ACO Rent A Car Los Angeles Introduce
When arriving in the expansive Southern California region, particularly at the busy Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), securing reliable and affordable ground transportation is a priority. ACO Rent A Car Los Angeles is an independent car rental agency situated near the airport, catering to travelers seeking an alternative to the major on-airport brands. The company generally positions itself to offer value-focused rental services, often appearing on third-party booking sites with competitive initial pricing. They offer basic car rental services, including a focus on 'Cheap Car Rental' options, and offer a standard Loss Damage Waiver (LDW).
It is crucial for users in California, especially those flying into LAX, to understand the logistics and customer experience associated with off-site rental agencies. Unlike the major brands located in the centralized Consolidated Rent-A-Car (ConRAC) facility, agencies like ACO operate from separate, nearby business suites, requiring a specific off-airport shuttle transfer. While the core promise of the business is accessibility and affordability, prospective customers should carefully weigh the potential for savings against published customer feedback regarding the vehicle condition, shuttle reliability, and final pricing transparency.
The available reviews from real customers present a strong cautionary note. Descriptions frequently mention significant discrepancies between the initial quoted price and the final cost upon arrival, due to undisclosed or confusing additional fees. Furthermore, the reports of aggressive staff behavior, poorly maintained vehicles, and issues with deposit refunds paint a picture that is at odds with a typical professional rental experience. A significant issue noted is the lack of guaranteed customer service during stated operating hours, with reports of closed offices and unanswered phone lines during scheduled pickup times, leading to severe travel disruption for customers.
The ACO Rent A Car Los Angeles location is not directly on the LAX grounds, which is a common setup for many independent and budget-focused rental companies serving the airport area. Its official address is:
5777 W Century Blvd #110, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA
This address places the agency in an office building behind the Hilton Hotel near the airport corridor. Being off-site means customers cannot simply walk to the rental counter from the terminal. The process typically requires catching an airport shuttle—often an unaffiliated van or a shared shuttle service for a group of non-airport rental providers—to an off-site depot. This transfer process can be confusing, as LAX staff or the primary airport shuttles may not be familiar with the exact pick-up procedures for all third-party vendors. Customers have noted confusion regarding the correct pick-up spot, and significant wait times for the company's dedicated shuttle service, which is sometimes reported as using an unmarked or poorly maintained vehicle.
The official phone number for the branch, which is often crucial for coordinating the off-site pickup, is:
Phone: (305) 526-0440
Mobile Phone: +1 305-526-0440
It is important to note that the provided phone number is based in the 305 area code (Miami-Dade County, Florida), which is a common call center structure for national or international operations. Users must be prepared for potential difficulties reaching the local Los Angeles office after-hours, as customer reports indicate calls may go unanswered or straight to voicemail, even when a reservation has been confirmed.
ACO Rent A Car focuses on fundamental vehicle rental services, positioning itself to serve the cost-conscious traveler. The core service elements include:
- Car Rental Service / Servicio de alquiler de vehículos: Standard daily and weekly rentals for various vehicle classes, though the actual fleet condition and availability are subject to local customer feedback.
- Cheap Car Rental: A marketing focus on providing low initial rates, often advertised through third-party travel aggregators.
- Loss Damage Waiver (LDW): Offering insurance options to mitigate the renter’s financial responsibility for damage or theft of the rental vehicle. Customers should scrutinize the specific terms, exclusions, and associated administrative fees for this waiver, especially if declining it in favor of personal auto insurance.
- Off-Site Shuttle Service: Providing transportation from the LAX terminals to their off-site rental facility, a service that customers report as being unreliable, poorly coordinated, and resulting in long waits.
The publicly stated features and the highlights derived from customer experiences offer a mixed perspective that prospective renters must consider:
- Low Initial Pricing: The primary attraction is the inexpensive base price when booking through certain third-party platforms, which can appeal to budget-focused travelers.
- Deposit Charges: A $250 refundable deposit is generally required on a credit card. Customers must be aware of reports indicating unauthorized charging of this deposit even when the vehicle was not picked up.
- Off-Airport Location: The distance from the primary airport hub may lead to lower daily rental fees due to reduced airport concession and facility charges compared to on-site competitors.
- Vehicle Condition: Customer feedback is a major highlight, albeit a negative one, consistently detailing that the available vehicles are old, in poor mechanical condition (e.g., "falling apart," warning lights beeping), and often dirty.
- Lack of Transparency: A crucial feature noted by customers is the tendency to impose significant, mandatory extra charges at the counter for "extras," mandatory insurance fees, or "admin fees" that more than double the initial online quoted rate.
For California residents and incoming travelers relying on LAX, the decision to choose ACO Rent A Car requires a clear-eyed assessment of the risks. Given the strong and consistent negative feedback, the primary and arguably only compelling reason to consider this agency is the initial appearance of the absolute lowest rate on a booking aggregator.
However, the overwhelming evidence from customer reports suggests that this initial saving is virtually always negated by significant problems, making the overall experience detrimental to one's trip. The reported issues—including being charged a non-refundable deposit despite not receiving a car, being stranded after hours, being pressured into taking a vehicle described as "falling apart," and facing rude or aggressive staff—indicate a high likelihood of a deeply frustrating and costly rental experience.
