Enterprise Rent-A-Car Introduce
For residents and businesses across Nassau County and the greater Long Island area of New York, a reliable rental car service is often a necessity, not a luxury. Whether you need a temporary vehicle while your own is in the shop, a cargo van for a big move, or a full-size sedan for a weekend getaway, having a dependable local agency makes all the difference. The Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch located at 220 Fulton St in Farmingdale, NY, serves as a primary hub for these needs, offering a vast fleet backed by the resources of a major national brand.
This location is especially notable for identifying as a women-owned business, demonstrating a commitment to local entrepreneurship within the New York community. While the company provides essential services and corporate-level benefits like active military discounts, recent customer experiences highlight the critical importance of understanding and preparing for the location's specific rental and payment policies, particularly concerning the necessary documentation for debit card users and the potentially confusing charges associated with optional services like gas and toll passes. For New Yorkers planning their transportation, a careful review of the location's rules is recommended to ensure a smooth transaction.
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch is conveniently situated on Fulton Street, a main thoroughfare in Farmingdale, Long Island. This central location provides easy access for customers traveling from various parts of Nassau and Suffolk counties, making it a practical option for those living or working near the Long Island Expressway (I-495) or the Southern State Parkway.

As a dual Car Rental Agency and Van Rental Agency, the Farmingdale branch maintains a diverse fleet to cover virtually any travel or hauling requirement for Long Island residents. The vehicle classes typically available cater to budget-conscious travelers, families, and commercial users alike.

When considering a car rental in the Farmingdale or Long Island area of New York, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car branch on Fulton Street presents a blend of strong features, but requires customers to be meticulously prepared.
The most compelling reasons to choose this location are its Active Military Discount, a vital benefit for the large military and veteran community in New York, and its classification as a women-owned business, aligning with a desire to support local, diverse enterprises. Furthermore, the extensive fleet—from compact cars to 15-passenger vans—ensures nearly any vehicle need can be met.
However, the critical takeaway from recent customer feedback is that preparation is non-negotiable. Customers must thoroughly understand the company's often strict policies, particularly for non-credit card rentals. For debit card users, you must bring *exactly* the proof of residency required (e.g., a utility bill matching the license address), as staff may lack the flexibility to accept alternatives like bank statements or W-2s, a point of significant friction for some patrons.
Additionally, New York drivers should note the policies on optional charges. The TollPass Service, while convenient for navigating the state's all-electronic toll roads, bills tolls at the higher, non-discounted cash rate plus a daily administrative fee ($4.95 - $5.35 per usage day, max $34.65 per rental), and the charges can appear on your card weeks or even months later. Similarly, pre-paying for fuel may include a charge for the value of a full tank and potentially additional non-disclosed taxes or fees on the per-gallon price, leading to what some customers describe as "deceptive" or "nickel and diming" practices.
In summary, this location offers a premium product (the Enterprise fleet) and valuable benefits (military discount, women-owned status) but requires the New York renter to be fully knowledgeable about the documentation and fee structure to avoid frustration and unexpected costs. If you arrive fully prepared with the necessary documents and are clear on the terms for tolls and fuel, this branch can be a professional and efficient choice.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1~ I used to love this location — now I strongly recommend staying away.Just six months ago, I left a glowing review because the previous team was outstanding: respectful, helpful, and professional. They made the rental process easy, and I trusted them with my business. Sadly, that experience feels like a distant memory now.Today, I came fully prepared: driver’s license, debit card, bank statement, paystub, W-2 — all showing the same address. But I was still denied a rental because I didn’t bring a utility bill, the only proof of residency they would accept. Everything else was dismissed without a second thought. What made it worse was the attitude. The person at the counter didn’t seem professional or willing to help. No flexibility, no logic, just a cold “no.” We work with customers too, and if we treated people like this, we’d be out of business. For the record, I don’t use credit cards — I believe in using real money, and I always pay with cash or debit. I shouldn’t be punished for being financially responsible.Enterprise: if you’re reading this — please do better. To everyone else: stay away from this location. It’s not what it used to be ~
July 26 · Naim WhosayneWhat an absolute headache it has been renting with Enterprise. First when I received the rental car I opted into using their gas since I was told it was $2.35 per gallon upon return, which was great. What I wasn’t told was that they charge you the value of a full tank and the $2.35 price point which I was told did not include tax. Absolutely crazy that they can be so deceptive on pricing! Next I had to use the rental to go through toll roads, which shouldn’t have been a problem because there was an EZ Pass. Again what they don’t tell you is their EZ pass doesn’t receive the discounted tolls for actually using the EZ pass, so you are charged the cash toll amount. Furthermore, even though you use an EZ pass which should automatically be recorded, Enterprise “waits for the toll to be reported from the toll authority and you can be charged anywhere between 2-8 weeks or even up to a year after going through the toll”, as per Enterprises customer service line. This company should be ashamed of it’s unfaithful nickel and diming practices. Last time I will ever use them.
October 14 · Anthony HorvathI was impressed with Enterprise from beginning to end. The employees l worked with were very helpful. The car l rented was very comfortable. Enterprise actually picked up the car from me at the dealer where l was buying a new car. I would definitely use them again.
June 20 · Anne BoyleCurrently renting from this location (Wednesday 06/11 – Friday 06/13). Not sure if it was due to my National status or just good timing, but I received a pretty good upgrade from the class I originally reserved. Jack, who picked me up, was friendly and welcoming. The branch manager, Takara, was very professional, and another team member—whose name I didn’t catch—was consistently polite and helpful. I’ll definitely return to this location for future rentals and would highly recommend it!
June 12 · Scott XiaoWhen I went to the store, I was told that they had only one car which was station type RAV4 and I beg them that I cannot drive this car. I was told that it was the last car and there is nothing they can do Period I called next day and I was told that to get a small car that the wait period of two weeks. I was not able to use the rental car and after almost 2 weeks I had to return the car. Very bad service very bad attitude and not helpful at all and by the way, I’m 80 years old and still there was no consideration. Very very disappointed.By the way, I am a physician.
