Whether you're flying into the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) for a business trip, a family vacation to explore the Triangle area, or to enjoy the mountains or the coast, reliable transportation is key to a successful journey. Budget Car Rental, located right at the RDU airport, is positioned to serve your car and van rental needs as soon as you step off the plane, aiming to provide a seamless start to your time in the Tar Heel State.
This agency specializes in both general car rentals and van rentals, offering a diverse fleet intended to accommodate solo travelers, families, and larger groups. Known for striving to offer competitive rates and a range of vehicles, Budget at RDU provides options from economy cars perfect for city driving to larger SUVs and vans necessary for group outings or transporting extra luggage. Their on-site presence at the airport facility means that for many travelers, the transition from plane to car is designed to be as quick and efficient as possible.
As a significant hub for travelers in the Triangle region, Budget Car Rental at RDU is situated to offer convenience for both arriving and departing customers. The location serves as an excellent starting point for exploring nearby Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and beyond.
Location and Accessibility for North Carolina Travelers
The Budget Car Rental counter is located at the consolidated rental car facility, easily accessible from all terminals at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU). Customers flying in will typically take a designated shuttle bus from the terminal's baggage claim area directly to the rental car center where the Budget counter and vehicle lot are situated. This streamlined process minimizes the need to navigate the surrounding Morrisville roads until you are ready to drive to your final destination.
The physical address is:
- 1000 Rental Car Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560, USA

Budget Car Rental at RDU strives to offer a comprehensive list of services to meet various traveler needs:

- Toll Payment Solutions (e-Toll): Services to handle electronic toll charges incurred during your rental period, which can be particularly useful when traveling across different states or areas with electronic toll roads.

