Allied Rent A Car Introduce
For California locals and visitors arriving at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), finding a cost-effective vehicle is a primary concern. Allied Rent A Car positions itself in the highly competitive LAX area market as a budget-conscious car rental agency. Located just outside the immediate airport perimeter, this company aims to provide travelers with lower rental rates by operating as an off-airport provider.
Allied Rent A Car offers a variety of vehicle classes to suit different travel demands, including options for solo travelers, families, and groups. Their fleet typically features a range of vehicles from economy and compact cars, suitable for navigating dense urban traffic, to mid-size and full-size SUVs, which are ideal for longer drives to destinations like San Diego, the Central Coast, or the National Parks. They also list options for Minivans, and in some cases, pickup trucks, catering to those who require extra space or utility during their stay in Southern California.
It is crucial for potential customers to understand that selecting an off-airport rental service like Allied often involves trade-offs. While the prices may be more budget-friendly than those of major on-airport brands, the overall customer experience—especially concerning the quality of the vehicle and speed of service—can be highly variable. Due diligence on the part of the renter is highly recommended to ensure a positive outcome.
Allied Rent A Car operates from a location on Century Boulevard, one of the main thoroughfares adjacent to the LAX airport complex. Being off-site means customers must take an extra step for pickup but typically benefit from lower overhead costs reflected in the rental rate.
The location details are as follows:
Address: 5280 W Century Blvd #135, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA
This address places the agency near the cluster of airport hotels and other off-site rental companies. Since it is not within the LAX Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility, the process requires coordination with the agency directly:
- Airport Pickup: Upon arrival at LAX, customers are required to contact Allied Rent A Car directly at their local phone number to request a shuttle pick-up from the terminal. This is a common practice for non-on-airport rental agencies.
- Proximity: The location on W Century Blvd is only a short distance from the airport, minimizing the commute time once the shuttle is secured.
- In-Office Experience: The rental counter and vehicle staging area are located at the 5280 W Century Blvd address.
- Hours: The general operating hours are typically generous, allowing for flexibility, often opening at 8:00 AM and closing in the early evening, though weekend hours may be shorter. It is always best to confirm hours with the agency directly, especially for late-night arrivals.
- Accessibility: Public data indicates the facility offers a Wheelchair Accessible Car Park, though detailed information on building accessibility should be verified by customers with specific needs.
As a full-service car rental agency, Allied provides the fundamental services expected by both domestic and international travelers, with an emphasis on payment flexibility.
- Flexible Payment Options: The agency accommodates various payment preferences, accepting major Credit Cards, Debit Cards (though conditions often apply, such as credit checks or proof of a return flight), and modern, convenient NFC Mobile Payments.
- Vehicle Categories: The fleet typically includes:
- Economy and Compact cars (e.g., for budget-friendly city driving).
- Mid-Size and Full-Size Sedans (for comfortable highway travel).
- SUVs (Compact, Standard, and Full-Size, offering versatility and extra room for families).
- Minivans and Passenger Vans (for group transportation).
- Additional Equipment: Standard rental extras like GPS devices, Infant Car Seats, and Child Booster Seats are typically available for a daily fee.
- Roadside Assistance: The agency generally provides a 24-hour roadside assistance service for mechanical breakdowns and emergencies, offering a layer of support for renters throughout their trip.
- Insurance and Coverage: While the company provides its own rental coverage options, travelers must be aware of their policy regarding third-party insurance purchased through online booking platforms. Customers are strongly advised to clarify all required insurance, security deposits, and potential fees at the time of booking, as disputes over these matters are a documented customer concern.
The core features of Allied Rent A Car center on its price strategy and location, offering a viable alternative to the higher-priced on-site airport operators.
- Budget-Friendly Pricing: The main draw for Allied is the highly competitive daily and weekly rates, appealing to price-sensitive customers looking to stretch their travel budget further.
- Off-Airport Shuttle Service: The provision of a dedicated shuttle service, which must be called upon arrival, is a necessary feature for its off-site model, ensuring customers can reach the facility without the expense of a taxi.
- Variety in Utility Vehicles: The inclusion of Minivans, large SUVs, and sometimes Pickup Trucks ensures that the fleet caters to practical California needs, whether for family travel or moving supplies.
- Acceptance of Debit Cards: The policy of accepting Debit Cards for rental (subject to specific terms and conditions, such as age and credit check requirements) makes the service accessible to a broader range of local renters who may not have a major credit card.
However, it is vital to acknowledge the pattern of customer feedback that highlights several potential areas of concern. These include reports of inconsistent vehicle maintenance, with some vehicles being described as having cosmetic damage, mechanical issues, or cleanliness problems. Additionally, communications and disputes over unexpected charges, deposits, and mandatory insurance sales have been frequent. Renters should conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle before leaving the lot, take photographic evidence, and carefully review all final paperwork to mitigate these risks.
