U-save Car Rental Introduce
For many Californians and visitors landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), securing reliable and affordable ground transportation is the first priority. U-Save Car Rental, a car and van rental agency conveniently situated just off the airport campus, aims to provide a range of vehicles for exploring Southern California's vast and diverse landscape. Whether you are a local resident needing a temporary replacement vehicle or a traveler planning a scenic road trip across the state, U-Save Car Rental offers a fleet that includes everything from compact, fuel-efficient cars to spacious vans and SUVs.
As a branch of a nationwide rental system, the Los Angeles location at 5301 W 104th St is positioned to serve a high volume of airport traffic, making it a common choice for budget-conscious travelers booking through third-party platforms. The agency advertises a commitment to providing various rental options with the convenience of an off-airport location. It is important for all prospective renters to review their detailed policies regarding pricing, insurance, and vehicle availability prior to completing a reservation, particularly when utilizing booking aggregators, to ensure a smooth and transparent experience.
U-Save Car Rental’s location at 5301 W 104th St places it strategically in the immediate LAX-adjacent area of Los Angeles, California (90045). For travelers arriving at LAX, the agency offers a shuttle service to transport customers from the terminal area to the rental counter, a standard procedure for many off-airport rental companies in the region. The location is easily accessible, and the facility itself is designed with customer comfort and accessibility in mind.
For customers arriving by personal vehicle for a local rental, on-site parking is available. Furthermore, the agency has taken steps to ensure accessibility for all patrons. The facility provides a wheelchair accessible entrance and a dedicated wheelchair accessible parking lot, offering a more inclusive experience for customers with mobility needs. The operating hours typically run from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day, providing a generous window for pick-ups and returns, which is crucial given the high traffic and travel times in the LA metropolitan area.
U-Save Car Rental positions itself as a full-service agency, offering a number of conveniences and vehicle types essential for California travel. The primary services offered include:
- Diverse Vehicle Rental: Providing a fleet that generally includes compact, economy, mid-size, full-size sedans, SUVs (Small, Standard), and specialized vehicles like minivans and larger vans, catering to various customer needs from solo travel to group excursions.
- Van Rental Services: Recognized specifically as a Van rental agency, they offer vehicles like minivans and larger models, which are vital for family vacations or professional group transport around Southern California.
- Flexible Payment Options: The agency accepts a variety of modern payment methods, including major Credit cards, Debit cards (though specific deposit policies for debit cards should be confirmed prior to rental), and NFC mobile payments (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay).
- LAX Shuttle Service: A necessary service for an off-airport rental location, offering a free shuttle to transport customers between the LAX terminals and the 5301 W 104th St facility.
- Add-on Services: Availability of optional extras such as GPS navigation systems, child safety seats (infant, child, and booster seats), and potentially roadside assistance packages for enhanced peace of mind.
The key features and highlights of U-Save Car Rental are primarily related to its operational model and convenience:
- Competitive Pricing Focus: The company is often marketed on third-party booking sites as a budget-friendly choice, which is a major draw for cost-conscious travelers in a high-cost area like Los Angeles.
- Multi-Payment Acceptance: The acceptance of Debit cards and NFC mobile payments provides added flexibility beyond the major credit card requirement often imposed by larger national chains, though customers must inquire about the specific deposit requirements when using non-credit card options.
- On-Site Accessibility: The commitment to physical accessibility with a wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot ensures the facility is equipped to serve the entire local community and all arriving travelers.
- Travel Area Permissions: While vehicles are generally restricted to the contiguous United States, with travel outside California and specific authorization for Las Vegas, Nevada, driving to Utah and certain areas of Nevada is possible, though renters must confirm any potential mileage fees or restrictions for out-of-state travel.
- On-Site Services and Parking: Providing on-site parking is a significant convenience for local customers, allowing for easy drop-off of a personal vehicle while picking up a rental.

For a California resident or an incoming traveler, what is worth choosing U-Save Car Rental for is primarily its competitive pricing, especially for budget-conscious users, and the convenience of its LAX-area location with shuttle service. It serves as a necessary alternative to the major in-terminal agencies. The availability of a range of vehicles, particularly the sought-after vans, and the acceptance of debit cards are also strong points of distinction that cater to a broader customer base than some competitors. The acceptance of NFC mobile payments adds a modern, convenient layer to the transaction process.
However, prospective renters, especially those booking through third-party sites like Expedia or Kayak, must exercise extreme caution. There have been reports from real customers about a lack of transparency concerning additional, potentially mandatory fees—including various taxes and charges for tolls—and alleged pressure to purchase redundant insurance coverage despite existing policies. Customers also report issues with reserved vehicle types not being available upon arrival, necessitating an upgrade fee. The toll payment system, which can be mandatory through the agency’s program, may include daily convenience fees even if toll roads are used infrequently, a cost that is often avoidable if the renter pays the toll authority directly.
