They are dirty and their attire is not what to expect from Hertz. My experience was so bad, that I will never never again rent a car from Hertz, and I don't care if not every locations are the same.Thank to a wonderful agent from Enterprise Rent a car name Nick in Centereach, not too far from this disgusting Hertz, I was able to rent a nice car with no issues at all. The difference was night and day in regards to customer service and cleanliness.Hertz response to every reviews is always the same and nothing change. They're sorry and they thank you for the review, and they strive to be better.
June 08 · ClaudeThis was the worst ever. We needed a minivan specifically to go pick our family up in NYC and spend the day. When we arrived they didn’t have a minivan or anything with three rows. If I could give zero stars I would. They were rude and said they could get one but we would have to wait awhile. They didn’t know how long. We already wasted a 20 min drive each way.HORRIBLE!!!!!’ Not a good way to start our vacation week with family. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
July 23 · Kathy Richmond-SchultzNasty People. My son rented a car from them last week for what was supposed to be two days. Unfortunately, on the second day he was in a horrific car accident. Air bags were deployed and the car was badly damaged. He called Hertz at the scene because the car was no longer driveable. Luckily, he did take the insurance when he rented the car. But I am guessing that it took four days for them to get back what was left of the car. Now they want to charge him for an additional four days because "they were unable to rent the car to anybody else. How was he supposed to get the car to him. It was no longer driveable. Not to mention, if it is repairable at all, I am sure that it was not repaired yet, He reached out to this office and the people there were very nasty to him and offered no assistance.
June 04 · Louis RosatiI Ubered to the business for a rental car reservation I made days in advance and prepaid for only to arrive and be told they DON'T HAVE A CAR AVAILABLE, not only for me, but also for two other parties that had reservations. That's extremely unacceptable and the worst customer service. I cried outside before walking to take the bus home. People are relying on getting these rental cars. People aren't making reservations for a rental car unless they actually need one, so to have NONE is unfathomable. I find it incredibly hard to believe in this day and age that there's no way to monitor inventory to make sure people with reservations can actually get a car. On top of that, I was told it will take 7-10 days for my refund to hit my credit card, so you don't even get your money back in a timely manner. I'm astounded at what a bad business this is. Additionally, I started calling the business a half hour before my reservation time, and no one bothered to pick up. I redialed numerously and it just kept ringing. That's horrible. If they could be bothered to pick up a phone, I could've avoided spending more money only to be told they don't have a car. What a crazy idea, a rental car company having cars to rent, someone should remind them of that.My recommendation is to use Enterprise or other rental car companies. I used Hertz because it was the cheapest and now I see why, because they don't know what they're doing and have no integrity. Go elsewhere to ensure you actually get a car. Reservations mean nothing to this company and location.
April 19 · Amanda CurcioDO NOT RENT FROM HERE, GO TO SMITHTOWN, IT IS NOT WORTH IT.My experience with centereach has been anything but pleasant every time ive been there. The owner of the establishment is extremely rude and entitled. He barks answers to customers whenever they ask questions and has no compassion when he speaks. (The owner is a older man, older than the rest of his pleasant workers.)I am a university student and have to be renting every now and then in order to move my things to and from the city. Honestly the experience i have received from centereach has been some of the worst customer service i have ever received from a place that is only supposed to receive and hand out rentals.To go further into my situation with this location. I had rented midsize SUV from the smithtown location, within an hour i had a flat tire so i called back and they told me to go to centereach as they would be able to assist me. Knowing I've had bad experiences with this place before i was hesitant but the smithtown location told me it would be an in and out service to repair the tire. I reached the centereach location and they take in my car to get it serviced. 15 minutes later i come back to ask for the condition and they tell me the car should have not been rented at all due to 2 tires being damaged and a ripped seat. I kindly accepted and asked what car can they give me, the owner/older man BARKS at me EXACTLY THE FOLLOWING “We have a buick there and if you dont like it you can take it to andrew”. (Mind you i did not respond to him badly nor did i speak to him in a way that warranted this type of response, this sounds like a direct response but the attitude he gave it to me was extremely condescending and as if he was pissed off at me for even bringing the car i brought to be serviced.)In my rush to honestly get out of this establishment as fast as possible due to the lack of mutual respect and demeanor, i see the Buick and realize that it is much smaller than i anticipated and it would not be able to fit all the items i had in order to move. I walk back inside and ask what i can do because this car wouldn't be able to fit the things i need. He proceeds to bark at me again telling me that “its what they have and if i want i can cancel the service and get a refund and take my business elsewhere, or i can take it to andrew and see what he has” (All i literally asked for was what my options were due to the car not being the same size as the other one and not being big enough for me to move out). BTW (WHO IS ANDREW?????)I decided to leave the location with the car i had but not before going back into the establishment and calling out the owner asking him what is up with his attitude. Not only did he provide me with the bare minimum customer service (literally just giving me another car) but also barked answers at me as if i were a dog for asking bare minimum questions. At no point did i rush this man or even warrant a type of response from a human and even less from a business owner who is supposed to show the upmost respect to their customers. While calling him out, he even goes as far as telling me that “Your just cranky you got a smaller car” and i proceed to tell him in the calmest tone, “im not mad about the car, i can go to another hertz location and get the car replaced, the issue right now is your customer service, 1st off, i have no idea who andrew is and your telling me to go to him when i have no clue or idea who it is, second of all, your basically threatening me to get out of the location with this (take it or leave it) mentality when im just asking for options on what i can do.”His response after this was just telling me andrew is some guy at the smithtown location and as for everything i did not get a reponse on, he answered my question and proceeded to leave the counter saying “i dont know, i dont know”In conclusion, this location is EXTREMELY rude to customers without reason. The employees are fine and help you, but the owner is extremely rude for no reason. *Go to the smithtown location, they are 10 minutes way.*
