Dollar Car Rental - Pittsburgh International Airport Introduce
For residents of Western Pennsylvania and visitors flying into the Keystone State, the Dollar Car Rental at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) offers a convenient and accessible option for reliable vehicle hire. Situated directly at the airport, this location serves as a crucial gateway for travelers needing transport for business in downtown Pittsburgh, family trips to the Laurel Highlands, or visits to academic institutions throughout the region. The agency is part of the broader Dollar brand, known for providing competitive rates and a straightforward rental process, making it an appealing choice for the budget-conscious traveler in Pennsylvania.
A significant point of pride for this specific location is its identity as a women-owned business, which provides a unique local connection within a large, global company structure. Furthermore, the agency is committed to supporting those who serve, offering special benefits to active military personnel. While the brand is popular for its affordability, it is always wise for Pennsylvania customers to be diligent, as some customer reviews have pointed to concerning issues regarding vehicle maintenance (such as low oil or missing wipers) and challenging customer service, particularly concerning one-way rentals and unexpected charges. These experiences underscore the importance of thoroughly inspecting your rental car upon pickup and clarifying all policies, especially regarding cross-state travel and one-way drop-offs, to ensure a smooth journey through Pennsylvania and beyond.
The Dollar Car Rental office is strategically located at Pittsburgh International Airport, ensuring immediate access for arriving passengers without the need for off-site shuttles.
- Address: The exact location is 1000 Airport Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15231, USA. This places the counter and vehicles directly within the integrated PIT transportation hub, saving customers time upon arrival.
- Operating Hours: The airport location typically offers extensive operational hours to match flight schedules. The counter is open seven days a week, often from 7:00 AM to 11:59 PM, providing flexibility for early morning departures or late-night arrivals at Pittsburgh International.
- Physical Accessibility: The facility is designed to be fully inclusive for all Pennsylvania travelers. It features a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot, ensuring easy access to the rental counter and vehicle staging area for all customers.
- Pickup and Drop-off: The rental counter is typically located within the terminal building, allowing a seamless transition from the plane to your rental car. Clear signage guides customers to the Dollar service desk within the consolidated car rental area.
Dollar Car Rental at PIT provides a comprehensive selection of vehicles and financial flexibility to meet various Pennsylvania travel requirements.
- Diverse Fleet Selection: The available fleet caters to every type of trip, from compact and economy cars (like the Chevrolet Spark or Nissan Versa) ideal for navigating Pittsburgh's city streets, to intermediate and standard sedans (such as the Toyota Corolla or Chevrolet Malibu) for family trips, to SUVs (like the Nissan Rogue or Jeep Compass) and minivans (such as the Chrysler Pacifica) for larger groups or longer treks across the Commonwealth. Even specialty vehicles, including pickup trucks and luxury models, are often available.
- Onsite Services: All core rental services are handled efficiently onsite, including reservations, contract finalization, vehicle pickup, and drop-off processing.
- Flexible Payment Options: For customer convenience, the agency accepts major Credit Cards and Debit Cards. Additionally, for the tech-savvy Pennsylvania traveler, NFC Mobile Payments are accepted, streamlining the checkout process. Renters should note that a credit check and substantial deposit/hold (often up to $500 plus the rental cost) may apply when using a debit card, especially for non-local customers.
- One-Way Rentals: Dollar facilitates one-way rentals, allowing customers to pick up a vehicle in Pittsburgh and drop it off at another participating Dollar location, which is a valuable service for those on cross-state trips to cities like Philadelphia or even neighboring states. However, one-way fees and restrictions can apply, which must be confirmed at the time of booking.
- Optional Extras: For added convenience, customers can rent supplemental equipment, including various child seats (infant, child, and booster) for a daily fee, and request GPS devices for easier navigation through unfamiliar parts of Pennsylvania.
The distinct features of this Pittsburgh International Airport location enhance its appeal for local and visiting travelers alike.
- Identifies as Women-Owned: As a women-owned business, the location contributes to the local diversity of enterprises in the Pittsburgh area, offering a unique opportunity for customers who prefer to support diverse-owned businesses.
- Active Military Discounts: The agency proudly supports U.S. government and military personnel, offering special discounted rates and benefits. For those on official travel, this often includes free car-class upgrades, unlimited mileage, and fee waivers for additional or underage drivers. Those traveling for leisure, including Veterans Advantage members, can also benefit from preferential government leisure rates and additional discounts.
- Dollar Express Rewards Program: Frequent renters are encouraged to join the complimentary Dollar Express Rewards program. Membership benefits can include faster counter service—a huge perk at a busy hub like PIT—the ability to add a spouse or domestic partner as a free additional driver, and the opportunity to earn points toward free rental days.
