOT program. This means their operations are highly regulated and focused on scheduled, door-to-door transportation for certified eligible riders, distinguishing them significantly from standard rental companies. While the company's commitment to providing these necessary services is clear, potential and current riders should also note the importance of open communication with the dispatch and driver teams to mitigate reported customer service issues and ensure a smooth transit experience.
Diamond Transportation Service is located at 7307-C, B, Highland St in Springfield, VA 22150, USA. Springfield is a key community within Fairfax County, offering a central base for serving the extensive Northern Virginia area, including parts of Arlington County, Fairfax City, Falls Church, and even Washington, D.C., especially under specific government paratransit contracts.
The physical office location on Highland St is an operational hub for their fleet of specialized vehicles, rather than a walk-in counter for individual car rentals. Users typically interact with the service via phone for booking and dispatching, as the service is door-to-door. This central location facilitates the logistical management required for complex route scheduling, driver deployment, and fleet maintenance necessary for running a large-scale paratransit and student transportation service.
Given their specialized mission, the location ensures basic physical accessibility standards are met. The facility features a Wheelchair accessible parking lot, which is crucial for employees, visitors, and any customers who may need to visit the administrative offices or vehicle lot directly. The true measure of accessibility for this service, however, lies in its fleet, which includes vehicles equipped with lifts or ramps to provide essential Wheelchair Accessible Services for its riders.
Because this is an operational base and dispatch center, specific public transit accessibility details for customers visiting the office are less critical than for a typical retail storefront. However, its location within a major area of Northern Virginia makes it strategically positioned to connect with the region’s expansive road network, ensuring drivers can quickly reach customers across a broad service area.
As a specialized provider, Diamond Transportation Service offers a robust suite of transit solutions focused on accessibility and scheduled, safe travel:
- Handicapped Transportation Service: Providing essential, specialized door-to-door transportation for individuals with disabilities, ensuring they can access appointments and daily activities safely.
- Paratransit Service: Operating as a key contractor for local government agencies (like Alexandria DOT), offering curb-to-curb service for certified riders who cannot use standard fixed-route public transportation.
- Wheelchair Accessible Services: Maintaining a fleet of vehicles equipped with necessary amenities, such as lifts and ramps, to safely accommodate all types of mobility devices.
- Student Transportation / School Bus: Offering dedicated services for educational institutions, including transportation for students with special needs and regular School Buses.
- Group Transportation: Providing scheduled transit for larger parties, often for organizational needs, day programs, or contract-based commuting.
- Local Transit and Local Transportation: Supplying vehicles and drivers for general local travel needs, including "last mile-first mile" shuttle services connecting to regional Metro stations.
- Shuttle Transportation: Operating scheduled shuttle routes for corporate, residential, or public entity clients.
- Comprehensive Training and Driver Training: Investing in specific training programs for drivers to ensure Safe Transportation practices and respectful engagement with riders, particularly those with disabilities.
The unique nature of Diamond Transportation Service's mission provides specific highlights relevant to the Northern Virginia community:
- Decades of Local Expertise: With an operational history dating back to 1980 in the Washington Metropolitan area, the company possesses deep, established experience in managing complex local paratransit and specialized school transportation logistics.
- Contracted Government Service: Their role as a contractor for local Department of Transportation (DOT) paratransit programs underscores a commitment to public service and adherence to strict regulatory standards for vehicle safety and service coverage.
- Commitment to Specialized Needs: The entire business model is built around serving the elderly and disabled communities, making Wheelchair Accessible Services a core competency and not just an add-on feature.
- Proactive Driver Training: Services include specific Comprehensive Training and Driver Training modules, which are essential for properly and respectfully assisting riders with various mobility and cognitive disabilities, emphasizing Safe Transportation protocols.
- Broad Service Area: From their Springfield, VA hub, the service area extends across key Northern Virginia counties and cities, including connection points into Washington, D.C., providing crucial connectivity for riders who rely on them for medical and social access.
- Operational Scale: As a subsidiary of National Express Transit, a major national provider, they benefit from significant corporate resources, which should ideally translate into reliable, well-maintained fleets and professional operational management.
For scheduling, inquiries about eligibility for paratransit services, or other information regarding their specialized transportation:
- Address: 7307-C, B, Highland St, Springfield, VA 22150, USA
- Local Phone Number: (703) 339-9625
- Mobile Phone Contact: +1 703-339-9625
It is highly recommended that riders needing specialized Paratransit Service or Wheelchair Accessible Services utilize the phone contacts to ensure clear communication of their specific needs, pick-up times, and drop-off instructions. Due to the nature of the service, all trips are typically pre-scheduled, and direct contact with dispatch is often the most critical point of interaction.
Diamond Transportation Service is worth choosing for Northern Virginia users who require reliable, specialized, and accessible transportation—it is a vital service provider rather than a typical rental option. The main reason to choose this company is their established and comprehensive focus on Handicapped transportation service and Paratransit Service. They fill a crucial gap in local transit by offering certified, scheduled transport for individuals whose disabilities prevent the use of standard public routes, connecting them to life-sustaining and essential services.
Their commitment to comprehensive driver and safety training, alongside a fleet designed for Wheelchair Accessible Services, ensures a level of specialized care and accommodation that cannot be matched by standard taxi or rideshare services. For parents and guardians, the inclusion of dedicated School Bus and Student Transportation services provides a trusted, experienced option for getting children to school safely.
However, while the service is indispensable, potential users should be aware that customer feedback indicates areas for improvement in dispatcher and driver professionalism, particularly concerning non-confrontational communication and trip scheduling accuracy. Therefore, users who choose Diamond Transportation should prioritize clear, patient communication when booking, confirming the details of their trip, and maintaining records of communication. Choosing this service is a decision to prioritize necessary accessibility and specialized care, backed by decades of regional experience and a commitment to serving the Northern Virginia community’s most vulnerable populations.

Diamond Transportation Service Reviews
At a stoplight I watched a driver (586) open his door and throw trash on the ground, change lanes twice without using a blinker, and block a turn lane bc it wasn’t the turn they needed…all in less than a quarter mile.
September 08 · Victoria MaldonadoDOT Transportation Fleet: Their dispatchers and some drivers have the worst attitudes. They lack the ability to treat their riders with dignity and respect. They lack the ability to engage in a non. Confrontational manner. They talk to riders in a condescending manner. They don't take accountability for their actions. The company is constantly understaffed due to their low salary. Employees definitely act their wage. They need to allocate resources to train their employees to engage with riders with disabilities. Alvin Moore is rude, will talk over me and refuse to provide vehicle information or ETA. Talks to me in a condescending manner and will constantly hang up mid conversation. It's like dealing with a class of 1st graders who constantly have tantrums. Management has no interest in correcting their customer service they are just there to attempt to do their job. Only there for their paycheck.Update 7/10/24I have been stranded every evening trip 12:30 am because the staff habitually and carelessly schedules my trips wrong with UZURV . They are irresponsible and lack integrity or professionalism to fulfill their contract with DOT.
July 10 · Jazmin MartinezThey never show up for any of the orders placed through logisticare. They have been doing this to me since the fall of last year. They automatically accept orders and then they never tell anyone that they refused the order after the pick up time had already elapsed. They also use the same technique whenever the trip involved is greater than a certain number of miles so they only want very short trips.
June 23 · cormack ThomsonI always have had good service but, I have not been able to get metro access to take me to church on Sundays. It has been rezoned?