To ensure a positive rental experience, it is highly recommended that customers call the U-Save Car Rental Los Angeles office directly at the provided number, (424) 295-0587, after making a reservation through any external platform. This essential step should be used to confirm the total final price, all mandatory fees, the specific vehicle type availability, and the exact insurance requirements and options before arriving for pick-up. Taking proactive measures to understand all policies will help mitigate potential frustrations regarding unexpected charges or service changes and ensure that the rental cost remains within the customer's expected budget.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1If I could give 0 stars, I would.I do not recommend this company for several reasons:1. When you book through Booking, Expedia, or any other platform, they clearly show the final price with the phrase “this is what you’ll pay, no extra fees or surprise charges.” However, when you arrive at this company, they try to charge you for everything.2. Insurance coverage: even if you already paid for insurance directly through Expedia, they still insist on charging you again.3. Reserved vehicle: I had booked a specific car, but when I arrived, they told me it was no longer available. The only option was to pay more for a more expensive one, with no alternatives.4. Tolls: they claim it’s mandatory to pay toll fees through them. That is false, since if you are traveling from California to Utah or Nevada, you can easily avoid toll roads.5. Customer service: the staff is rude, unprofessional, and pressures you into paying additional charges.⚠️ Overall, a terrible experience. Dishonest practices, hidden fees, and awful service.
September 08 · Laura Stefania Medina MartinezThis place is so great! (See how I just lied there?) That’s exactly what they’ll do to you. Booked through Expedia.ca, it’s $160 CAD for about three days. Great. Only when you arrive, they show you the fine print, it’s not “prepaid.” You pay at the counter. So $160 CAD, turns out to be $300 USD with all the fees and coverages. (California tax. Property tax. Tax for going through a tunnel. Tax for putting the tire on the road. And basically for a Jimmy rod.) You feel like you can’t leave or say no and walk away because you already spent so long lining up in line, and the crazy shuttle (that shimmy SEVEN terminals to get to their location). No way I’m sitting through all that again and standing in line for at another counter. So you sucker up and pay through the nose as a poor chump. Only you walk out after they brown nosing you (once you’ve paid), like they’re offering you the best kind of service there is in town, you realize how much you’ve been ripped by these Californian business people. Kiddos to you in the way you run your business, I tip my hat to you.
October 08 · Lenny KThis was the worst experience I've had renting a car. I was scheduled to pick up my car at 1:30pm and ended up getting the car at 3:08pm with 4 people that were lined up before me. The long wait was due to the employees all trying to force their CDW and Liability insurance onto the customers. Obviously, alot of folks were not happy about the pushy behavior and a lady in front of me actually walked out after arguing with them about not wanting to use their insurance. While I was filling out the form for using my own liability insurance, the employee kept suggesting/pushing that I should use their coverage instead when I obviously do not want it. Another employee helping a customer with an apparent expired insurance somehow waived that off after pulling the customer to another room and coming out moments later. It's super odd to me considering I had to make sure my insurance was up to date and accurate. I also noticed the car's range was showing 260 miles when I picked it up at "full" and the range was 500 when I actually pumped a full tank at the gas station. From my knowledge, cars can be filled up to the top line near "F" to look full, but is not actually 100% full utilizing the whole tank. I find that also sketchy and odd. Tire pressure was also in the range of 36-38psi. That is pretty high for a nissan altima in my opinion. Would I rather pay a bit more at another car rental company to not deal with this company again? Yup.
October 07 · Eric Van LeTerrible experience at their LAX location! The first issue was the "free" shuttle from LAX to U-save's location. First bus was packed and I couldn't get on. An hour later, no other shuttle arrived. No human answers the phone, so I had to pay for a cab to get there. 2nd issue: excruciatingly slow service at counter. 3rd issue: lots of hidden fees including them putting a hold on my card for the amount of my insurance deductible which was more than 2x the total rental. 4th issue: even though you put the pick up & drop off time when you reserve, you learn that they don't open until 7am so any return before then is to an alternate location which is a parking garage with an additional $28.00 fee. My drop off is next week, so I'm not sure how that will go or if their shuttle to LAX will appear. The only good was the agent (Herbert) was extremely efficient and helpful, and acknowledged my frustration, and the car was very clean and a newer model. Google community, there are no savings at u-save so pay the extra money for a professional rental agency!
October 16 · Susan IfillWorst car rental ever. Rented in Italy. Price was good and the car was fine. However, it was hard to find and after a long overnight flight, they didn’t give us instructions of where to return the car. They didn’t answer phone calls or emails. GPS took us to a different business. Rather than miss our flight, we left the car at Avis after driving around and asking other rental companies where U Save was located. They charged us $45 for an extra day and $45 for a cleaning fee. The car was cleaner when we left it than when we got it. Never rent from them
