Hertz Car Rental - Las Vegas - East Sahara Avenue Introduce
For residents and visitors in the greater Las Vegas area, securing a rental vehicle that is both convenient and suited to your specific needs is essential for navigating the city and exploring the vast natural beauty of Nevada. The Hertz Car Rental location on East Sahara Avenue provides a valuable, non-airport option for those needing reliable transport without the hassle of the Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) rental center. Situated at 1815 E Sahara Ave, this branch offers a wide-ranging fleet that caters to local residents needing a temporary replacement vehicle, business professionals, and tourists alike.
This Hertz location is known for offering more than just typical passenger cars; it also features specialized options, including **Cargo Van Rental**, which is a significant asset for local businesses, moving needs, or large-scale projects. They strive to provide a modern and accessible experience, featuring **NFC mobile payments** and accommodating all customers with a **Wheelchair accessible entrance** and **Wheelchair accessible parking lot**. Furthermore, in a show of appreciation, the branch highlights that they offer **Active military discounts**, providing a tangible benefit to the dedicated service members within the Nevada community.
However, potential renters, particularly those relying on insurance claims or specific vehicle types, should approach their reservation with clear expectations and advance preparation. A detailed customer review underscores the difficulties that can arise with high-demand vehicles, such as the electric models (e.g., Tesla). Issues cited included vehicles not being ready upon arrival, lengthy wait times for vehicle swaps—even for reserved models—and receiving cars in poor condition (e.g., melted interiors, mechanical noises, and non-functional air conditioning in the scorching Las Vegas heat). It was noted by the manager that some specialty vehicles, like the Teslas, are sourced from external partners like Uber, which can contribute to the unpredictable condition of the rental. This experience suggests that while the variety of the fleet is a strong draw, customers must remain vigilant about the vehicle's condition at pickup and be prepared for potential delays in service, especially when requesting a specific, popular, or specialty car.
Location and Accessibility
The Hertz Car Rental branch is positioned strategically off the main Strip congestion, providing easy access from central and eastern Las Vegas neighborhoods. This neighborhood location, often preferred by locals over airport counters, helps reduce the time spent traveling to and from the rental site.

This makes it a practical option for those living in or visiting areas like Downtown Las Vegas, Sunrise Manor, or the main hospital district, allowing for quick transitions from daily life into a rental vehicle.

What is Worth Choosing
Choosing Hertz Car Rental on East Sahara Avenue is highly worthwhile for specific user groups, primarily those who value the **non-airport location** and the availability of **specialty vehicles**. This branch is a superb choice if you live in the eastern or central Las Vegas valley and need a rental for an insurance claim or a local moving project requiring a **Cargo Van**. The **Active military discounts** also make it a compelling and economically sound option for service members. The ability to pay with **NFC mobile payments** adds a layer of modern efficiency that many customers appreciate.
However, prospective renters should be aware of the importance of managing expectations, especially regarding the condition and readiness of popular models like Teslas, which have been noted to have quality control issues due to third-party sourcing. If, on the other hand, you require an exotic, high-end, or flawlessly maintained vehicle for a special occasion, you may need to allocate extra time for potential vehicle swaps and carefully inspect the vehicle before driving away to avoid unexpected issues later on. By leveraging their convenient location and checking the specifics of your reservation beforehand, you can ensure a successful rental experience with Hertz.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1We were renting a vehicle through Hertz by way of our insurance company, State Farm, due to our personal vehicle being repaired. We requested a Tesla and was told a model Y would be available for us. When I showed up, the model Y Tesla was not returned and therefore not available for us to pick up. There were no other Tesla models available either. The manager stated he would call when a Tesla became available so we could make the switch. We were given a gas vehicle with less than a quarter of a tank of gas. The next day, I received a call that the model Y was now available and we could stop by anytime to swap out the vehicle. The hertz location is approximately 30 min away from our home. When my husband arrived, he waited 45 min to swap cards, causing him to miss a doctors appointment. The model y was in rough condition to say the least. The interior was melted and the side panel of the drivers seat was held together with black electrical tape. Four days later, the car started make a very loud grinding noise whenever making a right turn. It got to the point where we no longer felt safe driving the car. I again called hertz to explain the issue and was