Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles Introduce
Welcome to Los Angeles! If you’re a California local planning a road trip, or a visitor arriving at LAX, securing reliable and affordable transportation is often one of the first and most important steps of your journey. Fox Rent A Car, situated conveniently just off the airport property, has established itself as a key option for travelers seeking a wide variety of vehicles, ranging from compact cars for city cruising to full-size vans for group travel.
Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles operates as both a dedicated Car Rental Agency and a Van Rental Agency, catering to a diverse clientele with varying travel needs. The brand is often associated with competitive rates, making it a popular choice for budget-conscious renters who still require a quality vehicle for navigating the sprawling Los Angeles area and beyond. Whether you're heading down the scenic Pacific Coast Highway, exploring the vibrant neighborhoods of LA, or venturing to other parts of the Golden State, having your own vehicle offers the freedom and flexibility essential for a truly Californian experience.
Like any high-volume rental operation, particularly near a major international airport, the customer experience can be dynamic. Recent user feedback, however, does indicate areas where wait times and vehicle condition have been inconsistent. Specifically, some customers have reported extended waits for the shuttle service and occasional concerns regarding the cleanliness of the assigned vehicle. This suggests that while Fox often delivers on its core promise of variety and value, travelers should factor in potential delays, especially during peak travel times like weekends, holidays, or summer months, and consider confirming vehicle readiness upon arrival.
Fox Rent A Car is strategically positioned to serve travelers flying into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Its off-airport location is designed to minimize the high fees and congestion associated with on-airport facilities, transferring those savings to the customer. This location is an ideal starting point for your California adventure, offering quick access to major freeways that lead into downtown Los Angeles, the beaches of Santa Monica, or the road networks that span the rest of the state.
The location information for this branch is:
- Address: 5500 W Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045, USA
- Phone: (323) 673-9084
- Mobile Phone: +1 323-673-9084
The rental agency is located on West Century Boulevard, a major thoroughfare for LAX-related businesses, placing it less than two miles from the main terminals. The primary method for airport travelers to reach the rental office is via a complimentary shuttle service. Upon arrival at LAX, customers are instructed to proceed outside the baggage claim area to the center island. Look for the designated "Car Rental Pick Up" sign—typically purple—and board the Fox Rent A Car shuttle.
Due to the off-site nature of the location, you must factor in the time required for the shuttle ride, which can vary based on airport traffic and the frequency of the shuttles. While some customers report a swift transfer, others have noted longer-than-expected waiting periods for the shuttle, especially when compared to competitor services.
Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles offers a comprehensive list of services and amenities designed to streamline the rental process, from reservation to return. Their core offerings cover various vehicle types to suit nearly any travel requirement, whether you need an economical car for solo travel or a large van for a family vacation.
The key Services Offered include:
- Onsite services at the 5500 W Century Blvd location.
- A diverse fleet of rental vehicles, covering economy, compact, mid-size, full-size cars, as well as SUVs, minivans, and full-size passenger vans.
- Convenient shuttle transportation to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
- The option for one-way rentals, allowing you to pick up your car in Los Angeles and drop it off at another Fox location across the US (geographic restrictions and fees may apply).
- Specialized rentals for young drivers (typically starting from age 19, with a daily fee applying for drivers under 25).
- Availability of additional equipment, such as GPS navigation units and various child safety seats (infant, child, and booster) for rent.
- Digital convenience with the acceptance of e-vouchers/digital confirmations on mobile devices.
The company also provides several logistical and accessibility features to ensure a smoother experience for all customers.
Notable Features and Highlights of the Los Angeles location:
- Accessibility: The facility is noted for its commitment to accessibility, featuring a wheelchair accessible entrance, wheelchair accessible parking lot, wheelchair accessible restroom, and wheelchair accessible seating.
- Payment Options: Flexibility in payment methods is a key feature, as the agency accepts major credit cards, debit cards (often with additional restrictions or deposit requirements), and modern NFC mobile payments.
- Long-Term Rentals: For those planning extended stays in California or a cross-state journey, monthly rental car options are often available at discounted rates.
- Promotional Rates: Fox frequently offers competitive pricing with "Hot Deals," special discounts, and coupons, encouraging customers to check their website directly for the lowest possible rates. They also often provide targeted discounts, such as for First Responders.
In summary, the Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles location at 5500 W Century Blvd aims to be a valuable resource for car and van rentals in the LA area. It is important for local users to have a complete picture, including the less optimal experiences noted by some reviewers. While the price point and vehicle variety are often cited as major advantages, the logistics of the shuttle service and the speed of counter service have been flagged as areas for improvement. Renters should mentally prepare for the possibility of a longer pickup process than one might experience with an on-airport rental agency, especially during high-demand periods.
