Approved Transportation Service Introduce
Introduction / Overview: Specialized Transportation for Mobility Needs
For many residents across New York City, particularly those in Brooklyn requiring specialized transport, Approved Transportation Service is listed as a dedicated provider in the vital category of Handicapped Transportation Service. This designation indicates a focus on non-emergency medical transportation, often referred to as ambulette service, which is essential for individuals with mobility limitations, including those using wheelchairs or who need assistance getting to and from medical appointments, rehabilitation centers, or personal destinations.
Unlike standard car rental agencies, this service does not rent vehicles for self-drive use. Instead, it provides a crucial service: reliable, assisted, door-to-door transportation for a population that cannot easily use standard public transit or taxi services. In a busy urban environment like New York, where accessibility can be a major challenge, dedicated service providers like Approved Transportation aim to fill a significant need by offering professional transport solutions equipped with the necessary accessibility features, such as ramps or lifts, and staffed by drivers trained to assist passengers with unique mobility requirements.
However, users considering this provider must weigh the necessity of the specialized service against recent, publicly available customer feedback, which has raised serious and specific concerns regarding driver conduct and operational safety. This makes due diligence and careful consideration of service reliability a critical step for all New York users.
Location and Accessibility: The East New York Base
Approved Transportation Service is physically located at 231 Malta St, Brooklyn, NY 11207, USA. This address situates the operation in the East New York area of Brooklyn, a location that offers practical access to several surrounding neighborhoods and key medical facilities across Brooklyn and Queens.
While the business focuses on providing service across a wide operational area, the physical location's amenities, as publicly noted, are modest but functional:
- The main functional amenity provided at the base is a Restroom facility, which is important for the staff operating from this location and may be available to pre-scheduled guests or visitors at the facility, though the primary service is conducted on the road.
- As a fleet-based operation, the Malta Street location serves as a central hub for vehicle dispatch, maintenance, and administrative operations.
For clients, it is important to understand that this location is the administrative and fleet base—all services are booked for pickup and drop-off at the customer's desired locations, such as a private residence, hospital, or clinic, making the physical address less critical for daily users but essential for the company's logistical operations.
Services Offered
As a handicapped transportation service, the primary services offered by Approved Transportation Service typically fall under the category of Non-Emergency Medical Transportation ($text{NEMT}$), which includes:
- Ambulette Transportation: Specialized vehicle services utilizing vans equipped with lifts or ramps to transport individuals who require a wheelchair or mobility device but do not need emergency medical services.
- Assisted Transport to Medical Appointments: Providing scheduled rides for essential healthcare visits, including dialysis, physical therapy, rehabilitation, and doctor's appointments across the New York region.
- Hospital Discharge Transport: Assisting in the transfer of patients from a hospital setting to their residence or another care facility, often requiring staff assistance beyond just driving.
- Mobility-Impaired Passenger Transport: Offering transport for general life activities, errands, or personal events for clients who are unable to utilize conventional transportation due to physical limitations.
- Group Transportation for Facilities: Potentially catering to adult day care programs, nursing homes, or rehabilitation facilities needing to move multiple patients or residents simultaneously.
- Door-to-Door/Bedside Service: This level of service often means the driver is trained to assist the passenger not just into the vehicle, but also to and from the residence or facility door, providing necessary help beyond the curb.
Features / Highlights
While the core feature of the business is its specialized transport capability, potential clients must be aware that the perceived value of these features is currently challenged by operational concerns. Based on the provided data, the main features and a critical point of concern are:
- Specialized Fleet: The primary service feature is the use of vehicles (vans/buses) explicitly designed and equipped for individuals with mobility impairments, likely including wheelchair lifts, securement systems, and spacious interiors.
- Trained Personnel: Drivers and attendants in this sector are typically expected to be professionally trained in safe patient handling, securement procedures, and first aid, ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during transit.
- Dedicated Contact Information: A professional phone line ($text{718-648-2222}$) is provided for booking, scheduling, and direct communication, which is vital for time-sensitive medical transport needs.
- Customer Safety and Conduct Concerns: A significant highlight of caution comes directly from customer reviews, which describe recent incidents of highly dangerous and reckless driving, specifically mentioning actions such as blowing a red light at high speed and tailgating in residential areas. These explicit safety violations represent a major risk factor that customers in the New York area must acknowledge and consider seriously before booking.

What Is Worth Choosing
Choosing a transportation service in New York requires balancing specialized need with uncompromising safety, especially for the elderly or mobility-impaired. Approved Transportation Service is worth choosing only if they can definitively demonstrate that they have immediately addressed and rectified the severe safety concerns publicly raised by recent customers. The inherent need for a specialized ambulette service in Brooklyn is high, but safety remains the single most important factor.
Clients are typically drawn to this type of provider when they require:
- Mandatory Wheelchair Accessibility: For passengers who cannot transfer out of their mobility device, a handicapped transportation service is a necessity.
- Assistance Beyond the Curb: The need for a professional driver or attendant to physically assist the passenger from their door to the vehicle is a critical service offered by specialized transport.
However, the explicit and recent customer reports of dangerous and potentially life-threatening driver behavior cannot be overlooked. For New York residents, the decision to use Approved Transportation Service should be made with extreme caution. Potential users are strongly advised to inquire directly about the company's safety protocols, driver training certifications, and the specific disciplinary actions taken in response to the reported incidents of reckless driving. For essential, non-emergency medical transportation, a provider's safety record must be beyond reproach, as the passengers are often among the most vulnerable members of the community.