For travelers arriving in Los Angeles, especially those traveling with family or on a tight schedule, it is strongly advised to choose an alternative rental agency. The cost savings of the initial quote are not worth the risk of being stranded without a vehicle, having a deposit wrongfully charged, or being forced to take an old, potentially unsafe car. For a reliable, professional, and transparent experience near LAX, customers should consider well-rated alternatives, even if the up-front cost is slightly higher. The peace of mind and guarantee of a safe, clean, and available vehicle far outweigh the dubious benefits of ACO's promotional 'Cheap Car Rental' promise. The consensus from the local user perspective is a strong "BEWARE."

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1They’re scammers, unprofessional and thieves. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. I arrived at 5:30pm after a 14 hour flight, and they were already closed. There was a note on their door to call their main number and that someone would come to release the vehicle i had booked. No one answered and all calls went straight to voice mail. I ended up going back to the airport to catch a shuttle. THEY STILL CHARGED ME A DEPOSIT!!I failed to read the terrible reviews before considering doing business with this company, big mistake!!!
October 17 · JC SerranoIf I could rate lower than one star, that would be my rating. This is NOT a company. First of all, LAX doesn’t know who this company is, so the shuttle driver doesn’t know where to drop you for the rental car pick up. We had to call the airport directly and ask how to get to our rental car. We were picked up at the depot in a dirty, broken down mini van by a man who was rude, aggressive and provided zero answers to any of our questions. We were taken to a small, one room ‘business’ about 5-6 miles from the airport, where the man continued to promptly process our payment, tried to charge us for extras by providing confusing and inadequate answers to our questions. When we hesitated on taking the car, which was falling apart, was old and dirty, he told us repeatedly ‘no refund and no ride back to the airport’. We were in a foreign country with our 3 kids and now no car.Without another option, we took the car on a 29 min trip where it continued to fall apart and beep at us as we were driving along the highway in LA.Long and short, we ended up arranging for another car and dropped this garbage back to ACO 3 hours later. We are now dealing with the 3rd party company (CheapOair) on obtaining a refund, but so far they have been no help. This ‘company’ needs ti be removed from the available options for car rentals.Horrible experience. BEWARE!We booked through a 3rd party for the first time, and this will be our last.
August 21 · Andrea ORUN FAST AWAY!!!! We made reservations through a 3rd party company after landing in LA. Company stated shuttle was offered to and from airport. We called about pick up was told we were too late to get a shuttle over it was 5:45pm and they didn’t have one available. I tried to then cancel reservation that was booked 5 mins before. Was told I had to go on website to do so… not possible. I got a Uber over to location in which this should have been a second clue to cut my loss. Sketchy from the start! One man show, online I booked the insurance for the duration of our trip paying that up front and got to company and was forced to provide a copy of my own policy. Booked online for a full size vehicle was given a Toyota Corolla, should have walked away another sign. Fast forward, after refueling 2 hours before our drop off time and I get a call making sure I was returning car at the agreement time. Told guy I was almost there. Wondering why I was being called. Get there my family grabs all the bags. I am waiting around was asked if I needed anything else from him after he has come back from checking in the vehicle, my response was my receipt, to know when the hold on my card was going to drop off and shuffle ride to airport. He was visibly inconvenienced, Printed out the most basic receipt and said it would be several weeks for the hold to drop off and they didn’t have a shuttle so we could walk across the street to catch the hotel’s shuttle, told him that was not correct and I would be contacting the better business bureau in regards to this. **** Not even 24 hours of being home, my insurance company contacts us about a filed claim on the vehicle, like we didn’t see this one coming!!! So happy we took lots of photos before we hopped into our Uber back to the airport. These shady low life’s prey on consumers and falsify claims nickel and dime you to try to make money. They picked the wrong consumer to mess with this time. If I could give negative stars, I would!!!! Buyer Beware!!!!
December 29 · Tabitha DowellI rented a car from ACO car rental which was a huge Head Ache. Their website says that they have a shuttle to pick you up and listed a number to call when you arrive. I called that number and it didn't work. Then I had to call several #s and finally someone answered and told me to catch the Hilton shuttle. It took forever to catch this shuttle. Their office is located at the back of the Hilton in a sketchy area where there are a lot of abandoned stores. The office itself looked old and appeared closed. Well it was closed. There's no one in the office, you has to call them and wait outside for service. This waiting game at the airport and for pick up became exhausting especially with having my kid, luggage and car seat w me. Well they then told me they don't accept cheapoair vouchers, he charged me an extra $250 for deposit even though I have collision insurance. Plus there was a $10/day toll fee which I never had to use a toll. The guy told me they don't give rides back to the airport so now I'm worried about my return. They ask u about liability insurance and if u use your own they want to call n verify so that took a long time. Then when I received the vehicle, there were so many scratches, dents, etc on it and the guy didn't want to circle the damages on the diagram/ paper. He just said "take pictures. " Well the fine print says pics have to be sent via email before you drive off.... smh. This whole transaction was such an ordeal. By the way. This company goes by various names.. Never again will I rent a vehicle here.
June 21 · jennifer mooreIt would be difficult for my first impression of this place to be any worse. There is NO shuttle service from the airport ton this location.I had to research and got on a shuttle to a neighboring hotel. I then had to hike hike about a quarter mile to the location. When I arrived, my reserved vehicle was not available. I had to rent a lower level vehicle with a grand total of a $10.00 discount. The agent couldn't have been more apathetic. I haven't seen customer service this poor in years. The only word to describe this experience is disappointing.
