Car was clean, but had to wash some sticky surfaces. It's a mazda cx90, was given as a similar/replacement to Jeep grand cherokee L. Tires were in a dangerous shape(you don't see it at dark pickup location. 10 days of rental. Very uncomfortable drivers seat. Every day randomly couldn't start it(key is not detected), but remote opens a car from 40ft). AC couldn't create comfortable temperature when outside 95F. Steering wheel is sticking and releasing quickly on a long sharp turns. One time multifunctioned, like dead completely. No remote start. Only good is that it can cruise well. Missing AC air diffuser on 3rd raw seat. Extra Charged fuel.

I've been in line about a half hour, I'm about halfway there. My flight itself was only an hour. I get that they're busy, but they dont seem to get that. When I first got in line they had 4 or 5 clerks. They've since cut back to 2. Why do you have 10 checkout counters if not for now? If my car wasn't already reserved I would have ditched this long ago.

Unfortunately, our experience with this car rental company was exactly as bad as others had warned.The car we were given was absolutely disgusting. Crumbs, trash, and even clothing from the previous renter were still inside. We spent over an hour vacuuming and wiping everything down, and honestly, I still feel gross just thinking about it.As if that weren’t enough, the car was overdue for an oil change, and instead of handling that themselves, they asked us to take it in. Seriously?I suppose this is how they undercut the competition, by skipping basic maintenance and cleanliness. Lesson learned. Next time, I’ll happily pay a little more for a company that respects its customers and takes care of its vehicles.Avoid if you value your time, health, or peace of mind.
July 31 · Jeni HollanderFlew into MSP, had no reservation, with 5+ adults and kids. The others wanted way too much or had nothing. Never heard of Payless, went to the desk. Nour was very helpful, even when I had to reassure the card company no one had hacked anything. He got us the vehicle, a '24 or '25 Hyundai Santa Fe. It was fresh off the lot. Even when we had to extend our trip by a day. I had a painless rental, the experience was stress free, and I will move them to the top of the list. And I thought Payless was an old shoe store.Many stars to them and their support staff.
July 21 · Marvie FishTerrible service start to finish. Tried to extend my rental (was here for family emergency) and they wanted to 1) charge me a change fee and 2) charge me 2x my weekly rate for another week. Ummm... No thank you. I went online and could get another week for the same rate and they wanted me to pay a change fee and pay 2x more and have the hassle of returning the car and picking up a new one? Yeah, no. I returned the car and rented from a different company. Will never use Payless again.To make matters worse, I got an all electric car and no one told me about where to charge it and what level it needed to be at when returned and the contract was very confusing. Good luck trying to find any working, let alone, FAST charging station in Minneapolis. The charging station listed on the EVs dashboard map we're accurate. A Google search showed different options but was equally confusing and inaccurate. Won't rent an EV in the Twin Cities again until their charging infrastructure is better. It's too bad because the car was good.