For making reservations, arranging shuttle pickups, or addressing any service concerns, customers can contact Allied Rent A Car at their Los Angeles location:
- Address: 5280 W Century Blvd #135, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA
- Phone (Local): (310) 410-2313
- Mobile Phone (Alternative): +1 310-410-2313
- Operating Hours: Typically open from 8:00 AM daily, with varying evening closing times. Check their website or call to confirm hours for your specific rental dates.
Allied Rent A Car is worth choosing exclusively for the highly budget-conscious traveler in California whose absolute priority is the lowest possible daily rental rate. If maximizing cost savings is your single most important factor, and you are willing to manage the potential complexities of an off-airport provider, Allied may offer the price you seek. This option is most viable for a renter who is:
- Price-Focused: Looking for a steep discount compared to on-airport agencies.
- Patient and Thorough: Willing to wait for a shuttle and commit the necessary time to meticulously inspect the vehicle for pre-existing damage, and carefully scrutinize the rental contract for hidden fees, insurance mandates, and deposit terms before signing.
- Flexible: Not under an immediate time constraint upon arrival at LAX.
Conversely, for travelers prioritizing speed, guaranteed vehicle quality, seamless customer service, or the convenience of a location inside the new LAX ConRAC facility, Allied Rent A Car may not be the optimal choice. The recurring customer feedback concerning vehicle condition and business practices suggests that the cost savings come with a substantial risk that must be proactively managed by the renter, requiring a high degree of caution and attention to detail throughout the entire rental process.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Customer service was ok. The car was scratched dented, had mismatching floor mats, hood look like it was repainted with spray paint, breaks were bad, and none of the charger outlet worked. After returning the car they tried charging me $121 and I have not received a notice or reason why. Tried calling multiple times and no one answers the phone. Will not go back to this location ever. July 06 · Randy SamThis is, without a doubt, one of the worst rental car companies I’ve ever dealt with – not just in California, but anywhere. I’m writing this review to warn others and hopefully prevent anyone else from being taken advantage of like we were.We rented a vehicle that was clearly not roadworthy. It broke down on us shortly after we picked it up, leaving us stranded and forced to call roadside assistance. After that incident, it became very clear that this company is not operating with integrity or concern for customer safety. Here’s what we experienced:• Faulty Vehicles: The car we were given was an auction vehicle – old, poorly maintained, and not even properly inspected. They’re clearly buying cheap auction cars and turning them around quickly to unsuspecting renters without investing in basic upkeep or safety checks.• Predatory Practices: The employees seem well-trained in manipulating customers, particularly targeting elderly renters who may not fully understand what they’re signing. From what we observed and later learned, this is part of a broader scheme to push questionable vehicles and later file insurance claims when things go wrong.• No Accountability: When we called to report the issue, there was no real help offered – just a dismissive attitude and zero responsibility taken for the fact that they rented out an unsafe car.• Scam Behavior: The entire operation seems more like a hustle than a legitimate business. They are profiting off dangerous and unethical practices, putting people’s safety and finances at risk.I cannot stress this enough: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. They are getting over on people who trust them, and they are operating in a way that’s not just shady but downright dangerous. If you’ve had a similar experience, I highly recommend reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the California Department of Consumer Affairs. We deserve better as paying customers.
May 15 · TLERun. Walk away with your life. This company is going to kill somebody with their janky cars. Super unethical in every way. Really disappointed Priceline would carry such a company. Also no stalls on the third floor to rerun your car after hours. Good luck.Update- in the company response to my review they assume they know who I am and place blame with me the customer for not following “clear instructions”. My point was not that I had returned the car after hours but that if I had I don’t know how or where I would have dropped the car off according to the instructions posted on the door. There were no stalls to return the car with multiple cars double parked, they were all full. So I parked in the alley that I picked it up in and brought the keys into the office. I told the clerk I could not find a stall to park in and where should I park it? The clerk said it was fine. So I’m not sure how I didn’t follow instructions? In addition, multiple reviews state and show the same thing I have posted in pictures here, tires with visible wear and cracking, alarms that don’t work, high miles, filthy interiors. There are some of the responses by the company that even say the car didn’t comply with your standards. The response to my review was consistent with the response to my complaints in the office which was that I was an idiot and the company or its clerks take no responsibility for their actions, or treatment of their patrons. In addition to the worst cars I have ever witnessed, also the worst customer service I have ever seen.
August 02 · Our FamilyThis was the worst rental car experience I have ever had the car was in terrible shape cosmetically it had been wrecked in the front and rear and repaired with terrible body work it had wear and tear holes in the driver's seat it had some raddle noise from the back dash it needed front brake pads replace the wiper fluid light was on at pick up they seen it no one rectified it the volume button on the radio was broke. When hit the trunk pop button the alarm went off. I asked to put in different vehicle the lady said they didn't have anything available despite over about 50 keys hanging on the board.they charge a $500 deposit which was never disclosed prior to pick up by them or Priceline. I would avoid this rental car company if I where you.
