The facility features a wheelchair accessible entrance, making the transition from the terminal to the rental counter straightforward and barrier-free. Additionally, wheelchair accessible parking lots are available nearby to accommodate patrons with specific mobility requirements, reflecting a dedication to inclusive service delivery. Given the 24/7 nature of an airport, the counter itself operates extensive hours, typically from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily, ensuring vehicle pickup and drop-off can align with a wide range of flight schedules.
Dollar Car Rental at DCA focuses exclusively on being a premier Car Rental Agency, but within that category, it offers a robust array of vehicle types and related services essential for a complete travel experience in the Virginia and D.C. area.
- Diverse Fleet Selection: A wide range of vehicles, including cost-effective Economy cars (such as Chevrolet Spark or similar), standard and full-size Sedans (like a Toyota Corolla or Chevrolet Malibu), SUVs of various sizes (e.g., Nissan Rogue, Jeep Compass, or Chevrolet Suburban), and specialty vehicles.
- Specialty Vehicle Rentals: Options for Minivans (like a Chrysler Pacifica) for family or group travel, full-size Passenger Vans (such as a Ford Transit) for larger organizations, and Convertibles (Ford Mustang or similar) for scenic drives through Virginia.

- Additional Driver Inclusion: Customers have the option to add additional authorized drivers at the rental counter, subject to standard terms and conditions. The additional driver must be present with a valid license, and fees may apply, though exceptions may exist for spouses, domestic partners, or corporate accounts.

Choosing Dollar Car Rental at Reagan National Airport is a strategic decision for travelers focused on convenience, value, and specific community benefits. For anyone flying into DCA, the ability to walk directly to the rental counter and garage without waiting for or depending on a shuttle service saves significant time and reduces stress, which is invaluable, especially after a long flight.
Beyond convenience, the agency's commitment to specific groups—demonstrated by its identification as a women-owned business and the provision of Active military discounts—makes it a preferred choice for customers who prioritize supporting diverse ownership and recognizing the service of military members in the Northern Virginia area.
However, potential customers should set realistic expectations for the fast-paced airport environment. Public feedback suggests that while the service is structurally sound, communication is paramount. To ensure the best experience, users are strongly advised to perform due diligence: complete as much as possible via the online check-in process, confirm all terms—such as adding a second driver or the fuel policy—in writing on the physical rental agreement before leaving the counter, and allocate ample time for both pickup and return, as external factors like gate staffing can occasionally cause delays. By taking these proactive steps and capitalizing on the agency’s central location and specialized discounts, travelers in the Virginia region can successfully leverage Dollar Car Rental at DCA for their local transportation needs.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Worst experience with a car rental agency in my life! Started out bad, with my fiancé and I waiting in line for an hour and a half to add a second driver. We had already checked in online but their website specifically said that in order to add a second driver you had to do it at the desk. Once we got to the front of the line the lady at the desk informed us that we could have added a second driver at the garage and didn't have to wait in the line. We showed her where it said on the website that you did have to add a second driver from the desk and asked if there was anything she could do for us for the miscommunication on their part and the inconvenience of us now pushing out timeline back an hour and a half. She said that she would put a note on our reservation that we could return the car at the current fuel level and they would not charge us to refuel the vehicle back to the original level. Once that was completed and we added the second driver we went out to retrieve our vehicle which was no longer there. We then had to return to the desk to be assigned a different vehicle. We finally got to our vehicle, loaded our luggage and attempted to leave the garage. There was a long, backed up line trying to leave the garage. After about 20 minutes a man behind us in the line exited his vehicle to see what was taking so long. He made his way back to his car while informing everyone else still waiting in the line that they had one gate opened and that the person running the gate was being trained. Shortly after that they opened up a second gate and after 30 minutes we finally made it out of the garage. Now, when we returned the vehicle, we were checking out with the agent at the garage who informed us that since we did not return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel that we would be charged $10.99 per gallon to refill the vehicle. We informed her that when we rented the vehicle that the lady at the desk said that we could return the vehicle at any fuel level and that we would not be charged to refuel. She brought over her manager, a guy named Wayne who tried to tell us that there was nothing in writing on the reservation that stated that we would not be charged for refueling and if it wasn't in writing that they could not honor it. After arguing back in forth, we simply stated that since we still had 30 minutes until out drop-off time we would just take the car back and refuel it on our own. Once we said that he agreed that he would waive the refueling fee for us but that for next time to make sure we got everything in writing. With that we thought everything was done there. WRONG!We just received a letter in the mail stating that we returned the vehicle damaged (which we did not) and that we owe $1,497.38 in damages. This feels like retribution from Wayne for us "getting one over on him" for the refueling cost. I have honestly never in my life dealt with so much stress from a rental company! Absolutely appalling experience from start to finish (still not completely finished) and I will never in my life rent from the Hertz corporation again!
July 19 · David UtterHorrible experience and waste of time. My ID is cracked so the reservation was denied. Then I offered my passport, still denied. Then asked if my wife could reserve a car once again denied. It seemed they were just being difficult for the sport of it. Its fine, I’ll never spend another penny with any Hertz affiliate again.
October 03 · Barrett SimmonsAvoid avoid avoid Dollar and the other Hertz-owned brands. This rental has been riddled with billing problems. I had been over charged because I picked up early so I was charged for the additional hour AND they jacked up my daily rate. Upon return it took way too long to identify and resolve why this happened. Then a week later, I get slapped with a LUDICROUS $105 bill for going over ONE toll bridge that had a $4 toll. Apparently if anything picks up the transponder in the car (which I did not touch) they will bill you their "daily all-inclusive toll rate" despite explicit declining it instead of just passing through the toll like any other reasonable company would do. Now I have another headache to dispute. They need to stop deliberately trying to scam their customers.
September 28 · James BryantI was extremely skeptical about renting from this company in spite of all the reviews. My experience was nothing but pleasant. When I went to pick the car up it was a little difficult. Returning the car was a breeze. The woman who was working that morning sorry I can’t remember her name but she made my return extremely easy. In all I had no issues once so ever with this company. I’ll use them again whenever I’m in DC.
July 19 · James St.PatrickBeware the “Managers Special” - I booked and pre-paid in full for a “Managers Special” - which was stated to be a Compact or higher class vehicle. At pickup, I was forced to either accept an EV or be forced to pay an “upgrade” fee to get any class of gas-powered vehicle. The pre-paid reservation should have at least included an Economy class gas vehicle without being forced to “upgrade”. The “upgrade” fee amounted to over DOUBLE the original pre-paid total for the entire rental! Incredibly unreasonable!
