Rent-A-Wreck Introduce
For residents in the Marietta and greater Cobb County region of Georgia, finding an affordable and accessible rental car is often a top priority, especially for temporary needs like car repairs, supplemental travel for a large family, or cost-conscious trips. Rent-A-Wreck is a name known in the industry for specializing in a niche market: providing value-focused car rentals, often using older or previously-owned vehicles rather than a brand-new fleet. This model is designed to translate into lower daily rental rates for the consumer.
The Marietta branch of this national car rental agency, located conveniently on Canton Road, serves local Georgians looking for budget alternatives to major national brands. The company's unique approach is summarized in its name, which generally signifies that customers should expect older models that may have a bit of 'character'—such as cosmetic blemishes—which allows them to offer a competitive price point. However, prospective renters in Georgia must carefully balance the lure of a lower initial rate against the experiences of previous local customers.
As with any company that operates on a high-volume, low-cost model, customer experiences can vary widely. Recent feedback from customers specifically mentions significant concerns regarding hidden charges, managerial customer service quality, and the condition of the vehicles provided. One reviewer recounted a negative experience, stating they received a vehicle with unreported prior damage and faced a substantial charge afterward, describing the overall experience as a "scam" and urging potential renters to "avoid this place like the plague." The same customer noted that while the person providing the car was friendly, the office interactions were challenging. A separate, equally critical review highlighted the poor customer service at the managerial level, specifically naming the manager, and strongly advised taking funds to a competitor like Enterprise for better service and professional conduct. These local experiences are crucial for other Georgia users to consider when evaluating their transportation options.
The Rent-A-Wreck location in Marietta is situated at a key, accessible point for locals in North Georgia.
The official contact address for the branch is:
4725 Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30066, USA.
Canton Road is a major artery in the area, offering drivers a direct route between Marietta's core areas and communities further north. This location in the 30066 ZIP code means it is well-placed to serve residents of East Cobb and those traveling from cities like Woodstock and Kennesaw. For those arriving at the location by vehicle, the premises are designed with some attention to physical accessibility, a basic yet important feature for local renters:
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot: This amenity ensures that customers requiring mobility assistance, or those being dropped off by a helpful family member or caregiver, can safely and conveniently access the facility's entrance.
While specific transit options would need separate verification, the main road location generally ensures reasonable access via local road networks for pickup and drop-off, which is the primary way most renters access car agencies in the suburbs of Atlanta.
Rent-A-Wreck's service model is straightforward, focusing on providing essential vehicle rental options at competitive rates by utilizing an inventory of pre-owned cars.
- Economy and Value Car Rental: Their main offering includes smaller, mid-size, and full-size vehicles, typically older models, aimed at providing the most cost-effective travel solution possible for local use.
- Variety of Vehicle Classes: The fleet generally includes a range of vehicles to meet different needs, such as small cars for efficient commuting, mid-size sedans, and sometimes SUVs or vans, although availability may vary greatly by location and time.
- Acceptance of Credit Cards: The company facilitates easy payment processing by accepting major Credit cards, which is a standard convenience for most renters.
- Local Rental Focus: As an independent location, rental policies often place restrictions on mileage or travel boundaries compared to national airport-based agencies. Customers are advised to confirm the local policy on mileage caps and out-of-state travel to ensure the vehicle suits their intended trip across Georgia or beyond.
- Insurance and Coverage Options: As is common with rental agencies, the company offers various insurance and damage waiver options. Given the nature of their fleet, securing the right coverage, which may include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), is a critical step that renters must discuss thoroughly at the counter.
When considering Rent-A-Wreck in Marietta, the primary features are intrinsically linked to its value proposition, but these must be viewed through the lens of local customer feedback.
- Budget-Friendly Pricing: The most compelling feature is the attempt to offer lower daily rental rates than many competitors, appealing directly to cost-conscious Georgia drivers. The model is built on providing cars that are older, which minimizes the overhead costs of operating a rental fleet.
- Accessibility for Local Transactions: The existence of Wheelchair accessible parking lot is a positive structural feature, indicating compliance and consideration for customers with mobility limitations.
- Accepts Credit Cards: A practical highlight is the acceptance of Credit cards, simplifying the financial transaction for most customers.
- Caution on Vehicle Condition: A key feature of the "Rent-A-Wreck" model is the acceptance of vehicles with cosmetic damage. However, local reviews warn that this can lead to disputes, with one customer claiming they were charged $1500 for a scratch not noted at pickup. Renters must meticulously document all pre-existing damage.
- Caution on Customer Service: Multiple local reviews highlight a significant downside in the management's customer service. The reported issues with long hold times and unprofessional managerial conduct are a vital warning sign for Georgia residents who value seamless and respectful interactions.
Since the primary customer service issues mentioned are often with the local branch staff, finding the direct contact for the Marietta location is essential for managing a reservation or issue.
Address: 4725 Canton Rd, Marietta, GA 30066, USA
Phone: While a local number for the Marietta branch is essential, general customer service or reservation inquiries can typically be directed through the corporate or national line. Customers should search locally or on their confirmation for a direct phone number to the 4725 Canton Rd branch.
For a local user in Georgia, Rent-A-Wreck in Marietta is only worth choosing under very specific circumstances, given the strong cautionary feedback from the community. The most compelling reason to select this agency is the pursuit of the absolute lowest possible base rate.
If a renter has a budget that is extremely tight, requires a car for a short, local trip with minimal mileage, and has absolutely exhausted all other options from competitors, the low initial price may be an attractive entry point. This option is best suited for an individual who is prepared to undertake an extremely diligent and meticulous rental process.
However, the overwhelming evidence from local reviews suggests that for most Georgia renters, the risks may outweigh the savings. Potential renters must be prepared to:
- Spend considerable time documenting the vehicle's condition, including taking high-resolution photos and videos of all sides, the interior, the roof, and especially the windshield, before driving away. This is the only defense against disputes over alleged new damage, as highlighted by the $1500 charge claim.
- Be ready for a potentially difficult customer service experience, particularly with management, as reported by multiple local customers.
- Factor in the very real possibility that the total cost after mandatory fees, taxes, insurance (Collision Damage Waiver may be non-optional for some payment methods), and potential damage claims, may ultimately exceed the price of a rental from a competitor known for clearer pricing and superior service, such as Enterprise, as one reviewer suggested.
In conclusion, the only factor truly worth choosing Rent-A-Wreck for is a cheap initial price. For peace of mind, professional service, clear policies, and a smooth transaction, the local user community in Georgia suggests that caution and thorough preparation—or seeking a different provider—are advisable. This Marietta location may be a viable last resort for the most budget-restricted driver, but it demands an intense focus on contract details and vehicle inspection.

Rent-A-Wreck Reviews
Worst customer service. Been next caller in line for an hour smh. Don't be fooled if you call them. Moreover, they will give you a wrecked car. I got one with a scratch on windshield which was not noted during pickup and was charged $1500 for it. Totally a scam. The guy who was getting me the car was really nice but as soon as I got in the office, things went downhill afterwards. Wish I could give -5 stars not even 0.
June 16 · Jimmy DTerrible company, with terrible customer service at the managerial end and corporate end. Barbara the manager is as slimy as a car salesman. If I could give 0 stars I would. Avoid this place like the plague. It seems cheap but you'll end up spending more money than necessary, take your funds to enterprise. There will be better customer service and more qualified and trained professionals.
November 06 · lilac grahamI had to make complaints about receiving running toll tickets for dates in October when i rented a car in July. I made company aware of this issue only to receive another notice for another date so I'm wondering if they are giving out my information without regard.
