Dollar Car Rental - Greensboro International Airport-(GSO) Introduce
For travelers arriving at Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) and North Carolina residents in need of transportation, Dollar Car Rental - Greensboro International Airport-(GSO) provides an accessible and conveniently located Car rental agency solution. This particular location prides itself on its identity as a woman-owned business, contributing to the diverse economic landscape of the Greensboro area. Strategically situated at the airport, it aims to offer a smooth transition from your flight to the open roads of North Carolina.
Dollar is widely known for its commitment to budget-friendly travel, offering a variety of vehicle classes—from compact cars like the Chevrolet Spark to larger, more popular choices for the region, such as the Nissan Rogue SUV and various sedans. This selection is designed to meet the diverse needs of families, business travelers, and individuals exploring the Triad area. Furthermore, the agency extends special appreciation to service members and their families through generous Active military discounts, a significant benefit for the large military community within North Carolina.
However, potential customers, particularly those who rely on flexibility, must be fully aware of the policies and customer service standards, which can sometimes be a point of contention. As evidenced by multiple customer reviews, issues have arisen regarding the consistency of pricing and the application of the debit card policy. One customer reported being 'coerced' into paying more than double the reservation price due to claims of 'mandatory insurance,' an allegation of dishonest practice. Another, a loyal customer who relied on the once 'worry free, hassle free' debit card usage, was denied a rental after the local agent allegedly contradicted the current Dollar Express Rewards member policy, leading to significant frustration and lost business.
While the company aims to offer flexibility by accepting Credit cards, Debit cards, and NFC mobile payments, and provides exceptions for established Dollar Express Rewards members regarding certain debit card restrictions, the reviews emphasize a crucial need for prospective renters to confirm all pricing, insurance requirements, and debit card stipulations directly with the GSO location prior to arrival. Transparency in final cost and policy enforcement is paramount to avoiding what some customers have described as a "terrible" or "worst experience."
Dollar Car Rental is located directly at the Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO), offering maximum convenience for travelers landing in Greensboro, North Carolina. Its location within the airport complex ensures that customers can access their rental vehicle quickly after collecting their luggage, bypassing the need for off-site shuttles.
The address for the branch is: 6325 Joseph M Bryan Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27410, USA.
This location places customers immediately adjacent to major roadways, facilitating easy access to the metropolitan areas of Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point, as well as routes heading east toward Raleigh or west toward the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The agency is dedicated to serving all members of the North Carolina community and includes key accessibility features:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance: Ensuring a smooth and unhindered entry into the rental facility.
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot: Providing designated, easily accessible parking spaces near the entrance.
The operating hours for this high-traffic airport location are designed for air travel convenience, typically open seven days a week from 7:00 am to 11:59 pm (Monday through Saturday) and often similar hours on Sunday, accommodating most flight schedules.
As a full-service Car rental agency, the Dollar GSO airport branch offers a wide spectrum of vehicles and services tailored for diverse North Carolina travel needs.
- Vehicle Rental Categories: A comprehensive fleet that includes:
- Economy and Compact vehicles (ideal for city driving and fuel efficiency).
- Medium/Standard Sedans (such as Mazda3 and Chevrolet Malibu).
- SUVs (including popular models like the Nissan Rogue and Chevrolet Equinox for family trips).
- Vans and Pickup trucks (like the Chrysler Pacifica or RAM Pickup for utility and larger groups).
- Payment Flexibility: Accepts a range of payment methods to accommodate various financial preferences:
- Major Credit cards.
- Debit cards (acceptance is subject to a strict policy, including a credit check, proof of a return ticket for non-members, and an authorization hold, although some restrictions may be waived for established Dollar Express Rewards members).
- NFC mobile payments (for quick, contactless transactions).
- Official Discounts: Provides special rental rates and benefits for:
- Active military discounts (often through programs like Veterans Advantage, including potential fee waivers for additional or underage drivers).
- Association discounts (such as AAA, Union Plus, and others).
- One-Way Rentals: Availability of one-way rental options, allowing customers to pick up at GSO and drop off at a different location (subject to applicable intercity fees).
Dollar Car Rental at GSO features several unique selling points that make it an appealing, though potentially complicated, choice for North Carolina renters.
- Woman-Owned Business: Operating as an independently identified woman-owned entity, supporting local economic diversity and entrepreneurship.
- Significant Military Savings: Offers some of the most comprehensive Active military discounts in the industry, often including percentage-based savings and waivers for underage or additional driver fees, especially for official travel or VetRewards members.
- Debit Card Acceptability: Maintains a policy that, while stringent and subject to on-the-spot interpretation, does allow for the use of Debit cards to secure a rental (often requiring a credit check, a second form of ID, and proof of a return flight for non-Express members).
- High-Tech Payments: Supports modern, fast payment processing with the ability to accept NFC mobile payments.
- Direct Airport Access: Located on-site at GSO, ensuring a minimal wait time between landing and driving away.
Given the documented issues with policy interpretation and pricing, it is highly recommended that customers contact the Dollar GSO location directly to confirm all rental terms, especially those related to debit card usage and final insurance costs, before traveling.

