I picked the car up, noticed nothing wrong when inspecting the vehicle, and dropped it off at Washington National Airport where there was an actual, detailed scanner to photograph the status of the car. This was not present at the PHL location. Two weeks later, I get a charge of 710.00 USD for noticeable damage to the vehicle based on scans taken before and after my rental. Scans that couldn’t have been taken, since there was no scanner at the pickup location. The damage was a small scuff on the edge of a rim, and a small dent on the bottom of the passenger door, both were unnoticeable to the eye when I looked the car over.I called the damage claim line, spoke with a reasonable rep that went based off of company policy (which is fair for an employee). My charge was updated to 610.00 USD due to additional fees that were tacked on, then subtracting 500 USD for a rental damage waiver I paid for. I never got any response to my question about the lack of scanner at pickup, and how they verified the damage occurred during my rental. Now I’m on the hook to pay, or I will get sent to collections. This company is a racket with predatory rental practices like this, especially if they have high visibility scanners to take more detailed pictures than the human eye can note, and only at the end point of a one way trip. As a service member and avid traveler for both work and leisure, I will it use SIXT after this experience and actively advocate for others to avoid them as well.
October 03 · Lance JandreauSixt.. gaining a market in the US. Often their rates as cheaper than other rental agencies. One thing that they don't offer is for spouses of the renter to drive without extra charge. Also Sixt has a policy that damaged driver's licenses cannot be used as ID when renting a car. Spouse drive for free and accepting my damages DL.. I went with another rental comapny to finish out my trip. This rental office is outside of the airport's rental row by about 5 minutes.

She was kind, friendly, great at thoroughly explaining everything. Genuinely seemed like she was happy to be alive. She needs a raise!! I’m just genuinely shocked for a good experience at a car rental place. And the car is fantastic! (Actually like amazing)
May 19 · LifeThroughEm'sEyesThis is my second rental from Sixt and both times were really great. I landed at PHL and the shuttle was right there to pick me up. Driver was great. I was helped by Brittany. She was amazing. My car was not ready so she gave me an upgrade. Return was not a problem but the person in the parking lot could have at least acknowledged me as I was standing by my car. He was helping someone else but a quick “be right with you “ would have been great. He was very good otherwise. Met the manager and told him I had a great experience. Would rent again here.
October 17 · v capPlease, do your research with this company before renting from them. The "upgraded" vehicle I received was heavily damaged. I took photo evidence of all the noticeable scratches and dings (at 10 PM, in a dark open-air parking lot), and when I returned the rental (less than 24 hours later), the airport agent confirmed there was nothing new to document. However, one week later, I received a report from their "automated vehicle inspection system", including photos of the damage I'd already documented at pickup. Either the system is flawed, or this is an intentional money grab. After reading dozens of reports similar to mine, I'm inclined to believe it's the latter. Avoid the headache and rent from one of the larger, more established brands. I've included photos of the vehicle at pickup. The state of their fleet is shameful. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I still find it quite irritating that this company would notify me two months after my rental that I owed them $567 for a scratch they claimed I caused to their vehicle. That being said, I spoke with the Damage Department about this and expressed my frustration and concerns. Ultimately, they were willing to close the case and dismiss any penalty fees. So for that, I grateful and will give them credit for not completely trying to hold me accountable for something that very likely was not my fault and quite honestly was very minor. I still feel there is a problem with their system for assessing damages, but appreciate their willingness to work with me.——————We had a horrible experience with this rental agency. Due to a flight cancellation, we rented an SUV from SIXT in Philadelphia last minute to drive home to Charlotte. After completing the paperwork, we were directed to our car. After loading our luggage and getting in the car, we realized that there was a disgusting smell to the car. It smelled like wet dog.We were in a bit of a hurry due to our last minute, change in plans and decided to tolerate the smell for the drive home. We returned the car the next morning to the airport in Charlotte. The receiving agent looked at the car - We told him about the smell And he agreed. But he said that everything else looked fine. Two months later, we received an email from SIXT claiming that there was a scratch on the rim of one of the tires and that it occurred during our rental. They showed 2 or 3 photos taken on the day I returned the car. They didn’t provide any evidence that the rim was scratch-free prior to my rental although they said it was scanned electronically beforehand. I submitted my reply to all of this. And now they’re telling me that I owe them $567 for a scratch without evidence that I caused it or access to the actual vehicle. And their rental paperwork pretty much makes the renter fully liable. This seems like a scam. I will never rent from this agency again and recommend that anyone considering it should look elsewhere.
