Trust me spend the extra 10-20% and go with literally any other company besides Budget/Avis (at least at BWI).The first time I booked, a year or two ago, you have 1-2 people to take care of 20-30 reservations at the same time. The first time I waited, not exaggerating, an hour and a half! Barely got a car (actually they put me in a huge truck, which was difficult to drive, because they ran out of cars), the people in line behind me were not so lucky and did not get a car.The next time I flew in to BWI I remembered the terrible experience and decided to go with a different company, which was fine.This second time I used Budget (I figured I’d give them a second chance because: maybe it was a one off before), it was closed, with a sign stating go to Avis. You go to Avis and wait an hour to find out… oops… no cars. Why the heck would you not have cars if people book a reservation? And why would you only have 1-2 people to service everyone? So no car. Of course customer service phone is closed. And… no other rental car place has cars at this hour if you have not pre-booked. Looks like an expensive Uber ride out of here. I look forward to a refund on my $200 prepay and look forward to never, ever, again giving my money and time to Budget/Avis. Company is a joke, and not in a good way.Please do yourself a favor and spend a little more to avoid BWI Budget/Avis

It’s been exactly 3 hours of waiting in line since we took the shuttle from the airport to the car rental center.There needs to be serious change. The other counters stated “Oh that line isn’t that bad, it was longer during the day and the line was actually out the door.”In what world is waiting 3 hours for a car rental okay???
May 16 · Jess NguyenThe absolute worst. Every time I fly into BWI there is a line stretching into the parking with people who have reverberations. Minimum 1 hour wait to get to the counter. They typically have 1, maybe 2 (if you are lucky) people working the counter. They recommend that you use the pre-check to speed up the process, but when you get to the counter they ask you for the same information that you already provided. An absolute disaster. Use any rental car company at BWI…just not budget.
September 19 · Steve BellWe reserved a suburban in June from Budget as we had 6 people and 6 large pieces of luggage. We get there and counter is closed and directed us to the Avis counter where we waited in line for well over an hour. They finally directed us to a vehicle and we find its a smaller vehicle that would hold the 6 people but no place to put our luggage. They finally offer us 2 vehicles for the same price as the suburban and we take them but now they put the second vehicle in my son’s name as he was going to have to drive the second vehicle and paid for on my husband and my credit card. By this time we have been there 2 hours. My son goes to pull out of the garage and the big metal plate comes up out of the ground and smashes the underside of the vehicle. So now we have to wait for them to replace the car. Total time there was around 3 hours. We finally get out of there and after we return the vehicles a week later and get back home, we find we were charged for both vehicles. They charged us around $850 for the first rental which was correct and was supposed to cover both vehicles, and then charged us $2100 for the second vehicle. Both vehicles were the same class of vehicle so even if we were supposed to pay for both why was one $850 and the other $2100? I called and disputed the charge with budget, they opened a case and after talking to them multiple times they said they were refunding the $2100 for the second car in my son’s name. The refund never came through so I disputed the charge with our credit card and the money was refunded. Now my son gets a bill from Budget for the $2100 saying he owes this since we disputed the charge on our credit card and if he doesn’t pay it he is banned from renting from Hertz or Avis ever again. This is the worst company I have ever rented from and we have rented a lot of vehicles. They deserve zero stars!