Ultimately, a successful rental experience with Fox in Los Angeles often hinges on managing expectations regarding the pickup process and shuttle service, particularly if you are in a rush. If you prioritize budget and vehicle selection and allow ample time in your schedule for transfer and counter processing, Fox Rent A Car remains a highly competitive option for your California travel needs.
What is Worth Choosing Fox Rent A Car Los Angeles
The primary reason many travelers, both local and visiting, choose Fox Rent A Car in Los Angeles is the potential for significant Cost Savings. As an off-airport site, the agency can typically offer lower daily rates compared to competitors located directly on LAX property, which is a major benefit for longer rentals or budget-conscious trips. Furthermore, the Fleet Diversity is a strong draw, providing everything from small, fuel-efficient economy cars—perfect for navigating dense city traffic and tight parking spaces—to larger SUVs and full-size 12-passenger vans, making it a one-stop-shop for all group sizes and luggage requirements.
The commitment to Accessibility is also a noteworthy factor, with dedicated facilities ensuring that the rental process is manageable for customers requiring wheelchair access. Additionally, for younger drivers (age 19 and up), Fox often provides rental options where other major companies may have stricter age minimums, making it a viable choice for students or younger travelers.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The shuttle took forever to come. Every other company (avis, budget, enterprise, national, sixt) came like 3x before Fox came even once! I had to wait 35mins. And when I finally got the car, it was filthy! Definitely not washed. It smelled bad inside. Terrible. They need to make sure these cars are clean before assigning them
October 11 · Caro ADon't even think about it. We waited over 30 min for the shuttle at the airport to come and one shuttle drove past us empty so we called customer service. They told us another was coming in 15-30 min and we saw every other shuttle drive past us every other minute so we recommended any other rental company if you're looking for a rental car. The rep on the phone did not sound sympathetic to our wait and I wanted to speak to the manager and he said they were all in a meeting. I told him that I can wait for their meeting to end cuz I was already waiting for the bus to come and he told me that it was not possible. The bus that did come after 40 min was completely full so we had to stand by the shifting suit cases for the brief trip to the counter. The picture of the broken seat is still there so "bad seat" is still in full effect. Once we got to the counter the lady was aggressive with her liability insurance specifically saying that it was a special California law that demanded we get additional insurance than the one we have in a strong armed and uninformed way and my husband complained so the manager gave us a refund. The wait to get our reserved car was over an hour and many other people were also very angry. The staff was really testy and the clientele matched their energy. We considered cancelling but the fees on top of the partial refund made it not an option. I know it's a long weekend but I feel like it's not worth the hassle to get yelled at by your car rental company.
August 29 · Lily LuI picked up my car at around 8 PM and was pleasantly surprised to find no line at all. The only downside was that just one counter was open which made the service slightly slower than ideal. But the process was smooth and the car was in great condition overall.
August 31 · GentaI’ve read some of the negative reviews and agree with what others are saying. The shuttle from the airport to the facility was chaotic — too many people waiting and not enough buses. Luckily, when we arrived, there were only a few people in line, so the rental process went pretty quickly.Since I booked through Booking.com, I had already purchased full coverage, so I told the employee I didn’t need LDW (Loss Damage Waiver). She also mentioned something about not needing to bring the car back with a full tank of gas, but I wasn’t paying much attention because I always return vehicles with a full tank. I signed a few screens and was on my way.Later, I discovered that LDW, RSA (Roadside Assistance), and Prepaid Fuel had been added to my bill, totaling over $150 more than my reservation price. Thankfully, there’s a 76 gas station right next to the facility, so I topped off the tank, and they removed the prepaid fuel charge. I also asked about removing the extra insurance; although the agent couldn’t fix it at that time, he suggested I contact the manager on Monday.I reached out and provided proof of my third-party Collision Damage Waiver, and Juan Valencia was very kind in processing the refund without issue. I appreciate that they resolved the matter and that the vehicle itself was in excellent condition.Overall, I’m satisfied with the outcome, but I highly recommend carefully reviewing your contract before leaving the counter.
October 14 · Hugh WoodsRun now. Cancel your reservation. If you are past the reservation they won't let you cancel no many how many hours you have been waiting for a rental to arrive. Whatever time they tell you the wait is just double it. I have been waiting 2x how long they said I would be waiting. They separate the queue based on your car type so don't be surprised if you see people that were behind you in line go before you.