What Is Worth Choosing Budget Car Rental at RDU
Choosing Budget Car Rental at RDU airport offers several distinct advantages for visitors and residents of North Carolina. Its primary value proposition is convenience; as an on-site, corporate-operated agency at the main RDU facility, it is one of the most accessible options for travelers arriving by air. For customers who plan ahead and utilize programs like Fastbreak, the potential for a quick, efficient check-in and return process is a major benefit, allowing you to bypass potentially long lines and get on the road to Raleigh, Durham, or your intended coastal or mountain retreat faster.
The agency's commitment to accommodating various travel needs through its large and diverse fleet is also noteworthy. Whether you need an economy car for a weekend trip, a heavy-duty pickup truck, a spacious SUV for a family adventure to the Outer Banks, or a 15-passenger van for a college sports team, the wide selection aims to ensure you find a vehicle that fits your specific capacity and budget. Furthermore, for those who qualify, the Active military discounts represent a tangible saving, demonstrating the company’s appreciation for service members.
However, potential renters should be aware that, like any high-volume airport operation, service quality and vehicle condition can sometimes be inconsistent, as reflected in various customer feedback concerning wait times, unexpected fees, and vehicle maintenance issues. Customers are strongly advised to meticulously inspect their reserved vehicle upon pickup—taking photos of any existing damage (scratches, dents, tire condition, and interior cleanliness)—and to clearly understand all associated fees and deposit policies (including concession fees, facility charges, vehicle license fees, and surcharges) before signing the rental agreement. Understanding the fuel options and the associated charges for not replacing the gas is also crucial to avoid unexpected costs.
In summary, for reliable airport-based access, a large variety of car and van options, and the benefit of a streamlined process through the Fastbreak program, Budget Car Rental at RDU remains a prominent and convenient option for beginning your North Carolina travels, provided renters proceed with careful diligence regarding vehicle condition and contractual terms. Planning your pickup during non-peak hours (avoiding 6 AM-9 AM and 3 PM-6 PM, especially around holidays) may also lead to a smoother overall experience.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This place is awful! When I got there I waited 45 minutes in line. Once I got to the counter the guy who was checking me in , who I could barely understand, offered to upgrade my car. I agreed. Got to the car and took pictures of every panel because there was a dent and a scratch and missing paint on every panel of the car. This was not an upgrade this was a downgrade. I just received my receipt and they have managed to charge me $212 of my $250 deposit. They included a concession fee, a daily facility charge, a vehicle license fee and then charged me an 8% tax and another 6.5% surcharge. The only thing I should have been charged is for the gas that I did not replace. I was short a half tank and due to me running late and worried about kissing my flight I choose to not refill the gas. My advise if you are the name Budget, run!! I attached a picture of the hole on the bumper of my “upgraded” vehicle for you enjoyment.
July 07 · Lindsay MontgomeryLONG REVIEW:0/5 – Never AgainOn August 1st, we rented a car from Budget at the airport in NC, and this was hands down the worst rental experience I’ve ever had.We landed at 7 PM, took the shuttle straight there, and by the time we got to the lot it was pitch black. They gave us a Chevy Malibu that looked fine on the outside, but looks can be deceiving. Once inside, it was a disaster: the inside of the windshield was so filthy it was like someone rubbed it with greasy hands, making it hard to see at night. The windshield wipers? Completely torn, with the rubber part missing. We figured that was the worst of it and decided to drive the hour to our destination—BIG mistake. On the way, the tire pressure sensor came on. This was a newer car with only 30k miles, so why were the tires low? Then, the CHECK ENGINE light came on. I checked the oil—it was at 10%! Why are you renting out cars that clearly need an oil change? We decided to deal with it when we returned the car, but on the day we were headed back to the airport, the POWER STEERING went out. Completely unsafe to drive. We called emergency roadside assistance, and they gave us the runaround, telling us if we left the car at the hotel and the keys with the hotel manager, we’d be liable for any damage or theft. How about not giving customers unsafe cars to begin with?Eventually, they came to get the car, but then we had to figure out how to get a ride an hour back to the airport—this was an hour before our flight was scheduled to leave. And the icing on the cake? My grandma was charged an extra $123, with Budget claiming we didn’t return the car. They literally sent someone to pick it up!Budget, you owe her EVERYTHING—the rental cost, the extra $123, AND compensation for the stress and inconvenience. Renting unsafe vehicles, providing terrible customer service, and overcharging people is unacceptable. I will never rent from Budget again and will warn everyone I know to do the same.
August 13 · Sheree BergerIt is very clear that this place has a “over worked and understaffed” attitude and in turn has caused not only myself but several others based on the reviews, a terrible experience! I really wish I read the reviews prior to booking my reservation because they did not lie. After traveling for most of the entire day, I spent over 2 and half hours on a line that went out the door. There were only two agents working the shift (on Labour day weekend) to accommodate the countless people who were waiting for their rentals. Some who had “preference” or “fast break” were still not even properly accommodated because they were told if they were first time customers they still needed to wait in the slow moving line. When I got to the counter I was told that I needed to have a physical card to make payment. Though this was a bit disappointing given the fact that I only had one physical debit card on my person (due to having not received my new card in the mail as yet) I managed to get the funds on the card and when I attempted to pay they did not accept my card!!! They would not manually input the numbers from another card or even allow me to have a family member try to pay with an over the phone payment! The agent that I originally dealt with Charlie (who is the only reason I am rating one star because they really deserve NONE) was being kind and patient with me even when I lost my temper due to my frustration. The so called manager Jordan (who lied and said his name was Jermaine when asked for reference) was rude, dismissive and condescending! When I explained to him that I had been traveling with my young child and needed to make a 2hr drive from the airport. He was un accommodating to say the least and left me and my child in the facility alone at 3 o clock in the morning. This car rental location should be investigated and held accountable for the mistreatment of customers and the consistent inconveniences they cause to the public.
May 23 · Jelaini BromfieldRDU location. Fastbreak car looked like it was in a shoot out and had "X" marked all over it. 2nd car-gas cover was gone and looked like inoperable to put gas in. 3rd car-was drivable, but old. DO NOT GO TO THIS BUDGET!!
July 31 · sheila hallAlright... Used budget twice at RDU and have cancelled my third reservation. Counter staff was just there to do their job, was rude the first time, not necessarily rude the second but also not kind. Be prepared to pay about 2x what your original booking price was - all kinds of fees add up fast here. The car was fine, no complaints there. The check in took a while... but not crazy. I just think there's a lot better experiences to have renting a car
