He explained what happened, showed empathy, and wished there was something he could override. That kind of service stood out—and I appreciated it. He deserves credit.The next day, I drove to the Mesa location to try and pick up the original rental, thinking it was just a miscommunication. But when I arrived, Matt, the assistant manager, told me the reservation had been canceled overnight and offered nothing. No effort to check who I spoke to the night before, no review of call logs or voicemails, not even a basic attempt to troubleshoot. Just “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do,” repeated over and over. He told me to call customer service like that would magically fix the whole thing.I ended up spending far more than I intended, all because of poor internal communication and a lack of accountability. To be honest, I normally stick with a trusted suite of companies—my hotels, my rental cars, my credit cards. June 18 · ben NguyenI’m extremely disappointed with my experience today. I booked a same-day rental at 4 p.m. and even called around 6 p.m. to confirm — no one answered or returned my call. I then paid $100 for an Uber to get to your location at Mesa Gateway Airport by 9 p.m., only to be told that same-day appointments weren’t being honored and that someone should have contacted me — but no one did. As a result, I was left stranded at the airport with my hotel in Phoenix and no transportation. I lost a full day of meetings and events today, and now instead of attending more scheduled events tomorrow, I have to spend the morning trying to sort out a car rental situation that should’ve already been handled. This experience was not only frustrating and unprofessional, but it’s also caused major disruption to my work and schedule.
May 22 · Tyler WeedenHere waiting for our pre-booked rental car. Apparently their internet is timing out. We've been waiting over 40 minutes to get a car. Absolutely ridiculous! Only offered us a $50 credit for the inconvenience. Now helping another customer returning a vehicle while we sit and wait! Will NEVER rent here again!! Update. Finally got a rental, got into it and the inside is complete dusty and change oil soon light is on what a joke!
May 07 · S BeauMoTLDR; If you’re Presidents club there isn’t a board and there are no keys in the cars. You have to wait in line. Not the end of the world by any means, but that’s not obvious on the Hertz website/app so didn’t want you to be confused or walking around a lot checking doors.The one gentleman working behind the desk was fabulous. So thankful he was there with a smiling face to help all of us get cars and on our way. He gets 5 stars.This location though only gets 3, due to the lack of a dedicated Hertz counter and lack of Gold Member/Presidents Club functionality which created longer lines and an hour long wait (and more) for everyone.The airport was really overcrowded (not Hertz fault) but because Hertz, Dollar & Thrifty share a counter, only had one employee, and there was no board for Gold Members nor keys in the cars for them, the process was longer for all customers. It would have sped up the process considerably if the programs Hertz touts and encourages were actually present at this location. Would have meant shorter lines and happier travelers.
March 28 · Jessica Lynn ShullWe went on a family trip and accidently rented a car from the mesa airport instead of the Phoenix Airport. We were assured by our mesa hertz employee we could easily rearrange this for our airport drop off. It was anything but easy or kind. After several attempts to talk to a person that actually worked at the mesa airport even tho we called their number. The 8th person we talked to said yes we can return it to the airport there will just be a fee. The person would not tell us what the estimate fee would be. After we tried 3 more times to contact a real person we were finallybable to find someone to give us a quote to move are car return from one airport to another 20 miles away. The cist would only be 1500 dollars. Our car rental for a week was only 527 dollars. I would recommend taking pictures of your car before pick up they tried to charge us for these scratches even tho these pictures are taken in their lot at night and we returned the car in daylight. I made the mistake of choosing a car rental company from now on i will go with renting a private car. This companybis just terrible. You have been warned.
