National Car Rental Introduce
For frequent business travelers and savvy leisure renters across the Buckeye State, particularly those using Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), National Car Rental is consistently recognized as a top-tier provider for speed, choice, and convenience. This key Ohio location, situated right at the consolidated rental car facility, specializes in offering a streamlined, professional experience that is highly valued by its customers. The agency's commitment to the local community is also noteworthy, as this branch proudly identifies as a women-owned business, contributing to the diversity of Cleveland's commercial landscape.
The core appeal of National Car Rental for Ohio users often lies in its sophisticated rental program, the Emerald Club. This program is specifically designed to eliminate the counter check-in process, allowing members to bypass lines and go directly to the lot. The ability to select any vehicle from the designated “Emerald Aisle” or “Executive Aisle” and simply drive away is a major time-saver for busy professionals flying in and out of Cleveland. As one satisfied customer noted, "I love the app and rental program as it allows me to skip lines, pick any vehicle and check out," highlighting the smooth, efficient operation. The fleet itself is regularly maintained and updated, with customers frequently mentioning the high quality of the cars they receive, making for a comfortable and reliable driving experience across Northeast Ohio.
However, while the speed and quality are praised, frequent renters who have achieved higher tiers in the Emerald Club, such as Executive Status, sometimes find that the inventory on the dedicated Executive Aisle does not always live up to their heightened expectations. For example, a customer expressed disappointment after finding an empty Executive Aisle and having to settle for a mid-size vehicle, despite their high status. This logistical challenge is common in the high-volume, dynamic environment of an airport location, where fleet inventory can fluctuate rapidly based on returns and reservations. Nonetheless, the overall commitment to customer service and high vehicle standards remains a primary reason why many Ohio renters consider National their "go to rental provider."
Location and Accessibility
The National Car Rental branch is strategically located on the premises of the consolidated rental car facility that serves Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE). This positioning is optimal for both arriving and departing Ohio air travelers and local customers in the surrounding Cleveland area seeking airport-level convenience.
The official address is:
19601 Maplewood Ave, Cleveland, OH 44135, USA
This address places the agency directly within the airport’s dedicated car rental hub, which is typically accessed via a complimentary shuttle bus service that runs continuously from the main terminal. The location facilitates a smooth transition from plane to car, which is a major advantage for business travel.
Accessibility is a key priority at this facility, ensuring a welcoming experience for all customers in the Ohio region:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance is provided for ease of access into the main facility and service areas.
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot ensures convenient and designated parking options for customers with mobility needs.
As an airport-affiliated service, the location maintains extensive operating hours, generally running from the early morning through to late evening, seven days a week, often with options for after-hours returns. This ensures that rentals can be picked up and dropped off to align with nearly any flight schedule or travel itinerary across the state of Ohio.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Second National Car Rental that I’ve been and had an empty Executive aisle. I question why I even bother with the status. Emerald had vehicles and took a mid-size. Vehicles are well maintained and very new. Never had an issue with the cars and highly recommend over other car rental agencies. But if you earned a higher status and expect to get nicer vehicles after all the business you’ve given them, good luck. I have yet to drive anything more than a $30K vehicle since moving up a status.
October 13 · MattNational Car Rental is my go to rental provider. I love the app and rental program as it allows me to skip lines, pick any vehicle and check out. The personnel are always polite and helpful. The vehicles are updated and many different manufactures to pick from.
October 13 · Robby HaganDespite their policy stating that they'll stay open 2 hours past closing if you have your flight information, it doesn't seem that this location adheres to that standard. We arrived late due to our flight being delayed to no one being available to help us check out, and no car on the lot that we could use. Neither entering your flight information or having executive elite status seems to matter.
September 10 · Andrew TanasescuAs an Executive Elite member with National I rent all the time with them, by far this is the worst location I’ve ever dealt with. Both times I have had to deal with them was due to renting a vehicle at the Pittsburgh location (A lot better customer service in Pittsburgh) driving to Cleveland for work and both times the vehicle I had there was a mechanical issue with. Both times I have received a swap out, both of those vehicles including today they were out of fluids, last month I had a Range Rover that was out of coolant and the second time today I had a Jeep Grand Wagoneer that needed a couple of quarts of oil. When I arrived at the location last night I spoke with Brandon the manager he said “the only other choice I had was the Jeep” “There was no other vehicle call I could take. I can only take the jeep”. I told him I needed something smaller, better fuel efficient and he said the only option I had was a jeep. With that jeep, it had close to 70,000 miles on it and he said “it was being sold also”. It definitely was low on oil and that the check engine light and the oil change light would not turn off on the dash when driving it around today.Driving to the location today to swap out as frustrated as I was, I asked to speak to a manager, and I got the branch manager, Bonnie. Not friendly or helpful at all, and I’ve been to every location across the country it feels like. It seems like this was by far the worst manager I’ve ever dealt with when it comes to a situation that I was dealing with. I let her know my frustration with my last couple times I’ve been at this location. She did not care. She said “they only had a Nissan rogue”. It was at 3 o’clock in the afternoon by the way on a Wednesday and I had no other choice because “it was a safe and reliable vehicle and I did not pick up and drop off at this location so she did not care” and by her attitude I could definitely tell. It was extremely frustrating when asking about vehicles that I’ve worked for me in the past with my phone connecting, and with all the struggle that I went through with returning this vehicle that should’ve worked in the first place she was not giving me any other options besides vehicles that were 2 to 3 years old 60,000 to 70,000 miles on them that is not fair or right for somebody who rents with national all the time. I asked for a Chevy Equinox or GMC Terrain, she said “no”. Being that I did not pick up the vehicle and return the vehicle to Cleveland, I can see why she did not care about making sure I was taken care of. I really would like the district manager or area manager to get a hold of me so I can go ahead and give more of my story since there is more to this. I hope they find somebody who is more customer service, friendly to run this location since other reviews that I’ve seen recently kind of share the same sentiment.Brandon was not friendly either, He did not give me any other options either after my swap yesterday due to a brand new 2026 Dodge Durango after the touchscreen would not turn on, so I had no way to control the AC and I took video and pictures of this to prove my point.I really hope that upper management takes a look at this branch and changes are made. Just because you rent at a different location doesn’t mean you’re not obligated to take care of a customer since National is the SAME company no matter what location you rent from. If I ever fly into Cleveland, I will not deal with National car rental even though I am executive elite. Please take a look at Bonnie and Brandon upper management. They should not be in the position they’re in. Also, if you read all this do yourself a favor and do not rent for national car rental from Cleveland, you will thank me later.
September 17 · Kevin HartThe folks at National were great to work with. The first car we got had an a/c issue. We came back and they gave us another one getting us back on the road in just a few minutes. Definitely recommend.