told again that I could come in to swap out the car when they had another Tesla available. I received a call the next day stating a model 3 was available. I drove the 30 minutes in a car that did not feel safe to drive. When I got to Hertz, the waiting room was full. I waited approximately 45 min to swap the cars. The manager apologized and said they get their teslas from Uber and never know what condition they will come in😳. He pulled around model 3 for me. I got in and noticed the interior was melted, the steering wheel was peeling and a warning came on informing me there was an issue with the cooling system. We are in Las Vegas at the end of August with 108 degree weather. I went back into the office to inform the manager the air conditioning doesn’t work. He said he had a few other tealas available but they needed to be cleaned. He said before I waste my time cleaning one, let me pull on around to make sure it is ok for you. I got into yet another model 3. The condition of the interior, again, was rough but the air worked and there were no other alerts showing up except low wiper fluid. I went back into the office and explained that this car would work. The manager cleaned the inside of the vehicle and pulled it back around for me. After wasting 1hr and 45 minutes of my day, I was in my way. We got an email on Aug 26th stating that the max allotment from our insurance company has been met and we would now be charged a daily rate of $50ish if we wanted to extend the rental. Our personal vehicle was still a week from being completed. There was no way we were going to pay top dollar for a car in very poor condition. I returned the car to Hertz the next day the minute they opened. I was chard the 20% of the rental I was responsible for through our insurance as well as 2 days at full price. I explained my experience with the manager, and he said all he could do was waive the current day charge, which is funny because I returned it first thing in the morning. We contacted our body shop and they graciously offered us a stunning Tesla to use at NO charge until they could finish our personal car. I will never rent from nor recommend Hertz to ANYONE.
September 01 · Debbie EdwardsYeah, I had to wait a bit for my rental to be available but customers also need to realize a lot of things like no cars available is out of their control. Hertz allows people to make reservations without knowing how many cars will be turned in on time or extended. Hertz themselves allow the over bookings. My insurance co.pany made the reservation for me and it still took a while for them to find a car for me. I had no other issues from them.
September 20 · Jennifer GillThis is my second time renting with Hertz, and it’s been awesome, thanks to Malaya Abdullah Tucker, who goes by Mimi, and her manager. I was clueless about car rentals the first time, but Mimi totally had my back, walking me through the best credit card options and rental policies with such patience. She’s hands-down the best, making everything super easy both times. Her manager, a great guy, is just as knowledgeable and always makes time to help, even when it’s crazy busy. I’m thrilled with their service and can’t recommend Hertz enough!
August 15 · Kalvin GutierrezAfter reading the bad reviews here I was a little nervous they wouldn’t have a car when I showed up. I booked the cheapest option, the “manager’s special”. They said it would be a truck but they didn’t have any trucks, so they gave me an EV instead, a Kia Niro. I paid an extra $26 to return the battery at any level so I wouldn’t have to charge it before returning. That felt like a good deal because charging stations often aren’t cheap and take a while. The Niro gets about 250 miles of range, which felt accurate. On one charge I went out to Valley of Fire State Park, out to red rocks, did the scenic drive, and drove around LV quite a bit with still 30 miles to spare. The price was $115 all-in for 2 days including the $26 to recharge the battery for me. Great price, granted this was during the week.Service was friendly and fast though I did arrive at an unbusy time. It was busy when I returned the car, but I simply left my key and a final receipt arrived in my inbox within a couple hours. No surprises on the receipt, $115 out the door.I’d gladly book here again. They saved my trip after having a terrible experience at Easirent near the airport.
April 24 · Ben MartinThere is policy's pinned in front of their desks that was not updated nor related to in the state policy making it difficult for new customers to feel discriminated. i called ahead and was informed that I was able to rent a car for a vacation with family came in with a valid ID 2 different cards that has their deposit amount to watch them run it in the system then not accept it because the type of vehicle we are getting is to big. i was greeted fairly but the coworker next to her was not polite interrupting the first person that welcomed me so kindly then to be pursued by her partner who wanted to just take care of us. I felt a little bad. some of these employees just don't have the critical thinking to not do that so abruptly and i bet her partner wanted to say something but she didn't want to make it a big deal out of it. Some phone trainees also don't have a voice of their own i overheard a upset customer was given the wrong suggested location and they did not have the patience to apologize for the wrong doing.