- Low Age Requirement: The minimum age to rent a vehicle is 20 years old, with a young driver fee applying for those aged 20-24. This opens up rental options for younger drivers in the Pennsylvania area who may be traveling for school or early career commitments.
- Toll Payment Program: Dollar offers a PlatePass program, allowing Pennsylvania drivers to pay for tolls electronically without fumbling for cash, which is particularly useful when traveling on the Pennsylvania Turnpike or other tolled routes.

Dollar Car Rental at PIT is worth choosing for Pennsylvania users who prioritize airport convenience, competitive pricing, and specific loyalty benefits. Its position directly within the terminal makes for the fastest possible transition from airplane to automobile, which is invaluable after a long flight. The women-owned designation and the explicit active military discounts are valuable social and financial features that make this location stand out in the competitive airport rental market. The comprehensive fleet, which ranges from economy to full-size trucks, ensures a vehicle is available for any journey across the varied terrain of Pennsylvania.
However, potential customers must be aware of the customer feedback concerning vehicle condition and one-way rental complexities, which requires them to be vigilant. It is highly recommended that Pittsburgh customers join the free Dollar Express Rewards program to expedite their service and potentially bypass long counter queues. Furthermore, always check the vehicle thoroughly at pickup—confirming fluid levels, tire condition, and the functionality of basic safety equipment like windshield wipers—and keep all documentation, especially for one-way rentals, to prevent the kind of issues experienced by past renters. By taking these precautions and leveraging the benefits like the flexible payment options, including debit card acceptance and NFC, Dollar at PIT can serve as an affordable and convenient starting point for your Pennsylvania travels.

Rented the car to go out of town, had unlimited mileage but as you can see, My milage was limited since theres barely any oil. Had to leave the rental while i went out of town till Saturday( had rental from Sunday-Sunday)Customer service said go to the Airport to exchange it since I picked it up there, like it wasn't a problem! No apology! but it was a problem, its 45 minutes from my home and I was leaving to go out of town, i couldnt go there and waste 90 minutes back and forth, plus the probably 1 hour exchanging it!I WOULD NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN!Be aware! I should have ran when the customer in line in front of me was complaining about tires being bad in their rental!
September 21 · Kelly VWe arrived at 11:30 pm and Gentlemen working Saturday night September 13th at Pittsburgh airport Lied about not having a location in Columbus Ohio (there is one) and said we couldn’t drop it off there. Wanted to charge us 400 dollars for one day to drop off a car in Akron Ohio instead. Not sure why he lied about not having a location in Columbus. Also all the other car rentals were charging 80 a day, so definitely was trying to rip us off somehow
October 14 · Hemmanuel CruzIt's a mix. Good and badGreat check in...I ordered the managers special and they gave me a RAM huge 2500 truck. I didn't know what I got until I got to the truck.Ok...moving onCool truck ... but it took 10 minutes to figure out all the buttons. Also .. no washer fluidThe gas meter was showing full ...And stayed there for 90 miles. They also said at check in that the gas was 3/4 full . The broken meter said full. What?Check in... I had to wait and I still have no idea what they will charge me in total and... I have to wait up to a week for the receipt. This just feels to me like an untrustworthy transaction on their part. Here I am at the gas station filling it up. 31.00! Sdg
October 05 · Peter StewartMy husband and I had a horrible trip to Pittsburgh from Houston. When I got to the Dollar Car Rental, the agent was waiting for us. He was actually the best part of our entire trip. He was friendly, compassionate, understanding, and yet professional. The rental car was great. Everything worked, everything was clean, and the car drove well. He put a bright spot in our otherwise terrible day.
September 15 · Diana BruceI highly recommend DOLLAR CAR RENTAL.I have used U-Haul and Enterprise in the past, and they are good, BUT Dollar Car Rental far surpassed them in service, prices, and the QUALITY of the cars they rent.I was at the Pittsburgh Airport. I opted for the manager's special budget rental which turned out to be an electric car. I thought wow that was great. I would be able to check out an electric car. Yvonne (who was wonderful) pointed out that for the area I would be driving that was not a prudent choice. Recharging stations are far and few between. So she recommended an alternative that was PERFECT for me that had unlimited mileage. I was tickled pink with her suggestion. She was outstanding!I was very pleased with the price. The car was excellent for my needs and operated flawlessly. Not to mention unbelievably good on gas mileage.I will definitely be using Dollar Car Rental from now on.I'd like to thank Yvonne for her expertise and excellent service. You are very much appreciated, my dear .
