Avis Car Rental Introduce
The importance of a seamless travel experience cannot be overstated, especially when dealing with the logistics of flight arrivals and departures. Avis at PIT aims to provide this convenience, allowing you to transition quickly from the plane to the open road. The fleet typically includes everything from compact, fuel-efficient models for city driving to spacious SUVs and passenger vans designed for Pennsylvania’s diverse terrains and long-distance family trips. They accept various forms of payment and are proud to offer special discounts to certain groups, enhancing the value proposition for the local community.
The location’s design emphasizes accessibility for all customers, which is a key consideration for airport facilities. Essential accessibility features provided at this location include:
- Wheelchair accessible entrance
- Wheelchair accessible parking lot
- Car Rental Agency: A diverse range of late-model vehicles, including economy, compact, intermediate, full-size, premium, luxury cars, convertibles, and various SUV classes (e.g., standard, intermediate, premium).
- Van Rental Agency: Dedicated services for group transportation, featuring minivans and larger passenger vans (such as 12- and 15-passenger models), vital for teams or large family excursions across the state.
- Onsite Airport Services: Counter services are located directly on the airport property, facilitating a quicker transition from air travel to ground transportation.
- Payment Flexibility: Accepts a variety of payment methods for convenience, including major Credit Cards and Debit Cards. They also feature modern payment technology, accepting NFC mobile payments.
- Discounts and Special Rates: Notably provides Active Military discounts, which can offer significant savings on base rates (often up to 35% off Pay Now rates for eligible members of WeSalute+), a valuable benefit for the military community in Pennsylvania.
- Rental Policies: Offers convenient options such as one-way rentals, pet-friendly policies (subject to cleaning fees), and long-term/monthly rentals for extended stays in Pennsylvania.
- Optional Extras: Customers can enhance their rental experience with optional services like GPS navigation, child safety seats (infant, child, or booster seats), and Avis e-Toll for automated toll payment throughout the region.
- Direct Airport Access: The prime feature is its location at PIT, simplifying pickup and return logistics right within the terminal area, saving customers time and effort.
- Active Military Discount Program: A significant highlight is the availability of discounts for Active Military personnel, veterans, and their families, showcasing a commitment to those who serve.
- Avis Preferred Membership: Enrollment in the Avis Preferred loyalty program offers key advantages, such as skipping the rental counter line, express checkout, and the potential for complimentary car class upgrades when available.
- Digital Convenience: The Avis mobile app allows customers to manage their reservations, select their vehicle (where available), and receive real-time updates, offering a modern, controlled rental experience.
- Diverse Fleet for PA Roads: The vehicle lineup is extensive, designed to handle everything from Pittsburgh’s steep city streets to the major interstates connecting to Philadelphia and Harrisburg, with options including SUVs for all weather.
- Modern Payment Technology: The acceptance of NFC mobile payments adds a layer of speed and convenience to the checkout process.
- Address: 1000 Airport Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15231, USA (Pittsburgh International Airport - PIT)
- Phone: (412) 472-5200
- Mobile Phone: +1 412-472-5200
However, potential customers in Pennsylvania must weigh this convenience against the serious customer feedback provided in recent reviews. Reports of unexpected reservation cancellations due to alleged time manipulation, significant price disparities compared to competitors for similar vehicles, and claims of rude or abusive customer service are concerning. While these are not typical features advertised by the company, they suggest that operational issues may impact the customer experience at this specific branch.
Despite the reported inconsistencies in local service and pricing, the inherent benefits—such as valuable Active Military discounts, the streamlined process for Avis Preferred members, and the flexibility of one-way rentals across the region—make it a service worth considering. For a smoother experience, it is highly recommended to call the local number to confirm your reservation details, particularly the pick-up time and vehicle class, and to understand all final charges before departing the counter. By being proactive and leveraging the program benefits like the Avis App, many users can successfully navigate their car rental needs while taking advantage of the prime airport location in Western Pennsylvania.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1This car rental place should be avoided at all costs. The people at the counter lie and have zero integrity. I had reserved a Premium SUV for a short family trip to Pittsburgh. We arrived at 10:30 pm. Right when we landed, I got an email message saying that my car is no longer available as we did not arrive within the 2-hour pickup window. Our reservation was for 10 pm, not 8. Someone at the rental agency changed the pickup time for our reservation to 8 pm so that it automatically gets canceled if the car is not picked up by 10 pm. Pure evil! They only had vans at the airport and someone at the rental place did this trick to get around this problem. The lady at the counter must have known about this situation as she immediately clarified that there was nothing charged to me. She knew all along what had been done but pretended as if she had no idea how all this happened. If they would have just told me the truth, I would have been a bit irritated but would have understood. But this kind of lying and lack of integrity is not acceptable. I had to pay a huge premium to get a car from Hertz. Well, I know for sure I will not rent from Pittsburgh Avis again and will avoid them altogether in the future if I can. Hertz is so much better! Cleaner and newer cars. Before car pickup, I got an email from the local manager, Jeffrey Santa, asking for a 10/10 rating. I emailed him describing my terrible experience. I am yet to hear back from him and probably will never hear back. Total fraud rental agency. Please avoid!