Dollar Car Rental at the GSO airport is worth choosing primarily for North Carolina customers who fall into two categories: those seeking Active military discounts and those who must use a Debit card to secure their rental. For military members, the discounts and associated fee waivers can represent a substantial saving that is difficult to match elsewhere. For debit card users, Dollar’s policy—despite its reported inconsistency—is one of the few that offers a pathway to rental qualification, even if it requires extra steps like credit checks, booking 24 hours in advance, and potentially showing proof of a return flight.
Furthermore, the benefit of choosing a woman-owned business, coupled with the sheer convenience of a direct, on-site airport location, adds to its appeal. The wide availability of vehicle types, from economy cars to popular SUVs like the Nissan Rogue, ensures that most practical transportation needs for the Piedmont Triad region can be met at an affordable rate.
However, potential customers must proceed with caution and diligence. The recurring and strongly negative feedback regarding unexpected price hikes (mandatory insurance) and inconsistent enforcement of the debit card policy for loyal members is a major concern. To ensure a "hassle-free" experience, as the company promotes, North Carolina customers should view the online booking as a baseline and immediately call the GSO branch to confirm the exact total price, including all fees and insurance, and verify the specific documents and qualifications required for their chosen payment method. Those who meticulously verify their reservation are most likely to experience the convenience and value that Dollar Car Rental aims to provide.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Terrible experience with Dollar. We booked a car through Booking for $148.36, but when we arrived they refused to honor the price and forced us to pay $310.61 — more than double. They claimed it was for a “mandatory insurance,” even though every other rental I’ve done online has always included a basic insurance already. This felt like coercion: either pay much more or leave without a car. Very dishonest practice. Avoid this company.
September 22 · Alejandro EspinosaIf I could rate Dollar Car Rental at the Greensboro airport negative stars or zero stars, I would. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a car rental agency, potentially one the worst at a place of business period.I’ve been renting through Dollar for a few years now, mainly for their debit card policy. I was able to rent with my debit card for a few years, without any problem. Their website declares “worry free, hassle free” debit card usage. There were no restrictions. Just had a 24 hour requirement for booking.Recently, Dollar changed their policy to be a little more stringent, but if you were a Dollar Express Rewards Member, many of the restrictions were waived if you were using a debit card, only certain car classes could be rented, as well as the 24 hour requirements and such.Today, I wanted to rent a car. I intended on renting a mid size vehicle as the rules dictated, and I had rented before the 24 hour requirement, and had a debit and credit card in my profile. I talked with Amy I believe it was, and another coworker that I didn’t catch their name. I was told I could not rent with a debit card without having a return flight, which is in direct contradiction to their website policy stating that established Dollar Rewards members with a debit card in their profile were exempt from the other requirements. I met those requirements. I did not get a car today. I used my own vehicle.Dollar, you lost a customer for life today. I rented at least once a month for the last few months. If you updated your policy, you should update your website. If you didn’t update your policy, you need to educate your customer representatives on how to treat customers with respect and on your own policies. You failed miserably today, and lost a customer. There are other options to rent a car other than through the big rental agencies. I will be doing that from now on. Get in the 21st century, not everyone wants to go into debt to rent a vehicle, and you are not more of a “risk” to want to rent with a debit card. I always returned the car, always in better shape than when received. There were other customers who were complaining about the condition of their vehicle received while I was waiting too.I wouldn’t suggest Dollar to anyone. They dropped the ball, and they are liars when it comes to “hassle free” debit card rentals. Never again. Never again.
May 27 · Nathan McKinnonThis place is a scamThey claim to be hassle free but make it quite difficultI’ve rented from other car places and the tolls never require an admin feeDollar rental charges 15$ per toll you take, even if the toll was 1-5$ each. They refuse to fix anything about their service and the money scamming they do. They add several charges to your total with no explanation and you have no way of disputing it.Stay away from this companythey have lost several loyal customers this way
May 29 · Adolis JimenezRented a car from Dollar at the Houston airport. Took over two hours standing in line to get the car. That's not the complaint. It's the administrative fees for tolls. $6.25 worth of tolls and I'm being charged $66.25. There were no toll booths to pay and If they knew there were tolls I should have been able to get an ez pass. I have rented from Dollar many times and that trip alone was over $600. I will never rent from Dollar/Hertz/Thrifty ever again. They will get their $66.25 but I think they’re losing a lot more then that.
August 22 · Guy AmiratiThe 3 stars that reflects an overall rating is more than generous. I would give this business 0 stars. I made a rental and was unable to pickup my rental because they told me my license wasn't valid. This is the same license that was ran through TSA, the same license that has me registered as a driver in my state and now you're telling me that it's not valid? So then what would my next step me? The worker behind the counter made sure to do a great job at making me feel uncomfortable, she continuously whispered to the lady next to her and they both stared at me like I had the plague. Absolutely terrible service, andZERO profrssionalism.. I asked her if she could rerun my license or enter it manually and she just said no. I asked what about my reservation then? And she informed me that it was cancelled. Worst service ever. Hope by next year this company no longer exists.
