The independent owner of this Budget location refused to help us and told us we needed to contact Roadside Assistance because we left the parking lot of his office. Roadside Assistance said they would get help to us in 3 hours. We called AAA and had it towed the 100’ to the independent owners parking lot who assured us we would get a full refund. He issued refund for 250.00 after he billed for an additional 250.00 and I am still out the original amount of 283.40. I have spent hours trying to return this very defective vehicle and to get the proper refund. Save yourself lot of time and effort and go somewhere else.

The man who worked there assured me it had been cleaned. He went out to wipe the car down anyway and then we went our separate ways.Then, I went to load stuff into the vehicle and found SOMEONE ELSE'S LUGGAGE in the trunk. So, I went back again. He took the luggage out and again, we parted ways.As I leave, I get a notification on the dashboard that the key fob battery is low. I return AGAIN, and the man offers to teach me out to use the manual key. I told him that I wouldn't take it unless the key battery was changed. In this day and age, cars need the fob to use all the features! He told me that he didn't have another battery or another car. So, I told him that I wanted a refund.As he was processing my refund, he handed the key to me so I could unload the vehicle. The car door does not open...I try using the manual key. It does not open. The man tried multiple times. It doesn't open. We change the fob battery. It does not open. Then, while on the phone with roadside assistance, he figures out that he gave me the wrong key.Literally, the worst car rental experience I've ever had.

April 22 · Cesar NaranjoRented out at JFK dropped off at this location. Gentlemen was very friendly and helpful. The 800 number told my wife that there would be a $35 drop off fee… when I returned the car I was only charged $25. Thank you.
September 26 · M&MI have rented cars all over the country and never had a worse experience then this rental car office only a couple of miles from my home. I called the office directly to make a reservation and told them that I would need to pick the small SUV up when they opened Friday morning and would return it that evening if they had a drop box or 1st thing when they opened the following day. No drop box so the next day was my only option. I was quoted a rate and given a reservation number. I got to the Avis/Budget office at 7:30 which is their posted opening time. At 7:45 the office finally opened, when I gave my reservation number I was told that the vehicle was scheduled for 10:00am pick in their system and that if I wanted to take the vehicle at the opening I would be charged for 2 days because the office didn't open until 9:00 on Saturday. Talk about a bait and switch. The price for the extra day didn't double the rate but rather increased it 2.5 times. Does this make sense? I'm suppose to pay for an additional day, 2.5 times as much as the original reservation because the shop doesn't open at the same time every day and I physically can't bring the car back any sooner. I called the 800 number for Avis, turns out it's a budget Rental, so after 5 min. of trying to figure out why they didn't have my reservation number, I had to dial Budget. Hey front desk guy with only one customer standing in front of you, ya think you might have mentioned that? Ok dial Budget but was told if I wanted the car that was my only option. I didn't take the car because I felt I was being swindled. Hey Roslyn office here is a suggestion on how to improve your business.1) How about opening on time2) You should train your staff on how to override the computer to avoid this kind of fraudulent business practice or open the office at 7:30 every day of the week.3) Your staff isn't friendly or helpful I felt like both the office person and the person at the 800 number wasn't concerned at all with my problem.4) I called the local phone number for Avis but was booked through Budget for some reason. When someone calls you office and they make a reservation you should explain which company they are booking through. This confusion meant I had to stand in your lobby and call 2 different 800 number. I finally left the office without a car, frustrated, annoyed and having to change my plans for work.Finally, I rent cars near my house 3 or 4 times a year, 2 to 3 times a year on the road and my out of town guest also rent local a couple of time a year. You've lost several thousand dollars of life time value. Thanks for the terrible experience.