October 05 · Alok KumarTotal scam! Abusive prices and unacceptable mistreatment. This lot is a complete scam. I had a reservation for a week, with an average cost of $1,300, and suddenly an employee tried to impose responsibilities on me as if I were the owner of the car. He treated me with such disrespect that I felt embarrassed in front of my family. My family member, embarrassed by how I was being treated, calmly made a reservation at a Hertz lot outside the airport, and to our surprise, for the same time and a bigger SUV, they only paid $296 USD. That’s over $1,000 difference! The service was horrible, rude, and despotic. I can’t believe people like this are allowed to deal with customers. Avoid this place. It was a shocking and humiliating experience.Recommendation: Take a taxi to any rental lot within Pittsburgh. Any of them will be cheaper and provide decent service, much better than this scam.
October 13 · Luis Humberto CamposAfter flying into Pittsburgh on a red eye, my family and I were expecting to get our rental car from Avis. At the counter we are greeted by a sign that says to go to the preferred booth in the garage. Upon finding the dark Avis booth at 0630, the attendant tells us to go back inside. When we tell her about the sign she tells us we read it wrong and she's closed until 0700, then closes the window in our face. Upon returning inside the airport we find other rental providers open and staffed. When they finally did open, instead of giving us keys to a parked car we were told a vehicle would be brought to us in the garage. 25 minutes later that vehicle arrived. We arrived to airport at 0545 and left at 0730Do not rent from Avis at PIT airport if arriving by red-eye. Honestly after the treatment we received I would say skip them all together.
April 21 · Fred DavisWe got scammed.Booked a car online for 3 days. When we went to get the car, the lady at the counter was extremely unpleasant, tried to pressure us into paying additional fees we had already paid, and menaced us saying we would get banned from Avis if we didn't pay extra. She finally saw on our folder that we paid, and then asked us for a card tap for the deposit. When we tapped, she told us that our booking was voided and there wasn't anything we could do, and to call customer service for a refund. In the end, we explained our situation to a competitor, Alamo, who arranged us a replacement car for 40% of the price we paid with Avis. Hopefully we got our money back.
October 15 · Andrew RossJeff Santa is an absolute embarassment of a manager who obviously cannot follow the Avis code of conduct for employees, which is obviously available online only to improve the perception of the company and not to serve as binding policy for their employees. This is the worst Avis I've ever used. The NW Arkansas branch even blows it away. I had a similar experience as those who fly in late to Pittsburgh only to find their reservations cancelled, yet invoiced, then had to fight for a refund while being stranded with my wife and small children in the wee hours of the morning. It makes no sense given that there is contactless checkout available for status holders. Despite my status and previous exclusive use of Avis, I was apparently blacklisted from renting permanently for complaining about Jeff's incredible ineptitude, despite his soliciting my feedback after leaving me high and dry with no recourse. There was absolutely no attempt at customer service, and the call center they use (they now claim to be employees) continually laughed at me, taunted me, and eventually got a reaction that apparently violates some unwritten policy sufficient for them to put me on a do not rent list. I have never had an issue with a rental company and certainly have never been blacklisted for complaints, of which I've had at no other Avis location. Despite this fabricated policy, I was never informed of the placement on a list by Jeff containing material falsehoods. I've scoured the rental terms, and no authority is granted in them for what he did to me. I had a pending rental at another location, but Avis was going to let me show up at DTW to learn this information when I went to check out. Luckily, I was checking on my status only days before my scheduled (and prepaid) rental to learn about it. And, to cancel that via the app or website, they attempt to make you consent to being charged a cancellation fee, despite their actual terms and conditions. I'll be initiating a formal action and, in my opinion, everyone similarly affected should as well to prevent this incompetent "leadership" from impacting others so detrimentally.
